I really don't think reincarnation is real. If it were, the amount of organisms on this planet (not counting microorganisms) would remain exactly the same. How would the human population keep increasing if everyone's an already existing spirit?

The reason is that one remembers not just one version of one's past but any other alternate versions. The boy confirms rather than disproves past lives, even relivings of parts of present lifetime.
So he didn't remember his father's name correctly, his father didn't die, the dog wasn't his, and the family didn't have any children that died. Seems pretty inconclusive. Is this the best we can do?

I watched this all the way through and I'm convinced that he was the caretaker of the house, not a member of that family. Remember they said that the dog belonged to the caretaker and his wife. The can't come up with who the boy could have been in the alleged past life. There apparently is no one in the Robertson family who had been a child at the time they lived on the island who died before the boy was born whom he could be. A white house on a beach and a b/w sheepdog is not too much a coincidence, nor a common surname. I think the kid saw something on TV re the island and became intrigued by it. Imagination did the rest.

To support this kid, a logical explaination to the fact that there were no children who died and the memories should be from around the 60-70's, he could just have lived his live until the lets say ~2005 and then reincarnate as this kid.
I'm envisioning the alternative that someone who had "passed on" could not move on, and attached himself to this young boy, and the memories and emotions of the two mixed. Once the boy had visited the house, something had possibly resolved, the "guest" left, no more nightmares. They weren't his to begin with. Any thoughts?
@tubemank This is a plausible alternative explanation, although the fact is, all our lives are linked to some degree. No need for a wandering soul to attached itself to a child -- the child could have reached out and connected with the departed one, for a brief period of time.

@RevengeOfTheAbyss Most people will become a memory in the collective consciousness, and will not have a "form" - or a person born will be a composite of other memories, but not the actual people themselves. Reincarnation depends on a "soul" - the ability to exist as pure awareness, those who are souls started off as composites of many other beings, part of the ongoing process of evolution.
@RevengeOfTheAbyss It follows the logic that there is no "self" and that we are all one collective being, but also that there is a kind of being that is an existence unto themselves, and thus "immortal" - unless they "fall" back into the collective consciousness. I don't think that anything or anyone can truly live "forever" - but memories of our ancestors will always live on in our minds, and we will only have form and substance because they had existed before us.

However, for some reason or another, some individuals have such a large chunk of memory from specific people attributed to them when they are born, that they can sufficiently believe that they "were" that person in the past. In fact, all they carry is the memory.
@RevengeOfTheAbyss I think that you have clumps of memories that sort of "roll into" each other, or "snowball" over time, as I die I will contain memories of many people, and if another person with other memories combines with my memories and these live on in a new being, then the new being will be composed of all the others before him/her. Also, there has to be a population function, that is, bodies vs soul, less bodies, more souls in each body, more bodies, less souls in each bodies.

Possibly after many many millions of years, it settles on another planet, and the beings evolving there will pick up its memories from past existances, making it a kind of oversoul, and if they die they become a part of it again, or reform anew.

So my "son" will live on as a new being, but I will die to become part of another being, and if I have enough "sons" overtime, then I will somehow be liberated, and become my own kind of "oversoul" - it seems to be a very flexible dynamic thing, not something ordered and systemmatic as religion would have us believe.
That kind of makes no sense. What you are suggesting is physically and energetically implausible. How can memories mingle with each other and form into new bodies? Where would these memories be at the time of conception into the new body? in the man's sperm? or would this memory composite, soul, whatever, project itself into the fetus in the first months of pregnancy? the physical evidence does not match up with the collective memory.

I just recently remembered a few things from my past life, I was a woman who committed suicide at a clinic or hospital. I was sick or dying, I remember there being a money problem which is what drove me to jump out of the window. I had a brother I believe, and no other siblings, I hated my mother as she was very bitter, she did come to visit me at where ever it was at though. I do remember my mother being left by her husband, she was never the same after that, my father left her for a man..
I do believe these are his genuine memories from a past-life. Why else would he recall them with such distinction, conviction, and in the first-person viewpoint? So he knows about the house, the dog, the last name etc. But there's no father figure, and no child that Cameron could have been. Once life formed, i don't see how this new "soul" energy came into existence. There are 7 main forms of energy, a soul is not one of them. Our neurons form during pregnancy, but that is separate from a soul forming during pregnancy. If a soul does exist, it is not of any detectable energy, which is why i don't buy it being the scientist that i am.

It's pretty simple if there is any truth to this, the boy was a friend of the children that lived there the dog belonged to him. That explains why he knows the children and watching them play, and knows there last name but not the first name of the Dad. He was the neighbor boy that longed to be part of that family.

It's fairly easy to fit the liar liar pattern on this story, and its very hard to fit the past life one. I was like him as a child, I saw ghost and the ora of dead trees trunks and my family kind of believed me. I never told them it was all kid's lie, because they are deep in that set of belief now. The can't come up with who the boy could have been in the alleged past life. There apparently is no one in the Robertson family who had been a child at the time they lived on the island who died before the boy was born whom he could be. A white house on a beach and a b/w sheepdog is not too much a coincidence, nor a common surname. I think the kid saw something on TV re the island and became intrigued by it. Imagination did the rest.

