before you try this at home kids, make sure you use an insulated precision screwdriver on equipment using lethal voltages ;) ...you will thank me one day i'm sure :D
why is he using such huge alligator clips? why does he so9nud drunk? why is he using a metal screwdriver to make the adjustments to the bias trimmer/pot?? Man this is trainwreck about to happen!! :O
I have a very early silver face twin. I took the amp out of the cabinet once to spray some switch cleaner in the pots. Much to my surprise I found an ancient, small block of hash inside. I smoked it and it wasn't bad at all, just a bit rough on the throat. Thing is, the twin hasn't sounded quite as good since. Anyone have any idea what the problem is?
Does anyone want to comment, dropping out 1 of the 2 power out tubes in a 50 watt marshall rig...will running the unit with one tube mess up anything (aside from possibly shortening the life of the single tube)? I'm running a JTM 45 and took out an 5881. It sounds okay, at low volume at least. The tube runs comfortably at a fenderesque blue. I've read the grid resistors and output transformer can be over stressed though.
in push-pull amps with 2 tubes, each tube amplifies one halfwave of the signal. removing one tube of a will leave you with a shitty sound at least as just one half of the signal will be amplified. also the output-transformer will be peranently magnetized which will cause your amp to break down within a month at most. i dont recommend that.
if youre interested in reducing the power of your amp, you should try to run your tubes in pseudo-triode mode or just get a power soak.

@rmroza You have no idea who this guy is. Perhaps he needs to stress safety more but he really does know what he's doing, trust me on that.
