  • So how the hell did marine fossils form with these 'suckers' dissolving the remnants? Are fossils the result of rapid burial under sediment? What other theories does this observation overturn?

  • Discovery is sh!t and the research of this worms is pointless.

    ;-)

  • Thumbs up for macrocellular sperm cells!

  • Why

  • WOW...MORE DISCOVERY CHANNEL BULLSHIT!

  • narator sounds like kevin from ukiss!

  • xD Kermit the Frog

  • hmmmm a new species found and waiting to be destroyed...

  • Feel these when I'm rattling.

  • the appropiate name is bone worms

  • i thought they would throw living wales

  • i saw this kind of worms in a mountain river from Romania

  • ur one mean basterd but this was actually funny

    no offense, Romania! :))

  • Could this be the solution for all future perfect murders? :P

  • if you have a few decades (or a lot of worms) to get rid of the bones, sure.

  • I'm guessing it takes quite a long time?

  • @MsSomeonenew or just use sulphuric acid? :P

  • @MsSomeonenew

    DEXTER!!!

  • @MsSomeonenew NO!! STOP KILLING PEOPLE!!!

  • @MsSomeonenew HEY... shut up! lol

  • @MsSomeonenew no, actually 3, 2-week starved hogs would do the job!

  • to all those assholes that say that this discovery is shit and the research of this worms is pointless

think in all the fucking CO2,fuel, water, etc that could be saved if instead of burning millions of cow bones, just put them on huge pools filled up with these worms for example

it will be slower, but safer

  • Or we learn about the bacteria that help to do this and use them... or just the chemical processes the bacteria use. There's gotta be a future in using bacteria to consume waste and generate energy... a chemical version of Mr. Fusion.

Basic scientific research that would have seemed useless to the cretins of the day has led to most of our technological breakthroughs.

  • @ConanDosPuntosBe I didn't know we burned cow bones. Really, i didn't.

  • yeah we do, i live next to a small kill house and every night they burn tons of cow bones and skin. its a HUGE waste of oxygen and fuel, besides it liberates a lot of co2 and other toxins to the atmosphere

    yeah my english sucks :D

  • your right in every way

  • @ConanDosPuntosBe to bad co2 emissions dont mean shit. to bad we don't burn the bones mostly just bury them.

  • @ConanDosPuntosBe Or you could just not slaughter all of the cows...

  • @ConanDosPuntosBe fuck that shit! what if they evolve into some weird ass killing machine`? i rahter not

  • @Severosrighthook Oh yea, because all animals just suddenly evolves into things that kill people -_-

  • @Davidkochg haha f.u. i aint taking no risk namsayin? weird shiiet had happen before namean?

  • @ConanDosPuntosBe I always thought the same thing. Compost farms

  • @ConanDosPuntosBe

Another stupid tree hugger fag idea, get a life retard..

  • @ConanDosPuntosBe OR engineer a e-coli bacteria that can convert cellulose into a range of chemicals, including diesel fuel.

  • stop humping the bone

  • Vaccines contain the thing that cause disease in little amounts so our body can create the antiseptics things or whatever to fight it off at the time, then when the actual disease comes later we will already have a barrier for it and won't get sick...

  • you vaccine deniers are always the worst. Stop trying to get people killed and STAY QUIET

  • haha i love sinking whales myself

  • lol xD

  • Since when does eating whale skeletons make you weird?

  • when you grow roots like a tree

  • what kind of fish is that?

  • interesting species

  • that look totally weird and cool

I hope i have not eat them

  • Awesome discovery.

  • There is a flesh eating bacteria. Thats fairly close to bone eating. If anything, Id think that having your skin eaten off would be worse.

  • the ocean is massive and we've only explored 1% or less of it. there are still as many new species yet to be discovered in the ocean as there are stars in the sky.

  • who cares about worms in the ocean. Spend funds on better things than sending a submarine down to the bottom of the ocean to pick up worms that almost nobody will see.....who knows, maybe if you mash them up then u cna drink them to cure cancer but I dont like seeing people putting entire studies into small organisms when there is more promising leads to push technology and medical further

  • Deal with it, because you're just using the most cliched argument against any field of science, "Who cares?" Well just because you don't find something interesting, that doesn't mean anything. Humans are naturally inquisitive, and so there will always be scientists studying every aspect of nature.

  • that is true, If they can do it thats cool but if they choose studying worms over funding another important project then thats when i get a little dismayed

  • Well people have their own interests. Telling people what they have to do for a living certainly isn't ok. But I'm sure there are plenty of other scientists working on the "more important" stuff.

  • They look like Fighting fish. Haha in a smaller version(:

  • I've always wondered how on every single intelligent, scientific video I've seen that gets posted to Youtube, there's always some dumbasses who find something that makes them angry about the video, no matter how non-controversial the subject of the video is. What is it about science that pisses people off? I'm not even talking about controversial science issues like evolution or global warming. Here we have a video about worms eating bones and there's still people pissed off in the comments.

