Pope John Paul II has stated that inter religious dialogue and activity must be part of the mission and evangelization of the Catholic Church. We know that the great missionaries went into Hindu and Buddhist temples e.g Matteo Ricci and the other Jesuits.

In Redemptoris Missio 55 Pope John Paul II states that the ordinary way of salvation is the Catholic Church and this must be remembered in inter religious dialogue.

Pope John Paul II gave us Dominus Iesus 20 which states everyone needs to enter the Church for salvation. He gave us Redemptois Missio 55 which says in inter religious dialogue it must be remembered that the Catholic Church is the ordinary way of salvation.

He gave us the Notification on Fr.Jacques Dupuis saying there is no theology which can say non Catholic religions are paths to salvation.

He did not retract extra ecclesiam nulla salus.
