The song is Little Boxes. It's by malvina reynolds. I saw her perform it at Mariposa festival on Toronto Island when i was a kid back in the 70's.

By the way, the singers of this version (the McGarrigle sisters) are from Québec (born in Montréal). So yeah, that's why you hear a Québécois accent.

Yeah, it looks like Québec French. That's what I tought when I heard that. Maybe they are not Québécois, but their French has been influenced by Québec's one. For example, we clearly hear the "pis" instead of "et" or "puis".

Why not? American English is still English, even if it's not European English. So Québec French is still French, and believe me, Québec is almost more French than France (that's what tourists say when they come in Québec... even Europeans).

Nobody really knows, but the most common interpretation is that it's something like play-doh or clay; so, all the things are made out of clay and look the same.

There arte a few words, such as "Pacotille", "Toc" and so on, but it's not as beautiful as Ticky Tacky

The beginning of season 2 changed the opening song on every episode. So episode 4 had it in French and the actual episode was in English.
