  • hy,

is this a diesel? if so...you should let the engine in second position for a few seconds (10 to 20 seconds) in order to preheat and to pomp fuel in engine.

  • I hate seeing a jeep cherokee in the snow. Cause you know that floor is eventually gonna be rusted out.

  • @raysfan2 Huh, I have a 1996 Jeep XJ that is in perfect condition. Why would you not want to see a Jeep XJ in the snow? They are one of the best stock 4X4s for driving in the snow ever made; so why not have one doing what they do best! It is all based on how much salt they use on the roads. I am at 7100' ASL in Nevada, which we get 20ft+ of snow a year, but nothing rust up here, since they are very limited on how much salt they can use.

  • you can depend on a good ol jeep cherokee

  • ooh man that was a rowdy start! alwell, cant wait to get my cherokee this month!!

  • Does it have a chime or buzzer?

  • You using a 40wt oil?

  • I think you need a new battery man, Ive cranked my 98 over in -25F weather and it started alot faster then that. Scan gauge is pretty cool that it reads horsepower and fuel consumption but for $160 I think id rather get a new exhaust. Just my opnion though.

  • It sounds like it is saying "no,no,no,no whatever rmmm."

  • Mine Will do the same, i live in Colorado and we got to -20 i think and mine started up just fine. Jeeps are the best.

  • @bubbacola190 Amen, brother, I am at 7100' ASL in east central Nevada, and we see temps of -40 or less (air temps, too; wind-chills are -100 every winter). I only run Exide batteries up here, since they have been the best so far. I have seen many cheaper batteries die in less than 1 winter up here. BTW, my rig is a lifted 96 Jeep XJ, and it never takes that long to turn over with my big ole Exide!

  • You have to switch light for a half minute and start and engine

  • @mishenkovks This is a myth. All you're doing is using up valuable battery power.

  • How much was that, and where do you live?

  • My Toyota Cynos 1300 is very good starting/

  • First thing I would do after it started is drive the hell outta N Dakota. Why would anybody want to live there ?

  • not gonna lie.. i laughed at the sound it made while starting hahaha

  • Dang that thing took a lot of rotations to start. My grand prix gt starts in 3 turns MAX in that evil northern weather.

  • my poor jeep in its condition couldn't start that cold. It's hard to start as it is. It has a problem where the fuel pump loses suction so you have to crank it a few times before it starts. I would have fixed it but I don't have $800.

  • I'm not looking forward to that. Not sure if mine will even turn over at those temps.

  • lol at the battery guage xD

  • my diesel could start up better than that

  • Minus 30.... there is no way I would live there in the winter.... I bet it is fantastic in the summer though!!!!!! I cant believe that beast even started.... your oil must be solid wax at that temp..... How about a Block heater?????

  • LOL yea. No power. Just monitors various parameters as well as reads and clears trouble codes.

  • Hello, I am looking at getting the scangauge 2 for my 96 f150, Just have a couple questions, Does this scan gauge give you anymore horse power? And if you dont mind me asking how much did it cost? Thanks

    Brandon

  • The scan gauge will normally give you an extra 40-50 horsepower after you plug it in. It does essentially the same thing as a mod chip or nitrous. It is $160 from amazon.

  • What? are you insane? It doesn't give you any power at all. It gives you various engine specs. You are thinking of an HP tuner.

  • Actually I am responding to BCAlipine above who asks if it gives more horsepower. If he is really that stupid than I am willing to egg him on. Of course I know it doesn't give extra horsepower.

  • @oisiaa LOL

  • @BCAlipine no hp gains but it gives all the info you will ever need about your truck,,,,$160 with free overnight from scangauge web page but its cheaper at autozone ,,,,,im thinking $150

  • That's about what my '94 Cherokee would sound like when starting it at temps like that. The coldest I've tried starting it w/o any assistance (block heater, oil pan heater, etc) was -42*F. It made all kinds of funky noises but it started up. These Jeeps rock!

  • good vid thx
