Yerba Mate Gourd

wow i know this isnt technically the "traditional" way but i like it more, i waste less yerba since i dont have to fill the gourd completely, thank you guys, salud!

this is rediculous, no body packs a gourd like that... find somebody who knows what they are doing... and get some real yerba, that mate factor stuff tastes so bad...

OK, I tried it this way and in fact i'm drinking it as I type... it works! I was skeptical, but it's actually working quite well. It allows for more water this way and no clogging... i've poured my 4th or 5th cup now, all have turned out good!

I have been pouring the mate first, then turning is and shaking, and turning it back slowly to form a hill on one side and open space on the other. Add some cold water, let it absorb, then add my bombilla and then hot water... i'll have to try this way and see how it compares.

Have you tried it this way? I've read that different places do it different ways, but I just tried this and it works well... no clogging, good flavor.

I have had my problems with yerba mate, especially with this brazilian powdery kind.

(It seems that little particles have decided to go the wrong way-lungs)...

Well I have kept the chimarrão for making roasted mate tea, very delicious btw. Better than coffee.
