guess what folks, some people dont wanna mudder, they want to have fun with what they got, which is how the sport got started. it wasn't that long ago (like 10 years) that thwere were more stock trucks with a set of mudders thrown on it on the trails than big ones, 33s were the norm 35s were big tires, and 40's were for the big boys, now 35s are small, 40s are normal, 44s are big and cheater tires are more prominent all the time. i say take a stock beater out and just have some fun, amen fellas

Hey i want to put some 285-75-16 maxxis buckshot tires on my 01 z71 silverado, did you have any trouble with those destination tires rubbing on anything, is that why you took the bumper off??, also when you hit a bump do the tires hit the fender wells, with the suspension travel being limited by the larger tires.

diesels are too heavy& too much torque for mud.. Why I will always buy a gas silverado. I have owned the big 6.0 HD, and now a 5.3 v-81500. Great in mud. Diesels and mud don't mix.

I would rather have high end power over low end torque.. As much as I like duramax's, I will still keep my vortec powerd silverado's.

@CSXtrackworker I like the benefits of both in my 2500HD which I why I love my 8.1 big block with the ZF 6 speed. The 8.1 makes diesel like torque with 200 ft lbs at idle (455 at peak), yet still revs strong to 5000 rpm. With the granny low gear and low range in the transfer case it has a 65:1 crawl ratio capable of 30,000 ft lbs of torque to the ground. 496 cubic inches do get THIRSTY if you work them hard, but even with the 34" tires I can get 13-15 mpg if I drive it easy. Goes everywhere.

The 6.0 is my fav engine that GM has, I like this 5.3 I have now, but I will def be going back to a HD with the 6.0 when I pay this thing off. I took a chance when I bought this truck I have now, it is ok. But, I will def have my HD back again. That mileage was what I was getting with my HD.

You can do either or.. Some people prefer standard tranny's in off-roading. Me, I prefer automatic.. My resoning, you might be in too high of a gear, going through a spot that doesnt look bad at all, then realize oop's you fucked up, and it is a little deeper than you thought. Lose all momentum, bog out come to a stop, and then get stuck. Seen it happen many a time. But, peoples opinions differ on this, and this is only mine.
