She wants to stand apart. There is your ego, right there.

The shaman is always a liar, some ego nut (because they know they are not a "shaman") and a broken person; nothing more. Not some delicate and rare breed, but a broken and truthless liar; a magician that fails to amuse and claims incomprehensible power is at work.