I'm envisioning the alternative that someone who had "passed on" could not move on, and attached himself to this young boy, and the memories and emotions of the two mixed. Once the boy had visited the house, something had possibly resolved, the "guest" left, no more nightmares. They weren't his to begin with. Any thoughts?

You'd be surprised how many souls have been frightened by religious fanatics into fearing judgment and refusing to move on. In the end, I really felt for the young lad and his emotional burden. @RevengeOfTheAbyss It follows the logic that there is no "self" and that we are all one collective being, but also that there is a kind of being that is an existence unto themselves, and thus "immortal" - unless they "fall" back into the collective consciousness. I don't think that anything or anyone can truly live "forever" - but memories of our ancestors will always live on in our minds, and we will only have form and substance because they had existed before us.

@RevengeOfTheAbyss Memory seems to continue among people, but it does not mean that we "were" that person, in more eloquent terms. However, for some reason or another, some individuals have such a large chunk of memory from specific people attributed to them when they are born, that they can sufficiently believe that they "were" that person in the past. In fact, all they carry is the memory.

@RevengeOfTheAbyss I think that you have clumps of memories that sort of "roll into" each other, or "snowball" over time, as I die I will contain memories of many people, and if another person with other memories combines with my memories and these live on in a new being, then the new being will be composed of all the others before him/her. Also, there has to be a population function, that is, bodies vs soul, less bodies, more souls in each body, more bodies, less souls in each bodies.

@RevengeOfTheAbyss Thus, it would take a very "ancient" being to have a significant level of memory, or enough memory to form its own kind of "program" that integrates each new body and souls it acquires into its consciousness, become a composite being. Possibly after many many millions of years, it settles on another planet, and the beings evolving there will pick up its memories from past existances, making it a kind of oversoul, and if they die they become a part of it again, or reform anew.

@RevengeOfTheAbyss Because the new beings created and the original beings share the same memory, we have a kind of spiritual/creative reproduction or childbirth occurring. So my "son" will live on as a new being, but I will die to become part of another being, and if I have enough "sons" overtime, then I will somehow be liberated, and become my own kind of "oversoul" - it seems to be a very flexible dynamic thing, not something ordered and systemmatic as religion would have us believe.

That kind of makes no sense. What you are suggesting is physically and energetically implausible. How can memories mingle with each other and form into new bodies? Where would these memories be at the time of conception into the new body? in the man's sperm? or would this memory composite, soul, whatever, project itself into the fetus in the first months of pregnancy? the physical evidence does not match up with the collective memory.

Don't know if you've heard of electromagnetism, micro waves, radio waves, quantum physics, laser beams, fiber optics, black holes, photons, electrons, atoms, quarks, or what have you. This whole universe is made up of energy. And you say that this is 'physically and energetically implausible'? It is absolutely plausible that our mind/soul/core/self/thoughts is existing without physicality and take new forms. Indeed, it does.

I found also that this left me with a lot of 'whys' and 'hows' too; for such an interesting story it seems to suggest more towards the possibility of past-lives without trying to prove it scientifically. I just recently remembered a few things from my past life, I was a woman who committed suicide at a clinic or hospital. I was sick or dying, I remember there being a money problem which is what drove me to jump out of the window. I had a brother I believe, and no other siblings, I hated my mother as she was very bitter, she did come to visit me at where ever it was at though. I do remember my mother being left by her husband, she was never the same after that, my father left her for a man..

I do believe these are his genuine memories from a past-life. Why else would he recall them with such distinction, conviction, and in the first-person viewpoint? The explanation that he was told about this place and the way of life by another individual is certainly an argument that can be put forth as a rational explanation. But it doesn't hold water. He even recalls his own death....
It could be indeed true that the 'Shane' father figure could be from a past life.

So he knows about the house, the dog, the last name etc. But there's no father figure, and no child that Cameron could have been. It's far more likely that one of the Robertson family was on TV or met Cameron and told stories about growing up on Barra in a white house with a black and white dog and Cameron adopted the story as his own. I don't doubt he actually believed it happened to him, but everything about this can be explained without reincarnation.

None of the past lives can be fitted with real events because the Universe, according to recent theory, has up to 12 dimensions.
That means, in layman's terms, that there are parallel universes interacting with out own and if reincarnation is real then there would be no reason not to be incarnated into a parallel world.

This incidence, if true, might be due to the child's mind's frequency has been matched well with the dead soul's frequency. Just the same as when we set the TV on sky news, and see only sky news. All the past life regressions might be some kind of frequency matches. If you see someone doing something in the Sky news you will "know" about his deeds, but he is a different person.

There is no such thing as reincarnation. The devil is the one who puts these images and thoughts into peoples heads. He wants people to believe that they will have a second chance at life. This is not true. The bible says,"It is appointed for a man to die ONCE and after that the judgement." If reincarnation were true, Jesus Christ would not have had to die for our sins. Because HE took our sins we don't have to keep coming back to work them out. We just need to put our trust in Him.