  • Mabye they have a phobia... or they're just plain crazy. Then again, how would crazy people know how to opperate a computer?

  • How would crazy people be able to operate a computer? No idea... but there sure a are a lot of 'em on YouTube. ;)

  • stfu internet tough guy DONT INSULT ME U FUKER

  • @regergekowns...

    Two things...

    1) That wasn't directed at you (unless you consider yourself one of them)

    2) Your spelling errors and pseudorage amuse me greatly

  • Mabye they have a "Hater" keyboard that they can understand (i.e. Cap lock = Rage, B = Blacks, Alt + F4 = incase you need to run from sanity , N = well you know where i'm going with this)

  • Hm. Good point, 338

  • shut the FUCK UP TOUGH GUY

  • Youtube is immature and retarded.

Jesus Christ, you people....It's a video about worms...

    FUCKING WORMS

Calm the FUCK down and see this for what it is: researchers discussing interesting findings about....worms...

  • #1 A scientific theory is not the colloquial term; it is something that is tested and retested using observational data before accepted by the scientific community. There is infinitely more evidence backing evolution than the argument from design. In fact, there is no evidence for design at all, it's completely a priori.

#2 As i have previously stated people who have trouble believing what occurs in the universe attribute it to miracles or intelligent design; THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT SCIENTISTS.

  • WILLLUVSTHE411 HERE ON YOUTUBE! ! !

  • Comment removed

  • you are either a girl or a gay

  • interesting,

  • is that all they can find in the sea, WORMS...

  • Well what the hell do you expect? You sound as if there is certainly something 'more exciting' in the ocean and these researchers are at fault for not looking hard enough.

  • SON u need to Shut Up! instead of " them " trying to reduce Global Warming, they discovered something that already been discovered! StUpId

  • Firstly, I'm not your son and I don't need to do anything. Second, scientists aren't just one group of people comprehensively studying all aspects of the universe. There are geologists, entomologists, ecologists and many more. There is absolutely no reason these scientists should shift their focus on something they have no professional expertise on. Lastly, discovery of something does not mean complete understanding. Scientists are constantly studying what has already been found.

  • i want to name the other 12

  • flood from halo 3 anyone?

  • This is really cool but super creepy. Worms that have roots? In BONES? UGH.

I get the shivers looking at it! Yet something makes me want to try and yank one out. LOL

  • Or maybe its just people who know what they are talking about....

  • ima get some of these so i can get rid of the bodies i buried

  • lmao

  • Give me the cliff notes..come on..I dare you.....

  • Please prove this. You cannot. "Google it" LOL!!! I love it! You have made a blanket statement "developments have moved the scientific community away from it, and towards the concept of a higher intelligence"

What scientists do you speak of???

  • This isn't a miracle. It's nature... It may be amazing but this kind of thing is constantly occurring all around us and people who have trouble believing them attribute it to "miracles" or some omnipotent designer. In fact, the argument from design is a completely invalid one that has been discredited by people who value rational thinking. The theory of evolution has an extremely strong foundation in scientific thinking and it is something that should be valued or at the very least, understood.

  • Not all liberals believe in evolution...sheesh. Actually most probably don't. No wonder this country is bipolar and politically unproductive. How's that for a stereotype. Conservative I presume.

  • @1bamfo

    LOL xD

  • they dont affect humans right?

  • as long as we dont sink to the bottom of the ocean and let them suck on our bones, no.

  • I'm sure if your bones where there instead of the whales, the worms wouldn't discriminate.

But you have to be dead first so unless your dead, don't worry about them.

    LOL

  • yes but I'm thinking they could become parasites and go to land

  • That's like being worried that a manatee will eat through a box of your cookies at home because you know of another mammal (a mouse) that does that.

  • yeah things always evolve, and if there are worms at the bottom of the sea eating bones, then in the future or in the present time (unknown to us) there is a worm species on land that eats the skeletons of living animals.

  • That's not how evolution works... It doesn't happen over night. By the time we'd have man-eating bone worms, humans would probably be extinct anyway.

  • they could already exist

  • Ok? If they do, then they obviously exist in very remote areas where humans don't live, considering no one has ever reported them. Which means you have absolutely no reason to get all freaked out over them as if it's an epidemic.

  • doesn't the idea of having your bones eaten freak you out?

  • Doesn't the idea of a flying shark/lion hybrid that can chase you through the air freak you out? Why don't people worry about that? Because it is impossible on a practical level.

  • bone eating parasites aren't practically impossible though, unlike the strange flying creature you describe.

  • Yes, they are, if you account for the fact that any sort of parasitic affliction that is likely to be widespread would have already been discovered by humans decades or centuries ago. While not impossible in an absolute sense, it is in a practical sense

  • simply put, the worm's exist. Your shion, or liark or whatever you would call that, does not, and could not exist. Also there are diseases that can "eat" your bones, so that is not an irrational fear.

