What I notice is how he continued to improve his shows, especially tightening up his band peroformance. Also, these songs are not easy to play live, particularly Elliott's guitar picking while he is playing, and yet his timing is flawless. He is so good.
He was so good, it's tough to listen to music nowadays- I still do, of course, but i always find myself comparing it to Illiotts. It doesn't have to be the same style or genre- but it just never can match up to him. Death Cab for Cutie is pretty cool. But I think the really good players know this guy was great and they can't match up to him.
Agree on the song, its my favourite Elliott Smith song too. But I would say Either / Or is by far and away his best album ... I suppose because it has my other favourite Elliott Smith song, Cupids Trick ... hehe!
Check out jeff buckley, they were both amazing but buckley was a far superior singer, not to say elliott wasn't a good singer, more to imply that Buckley was one of the greatest male singers of the 20th century. They are both, however, amazing artists.
Jeff Buckley was probably one of the greatest male voices of all time, let alone the 20th century. There really is a lot of comparison to the way they both went about songwriting, though the product isn't necessarily the same.
wow, no stupid people clicking the dislike button! :D
