I get the impression that your grandma doesnt want to see the anger and rage festering in some people. Daniel Plainview was waiting his whole life to kill Eli Sunday. Eli represented the antithesis of Daniel's long life of pain and sacrifice, and therefor when the final insult came, there simply must be bloodshed.

Your grandma seems like a cool person though :)
