Nevertheless, if Obama is elected he will eventually be forced to disappoint his voters. Politics in a democratic society is a balancing of interests, not a revivalist meeting. It takes finesse, experience and power to transform ideas into reality. Hope and optimism can enhance these qualities, but they cannot replace them. Obama's message is more of a promise to heal the nation than a campaign platform.

polarconnections- I think he's done a pretty good job of explaining his political reform, both in speeches and in his second book. He plans coalition building, not taking money from lobbyists, engaging the American people, spending transparency, posting bills online so everyone can read them before he signs them into law or vetoes, setting national goals like Kennedy and Carter and many of our war-time Presidents have done, etc. If you have a question ask his campaign. I did and got a reply.

polarconnections, can you tell us how Hillary's approach to the presidency would be fundamentally different from Bill's? Both of them have been part of the dysfunctional Washington polical establishment for years. And neither seem willing to act against the interests of the Dem. Party, even if the larger national good is at stake.

For someone who slammed Obama on speech plagiarism, she took a page directly out of Edwards's debate almost verbatim. Hilary's "whatever happens, we're going to be fine, ..." remarks is nearly an exact copy of John Edwards. I don't like Clinton the Politician and I don't trust her at all, not because she too uses someone else's speech, but because she speaks of Pollyanna ideas and has no way to execute them without taxing us more and more and she is not a President for ALL Americans

This statement was very powerful, came off as warm and generous, and was politically brilliant. She is quite amazing. They both really are; great to have this kind of choice this election.

yes, it does turn out that Hillary could be said to be quoting John Edwards, but every single one of us, certainly including politicians, use each others'words. The plagiarism concerns in these cases, are mere distractions. Let's return to real discussions of real issues.

Hey Hillary people, please wake up! The Republicans need her to win the primary because she is the ONLY person that will energize and unite that sad, misguided political party. If she becomes the nominee, the Dems will lose the White House. People in OH, PA, TX, etc. -- a vote for Hill is a vote for the Republicans.

Hmmmmmmm. 7.5 million, compared to 9 Trillion Dollars, it almost weighs out my friend, and her last name is Clinton, even though, I support the candidate that doesn't have an agenda, or doesn't want to get in to do nothing, such as now.

You know it's a surprise that when we all go to the gas pumps, blood doesn't come out, because that's what this entire mess was about, and if you don't believe me, ask Cheney and Haliburton.
So SAD, at how the people were lied to, and even worse on how some of us responded so fast to get even, when we should have used strategy, and sound mind.
We get what we ask for, and we got Bush, but now his time is over, and the time for togetherness, and common sense is here!
