  • How do I get the rivets out of the core so that I can reuse the core

  • @thevinceful a drill slightly smaller than the rivets. make sure to use a vice to keep the core in place. dont drill in your hand like i do... hahaha

  • Part 1 ????

  • is there a way to do this without damaging the core?

  • @watthefrack02 Yup I'm doing that right now, lol. Just cut the rivet between the cubie and core and drill it out when you're done.

  • when i click to watch this vid it said that there was an error and said they dispatched monkeys to fix it....it was weird.

  • @aaronf32123 that's a win by youtube :D problems are fixed by highly trained monkeys

  • is it possible to take a really large pair of pliers and twist of then center peice

  • i just watched a 10 min video on how to mod a rubiks cube....i dont have a rubiks cube

  • @randomcuber1 lol :-P

  • Can't just use a big pair of side cutters to clip that off?? Instead of the hack saw of Dremel............

  • can i just order some Alpha or Dayan hardware and use that instead?

  • so its a DIY DIY

  • @blackzabbathfan lol yep

  • best 20 minute song ever!

  • @skyskelton97 thanks

  • is it possible to do this with out the extra core?

  • how do u do that thing u did at 10:31- 10:35?? someone answer me plz

  • @xDeCrappyComedy R,U,R',U' six times.

  • the edges will come off easier now. lol

  • lol 10:37.

  • but this is pointless though. you might as well just by a diy and save time and money

  • @jakeatollah

It's more for if you already have a storebought but you want to make it better I would think

  • ok first off if you guys are having problems keeping your center caps on insted of glueing them just put some silly putty in there so you can take the caps off later if you want but they never come off when turning! second does anyone know a good way to stop the screws from loosing by them selfs?

  • It's at 10:31-10:34

  • What type of algorithms are you doing to the rubik cube at the end that you repeat that it brings it back to normal?

  • @legoStarter R,U,R',U' six times.

  • where's part one of this?

  • easyest way to do the first cut is with wire cutters also know as dikes or needle nose plyers.

  • can't you just use pliers to pry off the rivet?

  • im doing it to my rubiks 5x5 i litraly had to distroy the core to replace it

  • i cant seem to pry of the caps of my mirror blocks or bump cube. It turns very well but its just so damn tight please help!

  • can't you just pry off the caps and use pliers to adjust the rivet? would that work? please respond

  • @TheWolf739 naw you cant adjust the rivets

  • can i use sticky tack on cluing the center caps???

  • when you say you can reuse the core, How?

  • im just going to use my jigsaw for the first part :)

  • 100th comment!!!!

  • thank you!! i have a beter cube now then the rubik's brand one from this mod!!! im gama order some cube smith tiles for it

  • Thanks! It's great now that I got the tension so it doesn't pop as much. Great, 5. Stars!

  • I did this mod to my new storebought. I have a new main speedcube :D

  • Thank you very much for this. To you, we take our caps off. XD

  • what if you use the old core? how are you going to put the screws in their. please someone please answer

  • i lol'd at the end

  • Sweet I'll get a c4y core ($0.69!!) with my next order so I can do this to my storebought. It's a good thing cubeforyou gives you two sets of screws and springs now. =)

  • you can make it tighter before you super glue on right

  • yeah adjust before you glue

  • i just did this. great tutorial! but it's a lot easier and faster to cut through the core and the rivets with wire cutters

  • from 5:55 to 6:22 it looks like your left index finger is bent. good tutorial!!

  • hey pestvic do you know how to buy 4x4 rrubbks cube brand pieces cuz i broke one and im wondering if i can just buy 1 piece or buy a new 4x4

  • you can get them at cubesmith

  • oh thanks man

  • That Rivet in the storebought is actually a screw right? could you not just cut the top of the rivet so that you can use a screwdriver on it to adjust the cube?

  • naw its just a rivet pole looking thing. that gets pushed in and gets stuck in. they cant be adjusted

  • why dont you just disasemble the cube, take the caps of with this method, replace the bad rubiks screws and you made the same thing with the same core.

