I can't believe this didn't get a more rousing applause. If I were there I wouldn't have been able to control myself. I would have freaked out after the rolling around on the ground while singing C and D6's.
Mesmerizing!!! Gads, what a perfect voice! I was so lucky to see her in a live performance of Rigoletto in Toronto about 15 years ago. I'll never forget her performance. She nailed it then; but nut as much as she nailed it here. What a voice!!

She was simply divine in Dallas Wednesday, 03-30-2011. How she can lie down on her back or on her side, recline back, sit down or lean over & still make those luciious sounds is beyond me.

We've been so lucky to have her sing Gilda at Houston Grand Opera more than once. She also sang this aria at our Gala a couple of years ago. She was amazing how she held the high e as she exited the stage. She's a lovely lady in person too.
BestOperaLover - thank u so much for posting this!
I've been studying opera for years and listening and just NOW am starting to know the talent that's named Laura Claycomb! Amazing, so musical and does portamenti WITHOUT scooping or cooing and is theatrical all in one! And a healthy voice!
I was in the audience for her professional debut of this role. I don't remember an ovation as raucous and heartfelt as the one she elicited. Why is she not more widely known?
when was this? That was perfect. I loved every single part of voice (low, middle and especially her high)..very ringing..she can give famous sopranos a run for their money 5/5

This is marvelous. The phrasing, breath support and the interconection with words and music is so well done. She is perfect singer.I never heard before this name. She delivers perfection on stage.
Laura claycomb is one of the best lyric coloraturas I have heard in a long time. Wonderful stage prescence, great control, and the voice is something very special. Excellent!

I got to see Claycomb in LA about 10 years ago in Capuletti e Montechi and she was delightful. Who can tell why she doesn't have a bigger name? Its all about publicity. Ah la pu-bli-citee....

thomastmwc 2 years ago 2
That's an E natural, but there was a very long tradition of interpolating it that predates Price.
Tettrazzini, D'Angelo, Pons, Peters & Callas (though transposed to Eb) are just several that are recorded.
