The graveyard house was VERY different...the only story I have like that was delivering papers to an elderly-care...would deliver papers to dead people from time to time (I would get there before the nurse).
I went from carrier to mathematician...I hope you do, too.
this video is good but it's more the lighter side of being a carrier. we're out at 1:20 am in the pitch black dark dodging tractor trailers & dogs, out in the snow sleet & rain & cold, being overworked underpaid & overtired. It's no longer a kiddie job, many adults are doing this in order to feed their families. It's a dangerous thankless job.
Wow, paper carrier do have a dangerous job, but this video completely does not explain the true dangers. this video is really stupid, I have been delivering newspaper for over 13 years and I have 7 paper routes. I am going to make a real documentary of a paper carrier, fuck this crap that tells nothing about the paper carrier.
My relative delivers paps in CT (USA) for 5 yrs. He gets up at 3AM (7 days/wk 365/yr), bags 200 paps at depot, and has to be tossed by 6:30A except Suns at 8:30A. Never run, never late (unless very good excuse), NEVER do doors unless they are handicapped & cleared w/your DM (or good tippers). Cust w/ loose dogs & iced/snowed up driveways get pap tossed at street. Xmas tips AWESOME & very reason for job (almost 4 figures!). Pay sucks, but good 2nd p.t. job. Pays bills if u clear $3-400 / 2 wks.
AND... never waste yr profits on convenience store junk food! Not only are you loading up on worthless carbs that you'll never burn off sitting in your car but the cost is almost $5-15 bucks a day! You're not making much more than that for your route daily, are you? Do the math. You're loosing money. Make a breakfast (2 hard boiled eggs, 2 turkey bacon strips, 1 toast, cup OJ and 1-2 cups coffee). You'll burn most of that off prepping yr paps at depot or in yr car. Eggs give u extra energy.

I am a circ. Director in Va. You seem to be a great carrier! As a circ Director, I appreciate the work folks like you do. We have carriers that have had routes for 25+ years. I was a carrier myself, then a District Manager, Single copy Mgr now a Circ Director. You seem to like what you do! I hope you stick with it and end up as a publisher somewhere someday! Thank You!

IMO it's a horrible job. $4.00 an hour (min wage here is $8.00), 2 days off a year, waking up at 2am every single morning, abuse from the drop managers, abuse from customers, shaved pay, you need to pay for your gas etc. The news companies cover it up because it would damage them.
you're so full of shit. i've delivered paps for almost 8 years and all i can say about the pap business is good things. the pay is good the managers are very very good and not to mention its the most fun an individual can ever have at job! GOD I LOVE ZE PAPS!

I am a circ. Director in Va. You seem to be a great carrier! As a circ Director, I appreciate the work folks like you do. We have carriers that have had routes for 25+ years.