  • wats the point if you have to order from cub4you to get a core. You cube just get a diy from there for the same price.

  • true, but this is for ppl with extra cores LOL

  • Nice!

where did you get the core , screws and springs?

I Can do it with rubik's but where to buy core!

  • u should wait to clue the caps on after u assemble it so that way u can get your prefered tension then clue them on

  • where do u get a core??

  • great tutorial thanx man..... it is actually better than my type a's

  • so why are you "modding" a rubiks cube, just to make it spin faster?

  • YOu're adding screws and springs. The springs make it cut corners better and the screws make it adjustable. If you want to make it faster, you have to lubricate it, sand it internally or just get a better cube.

  • Comment removed

  • i tried cutting it but it wouldn't cut through the screw so i just gave up lol.

  • Glad your back. Hope to see those great videos remastered!

  • Yo vic what happened to making vids? you havent made one in 2 months

  • two are being uploaded right now :)

  • how bad would it be if i use the orginal core?

  • i dont know if it would work, but use a dollar store cube core (cause the core is just screw structure. if you turn it enough i think you could use that core.

  • hobby kife is the real name

    xacto is a company

  • oh well when i bought it it said xacto knife haha

  • are you sure this is a great modification?I heard a lot of people says their cube pops like hell!My rubik's 3x3 is manufacture by Rubik so does it pops a lot if I do this mod?

  • it only pops if you arent good enough to control it. its like any other loose diy its a great mod

  • oh I see thanks :) does setting perfect tension help to prevent pops?

  • yep but sometimes on certain cubes it makes it tight so if you set it. then you need to use it a lot untill its broken in with some jigaloo then its amazing

  • thanks for the tips :)

  • lawl 10:37:D

  • Hey Pestvic, there are two part 2's.

  • Comment removed

  • lol fuck i got a dola stor cube toke all core and skrews out and its shit(meh im gona get a diy 2 day)

  • ....just found out that it pops every 30 seconds i dont know why i may need a bigger core.... but im not sure...your springs seem tighter and stuff ill figure it out but if youve got any ideas tell me i have no clue why it happens so much

  • PESTVIC!!!!!!!! hey sup i really like your vids and this one is the best. Just because, puzzlaholic or whatever had a great idea to get dollar store cubes that come with core, screws and springs and put em on the storebought. i wanted a diy from cube4you but with the canadian dollar plus shipping it would be 37 dollars. so this video is just what i wanted thank you!!!! (i will prolly get a good core and screws and springs but im too lazy right now. that is for later.) thanks!!!!!!!

  • nice! i need to try that soon :)

  • man i opend a cheap cube and go the core but its like skinny and samll and badly mad so meh

  • is shipping expensive?

  • i cant get the cap off help me!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i can ...

  • where do i get the screws?

  • hardware stores

  • how do i use the original core. you said it was possible and right now my rubiks cube is totally messed up. please help!

  • thats a long process and takes drilling out the rivet out of the core

  • can you make a tutorial on that?

  • is that a store bought rubik's cube?

  • yep :)

  • Where could i buy springs? will springs from a pen work?

  • yeah probably :)

  • ok. and thanks for the reply. The video's maker never usually replies to me.

I got lucky w/ my 1st cube because itdoes have spring tension for some reason, but my other cube and all of my friends cubes are stiff. Im gonna try this mod on all of the cubes and see if my friend can pull better times.

  • One more question... ...are the new cores already threaded in the inside? I dont wanna buy a screw that has the more or less threading than the threading inside the core, because obviouslt i might strip the inside of the core

  • Im really lucky. The 1st rubiks cube i got on Dec 25th, alredy had really good springs in it, and after using it for a while i broke it in and made it a bit faster, then gave it a light sanding and hit it with some silicone spray, and now its as good as a DIY.