  • But a fear based on the spontaneous mutation of ocean bottom-dwelling scavengers into terrestrial parasites within anyone's lifespan is not rational.

  • true, but to try and make a comparison to something like you did is a little absurd.

Also, bacteria and viruses (not worms, I know) have the ability to mutate quickly, so an infectious disease that can appear much like a parasite and be able to break down bone structure is entirely possible. Thus making 726full's fear of having his/hers bones deteriorate in a short amount of time not a totally irrational fear.

  • Ok, not totally, but mostly. 726full's fears were directed towards the worms in this video, and my goal was simply to point out the irrationality of these fears.

  • LOL so worms eating bones = irrational, but the fear of having your bones "eaten" = rational. I can work with that.

  • I was talking about bone eating worms in general, including other hypothetical species

  • why is it not rational? there could similar, related species

  • AIDS was originally confined to remote central african villages, but it didnt hit headlines until 20 years later

  • AIDS is caused by a virus, not a worm. Viruses and microorganisms can mutate and evolve very rapidly. That's partially the reason why we have no cure for AIDS.

  • damn u responded fast

I not comparing the nature of aids to worms, but rather the discovery of new threats

  • But you see, the recent discovery of AIDS still has to do with its nature as a virus. It originally was found in non-human primates and crossed over in the 1980s, thanks to its ability as a virus to change rapidly.

  • that down rate was for being uneducated.

  • that down rate was for having an irretrievably stupid channel

    blow me

  • Those worms look like Hiedi Montag and Spencer Pratt in front of a camera! LOL

  • Boner Worms?

  • um sounds fishy lol

  • @1bamfo

MJ is in the bottom of the ocean?

  • to soon......

  • not bad. might come handy one of these days

  • pretty awesome. theyre basically worms with a body structure of a tree

they suck in bone through the roots

    rather than water

    like a tree does

    awesomeee

  • Imagine...PREDATORY bone worms. AHHHHHHHHHH :O

  • aha ... ?

  • cool.:)

  • LOL.

  • Nice footage!

  • love discovering new species..like discovering a whole new world

  • one word. wierd :l

  • hdv is awsem

  • Who needs to find life on a different planet anyways? Just go to the deep oceans and you'll find some crazy stuff.

  • why would girls go for guys that look for sex on youtube?!?!

  • Lol?

  • yeah discovery iz back

  • Tree Worms! Whoo!

  • Where (or who) and . Why ? Did They Get The Name.. Worms From.. i'm curious.??.

  • I wonder why those crabs and fish were hanging out around the carcass. It didn't look like there was any meat left. Also, I wonder if those crabs taste good.

  • They were probably waiting for those worms to show up. Free lunch.

  • Headcrabs!!!

  • can i use then for fishing?

  • ew/cool

  • Check out puppetboy's blog at blogspot yo!

  • i think they're dangerous for our bone XD

  • Name should be a link between parasites and fish .. very fascinating

  • wonder how they'd work on a large mouth?

  • They're so cute!

  • I really want one :3

I shall call him Squishy...and he shall be my Squishy...my Squishy he shall be. :DDDD

  • and you care why?

  • Because I want to, BITCH!

  • yes..yes i did..and why should you care?:P

and i don't really appreciate being called a bitch :P

and what does nemo have to do with bone eating worms? o-O

  • lol! scientific name-"squishy"

  • Well, if you feed him properly, YOU may be Squishy, and HE may be heartzvempire.

  • Our still has a lot of secret........

Its very exciting to be discovered..........

  • lol serious?

  • cool

  • what the hell?!

  • I wonder if "Moregelions" researchers have looked at these worms?

  • i´ve never heard of sweden, must be a small island or something >_>. weirdass

  • Are you joking?

  • Actually sweden is part of what you might know as scandinavia, it lies just northeast of denmark and denmark lies north of Germany

  • Interesting.

  • sweden!

  • Could be perhaps a benefit for humans for treating osteomyelitis.

  • I'm thankfull "jesus" died, stupid idiot.

  • Bone, Bone, Bone, Bone, Bone, Bone, Bone, Bone, Bone, now tell me what cha gonna do whene there ain't nowhere to run, when worms come for you, when worms come for you ...

  • @kotk05

Definitely, these are the Bone thugs we were told about.

  • What the hell is this?

It's basically a plant growing in dirt but now instead bones...

    Why "worms"?

  • Yeah I don't see how they can be considered worms.

  • Perhaps they have the DNA of worms. And there are some other worms that also have have "roots", if you want to call it that.

  • "Why "worms""

because the organisms phylum, class, order, and family say so.

  • Sounds like grass to me.

    Plants do that too.

    Fly traps are an example.

  • wow they are beautiful and a tad disgusting

  • can they being eat by human?

  • @flashboy95 are you from japan?

  • no

    y?

  • i was worried this video was gonna be about human bones being eaten while the guy is still alive haha...

  • nasty

  • 1:28 cute shrimp !
