I play very poor compared to them..... and playing with someone next to you it's great. Hope one day I get there............. got to be a good feeling
thats not music people, thats happiness and just for the record ya can take ur x factor shite an stick it where the sun dont shine, COME TO SCOTLAND YOU PAIR!!!
Wonderful! Stephen's music endures constant repetition due to his amazingly beautiful melodies. Tommy was uncharacteristically restrained in the first tune and I love it when he plays like this so much more than all the speed and lick freakery.
I think I know why Stephen has his eyes closed honestly. Tommy is very visually distracting, he is fun to watch and very animated, and will also make you LAUGH and lose concentration!
Isn't Stephen Bennet a former National FLATPICKING Champion? He's in an all-star line-up of National Champs in a YT video, playing Alabama Jubilee, w/Steve Kaufman and Mark Cosgrove and others - I believe that's Stephen there on the left end.
I usually don't like Tommy's music as much when he's playing with someone else, but this is an exception. It's beautiful. These guys belong together and should do an album.
Stephen Bennet...... One of the greatest guitar composers of all time. A true treasure in the acoustic guitar world. Tommy Emmanuel....... Well he's the man! And for you new pickers out there, don't forget to learn the 12 bar blues! Thanks for posting!
What a pleasure to see and hear these two 'solo' "acoustic guitar super heros" play 'together', and to see them thoroughly enjoy and appreciate each other's gifts, melding together something extraordinarily more than a sum of parts - exemplified by the joy in their faces in the final few frames. Now, that's what it's about!
@JLarry09 But... these are precious backstage moments, valuable all by themselves... He plays all the time.... you know, it's hard to avoid that recordings like this get taped all the time. But in addition, I agree, I'd like to see a recording of Tommy & Stephen - of the songs they have played together so often.
Although I agree in general, I do not when it comes to Tommy Emmanuel. He usually doesn't play songs that are necessarily complex. He uses technique as a means to play music that, I think, is suitable for a wide range of people. I heard him say in an interview he sees himself as an entertainer for the common folk, and I think his songs reflect this. That's why he is actually really popular, compared to other fingerstyle guitarists.
these guys enjoy every note they play. very fun to watch. and pure goodness too.

@6ixstringed That would be Greg Bennett Guitars.

Nice stuff...but over most peoples head.
As a guitar player myself I've discovered that
the common man on the street can't really
appreciate the complexity of most of the music
a man like Tommy and Stephen play. They just
smile and say...Yeah, but can you play the wild-
wood flower or smoke on the water..
That's why relatively few have heard of people like Tommy...great talent but not marketable enough to the masses
rustysruger 1 year ago
@rustysruger i completely agree. how do you market someone like tommy to the fickle masses? TE deserves all the recognition in the world
fcbtim 1 year ago
@fcbtim why can't someone get tommy a nice studio to record his greatness in! he always does these video taped session. this deserves a studio

@2itubetoo2 Actually, I am wrong about the 'backstage' in this case... At least there must have been a studio very close by...
