NO. He has been back in the bush for over a year now. He was being raised by a carer until he was old enough to be rehabilitated into the wild.
so aussies keep these things as pets like we Americans keep dogs and cats?...lol.

You don't, wombats are wild animals, they can become aggressive as they get older and will burrow through just about anything, your garden your front door, carpets etc.
