What made this show stand out from the rest is it was naturally funny, it had no punch lines or set ups, for the audience to clap or laugh they laughed through out. The cosby show told stories that was real and funny and very entertaining Phylicia Rashad and Bill Cosby had the best chemistry between them then anyone else ever to have a sitcom.

Well yeah thats because lisa's life was a mess. She got pregnant from a couple men and had to leave the show in season 8 for almost all of it.

I downloaded the seasons but I think it's better to BUY the DVDs; to be sure you don't get any viruses. I absolutely love this show! It doesn't even seem like acting.

They're just naturally happy in the show. & that's what I love about it.

It's sad to think THESE were the good old days; . . . when I wasn't even born yet.

@chocolatemilkmaid she was fired twice, a different world started airing inbetween so she was back and forth but on the 2nd show she was acting bad,showed up late, even didnt show up at all and she did some naked pics and sex scenes so she got fired. then threatened to mess up bill cosby media wise so they got her on the cosbys but she kept being bad so they fired her for good and she wasnt invited to this special

@clearwhitecrystal Sorry to tell you, but the Cosby Show started airing 5 years before Family Matters did. Cosby was fresh and funny throughout its entire run, whereas Family Matters relied too much on tired Urkel jokes. The Cosby Show revived the family sitcom, and paved the way for all of those late 80s and 90s sitcoms. (Home Improvement, Fresh Prince, Roseanne, Family Matters, Everybody Loves Raymond, etc.) Especially those with a stand-up comic as its main character.

@clearwhitecrystal You were really joking when you actually wrote this right. The Cosby Show was way ahead of its time when it came out in the early 80s. Family Matters turned into the Urkel Show, it wasn't bad but it wasn't that great either.

I don't think people understand how great The Cosby Show was. Pretty much saved NBC's bacon AND resuscitated the sitcom genre. #1 for five straight years...there aren't too many shows that can say that. And it's most memorable moments are remembered by everyone. From the lip-synching of Ray Charles, to the goldfish's funeral, to Stevie Wonder's appearance...and my two favorites: Denise's 'rasta' boyfriend and her singing that song as Cliff looked on. And the "CHALLENGE" episode with Sandman Sims
