I'm an 18 year old, girl, who REALLY wants to go into the Coast Guard as a rescue swimmer. My eyes get REALLY irritated when stuff gets in them and the only thing holding me back from calling a recruiter is the pepper spraying. My dad was in the Coast Guard (rescue swimmer) and he encourages me to join but he, fortunately, did not have to get pepper sprayed back then. Can someone just tell me it's worth it? I guess I just need to hear it is worth it from someone with OC experience.
@JmacFan4ever0709 I don't have experience in the CG but I've been sprayed by OC atleast a dozen times. It's really not that bad if you don't panic when it takes affect.
dont sweat it. if your real weak then take a course. just feel comfortable in the water. if you dont when you get there. you will be when you leave. lol
@CorruptNwa watch as many USCG Training vids as you can. Train and practice everything you see before you go to cape may. The knowledge of how everything is going to be before-hand will make you a lot more confident. Your confidence will allow you to help others out and your CC will admire you for that.
@StevenSupernatural i feel like a retard for not knowning this but, when you sign up do they take care of transportation for you? because I live in Flint MI and i dont have a car to travel to cape may NJ for basic training just asking because I'm really concern about transportation because my transportation resources is bullshit!
