Perfect Singing for what it needs to be, perfect harmony for what it needs to be, "uncommon" chords mixed with some "common" ones (which is a lame critique anyway), and beautiful in and out of the studio. In fact more powerful live then recorded. Altough, the TV has seemed to make them (Gregg) a bit uncomfortable.

in the documentary released a year or two ago, there was an interview with greg dulli where he talked about the name. he said 'whigs' came from 19th century political party, and 'afghan' came from the place their favorite weed was grown.

it always has been difficult to pick up on his sarcasm in interviews, though, so who's to say whether this is accurate or not. =)