My friend ownd 4 rubiks brand cubes and all of them suck. he keeps asking to buy my 1st cube but i wont part with Rubecca.

im going to try this mod with 2nd rubiks cube (which was fake. fuckin taget!) and c how it works out

  • couldn't you buy center caps and use those to make it more like a diy

  • this video sucked. u talk 2 much man! just saw off the core piece. and even u sucked at that too! u should have cut the video until u finished it

  • Thanks that was a good video

  • IF I didn't have and extra core what would I do to the core you cut off the center piece in order to use the that core again? Because it looks like you wouldn't be able to use the core again cause of that metal being in the core and not being able to screw the screws in. Plz reply. Thanks

  • sup vic, got the enthusiasm to do cubes again? I did, working on a 21.34 average right now..

  • ive been thinking about it haha

  • ok cool,thanks.

  • i was just wondering, is there any way to adjust the tension on the rubik's brand cube?

  • ehhh two answers. no and yes.

no as in there is no screws on a rubiks brand. but yes as in if you watch my break in method videos. you can loosen the cube by stretching :)

  • i have some spare screws that can be used on my cube but i don't have extra springs..can i reuse the rubik's brand springs?

  • yeah you can but it still might give you that springy sound :-P

  • will this take away the springy noise?

  • I did this and it made my cube so much worse, just sayin

  • hmm must of done something weird? cause all mine feel amazing. it also depends on the core and what not you use :)

  • dude i have alot of 3x3 and the part where u put the xacto knife, i can never find it as easily as u just did!!! UGH!

    W3 mI$s Y0u!

  • how do you get the metal out of the core pest?

  • wilson, you cant use the core, you have to buy a new one.

  • he said you can use the core he said but its not worth it

  • What do you guys use to lube your cube?!? I use Krylon Silicone Spray and its working like a charm for me!!! But what do the rest of y'all use?!?

  • azurezinc you can bend it back and forth to breack it you dont need a saw

  • can*

  • i dont have a saw,what else cna i use?

  • how do you get the spring out without cutting the center off?

  • why do you still use rubik store cubes? just get a:

-Rubiks Diy Core with Type B Cubies

-DS Core With Type A Cubies

    -Type "D" DIY

  • uhmm.... if you listened to him...

this is for people who can't afford

those "hybrids' you are talking about...

  • they're cheaper than a normal store cube.

  • maybe in your area but some parts of the States and the world have difficulty getting DIY's..

store-bought cubes are still more accessible though...

  • not if your in the Philippines...

  • You pull it back to start it, because it cuts when you push forward..... :P

  • i did this to two of my cubves its realy good!!!!

  • oopss i mean 10:36

  • hahahahahah lol at 10:37

  • THANKS DUDE!!!!!

  • Hi Vic,

    thanks

  • this should be a DIY cube type R for rubiks :P

  • lol

  • just a thing on the cores, i got a dollar store cube, and it's a diy but it's too square so i just use that core and used the tiles on the other cubes. thanks!:)

  • dollar store cubes can't be a DIY just because it's white.

    I highly doubt it's a DIY, though.

If you can just pop out a center cap with it having no screws or springs, then it's just a knockoff rubik's[I'd know from past experiences]

  • However, dollar store cubes are infact screw spring structure, so this would work. How did you get that it was white?

  • Most off brand cubes are either white[not saying white DIY cubes are off brand because they have give great performances than the knockoffs], lime-ish green, or like a magenta color. Or well, those are the ones I've seen that are fake cubes.

  • it has a screw spring structure with a nice core. the plastic is crap and so are the corner and edge piece structures. that's why for this mod i'm going to use those...

  • Did you get one of those 'Magic Cubes' that comes in one of those blue-ish boxes?

  • were are those i have never seen those in stores

  • dollar store cubes r too crap to be DIY

  • thanks for the RM. I tried this and I blistered my thumb...man it still hasnt healed...:P

  • cool..i might make it but then thats gonna take forever to make.

  • 4th view 3rd comment

  • wtf,

  • cool

i could never do that. XD
