  • How can i run my oil lines? Someone said to "T" off the oil pressure sensor. But i thought it would be easier to get a oil filter plate and run my feed like that?

  • @BBoyELEVATE You can do either. I prefer to use the oil pressure sensor location. If you use the oil filter location, make sure you use a restrictor fitting on the turbo because the pressure and flow is much greater there. You don't want flood the turbo and you don't want to lose oil pressure across the block

  • @03Eclipse Yea, i was having a hard time finding out the thread size on the Oil pressure sensor. It's 1/8 right? I have a couple other question if you don't mind... I got evo8 fuel rail, FPR and stock evo 560 Injectors. I got the DSM clips so my question is could i just wire the DSM clips to the 3g ones? Or is the whole DSM harness required?

  • @BBoyELEVATE It's been a long time, but I believe the oil pressure sensor is 1/8 BSPT thread. I believe I have a 1/8 BSPT male -> 1/8 NPT female adapter, then I'm using a 4-way 1/8 NPT t-fitting. One port is for my Autometer oil pressure gauge (1/8 NPT), one is for my oil feed (1/8 NPT), and the other end is capped off. No need for the dummy light if you have a real pressure gauge. You should be fine to just wire the clips on, no need for the whole harness.Evo injectors are high impedance right?

  • @03Eclipse I have no idea if the injectors are high or low impedance? How can i tell? I also decided to run my feed line from the oil filter with the sandwich plate. You also said to get a restrictor fitting so i read in a forum that some turbos already come with the fitting. I'm running a little t-25 from a 99 gsx, would you know anything about the t-25?

  • @BBoyELEVATE I'm pretty sure stock Evo injectors are high impedance; a quick google search will tell you your answer. I'm not sure what size the oil inlet is on the T25, but I'd assume its somewhere in the neighborhood of -4 AN. That's probably still a little too big, but just try to model your oil system closely to the GSX as far as where the oil comes from and how big the lines are. There's not too much science to it

  • @BBoyELEVATE If the injectors are low impedance, then you will need to wire in resistors or a DSM resistor pack because the 3G ECU has high impedance drivers. If you don't wire in some resistance, you will burn up the drivers on the ECU

  • @BBoyELEVATE thanks man. you're taking a risk running any amount of boost without adding fuel to compensate for the extra air. your car MIGHT be okay at 4 psi, but you would have to drive it very gently and try to stay out of boost as best as you can. it would be in your best interest to wait until you have the injectors and something to tune with (reflashed Evo 8 ECU is your best bet) before you throw the turbo on

  • @BBoyELEVATE once again I would not recommend running ANY boost without tuning. Putting in bigger injectors without scaling them will cause your car to run super rich... it will be hard to drive and you will foul your spark plugs continuously. Just save your money for a tune and do it right. Or if you really want to cut corners, just get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and use that to adjust your fueling.

Plus people fail to realize this video is almost 4 years old and my car is way faster now, so their insults are completely irrelevant. 3Gs are nice cars, and with the 4-banger you can get it boosted for cheap and make 300whp all day long, and you'll be way more unique than the run-of-the-mill boosted Honda or DSM

  • @03Eclipse nope, as i said, it runs out of steam about 95mph. it's a 6.0, about 350HP/TQ. it's basically a GTO motor cammed for low end RPM.

  • Word of advice to you little teeny boys out there, the Eclipse is a great quality vehicle, its not ALL about speed. I have a 2001 GT and blew away some little kiddies in there lil cheapo Chevy Cobalt SS Turbo. The quality in those cars is crap, i drove one that was a used 2005 and i thought the thing was gonna fall apart. The Eclipse GT(2001) goe's from 0-60 in 7.2 seconds, stock, for a car that cost me 7,900$ thats no slouch. 2006 Mustang V6...6.9 sec. Had one took off like a stone, hated it.

I only bought them so that they would match my pillar gauges (the only reason I got indiglo pillar gauges was because I got a good deal), but I'm slowly working on converting my interior to non-indiglo. It was a bit too "ricey" for me

  • @crakere Funny that you can't read , I was responding to the guy saying his bolt ons make his car just as fast as this turbo car. Intake and exhaust made a difference on 70's and 80's cars, most modern cars will net less than 5 horsepower with an aftermarket intake/exhaust. Cheaper systems usually actually hurt your horsepower, but i guess having a chrome intake and fart cannon is cool to some people, I prefer my black plastic intake and stainless muffler my car came with.

  • The 4G64 is a great motor and it won't blow for a long time as long as you have a good tune. I've put on around 15k miles at 10+ psi and it's still pulling strong. Just make sure you have a good tuning device. Since you have an 03 RS, I would recommend you look into an ECU reflash. There is plenty of information about this on club3g:com

Pistons, injectors, cam gears..anything? How does it run? What are some problems you have been seeing? Well i got a 03 RS and i really want to turbo it but i want to know if it can handle it all stock?

  • Finally, a good question NOT about gauges, lol. The engine is completely stock (block/head). The injectors are 650cc, backed by an Evo VIII fuel rail and FPR, and a walbro 255 lph fuel pump. It is tuned by an AEM EMS. It runs great other than a few minor tuning issues, but nothing a one-time professional tune wouldn't be able to fix.

  • Yeah, a few summers ago. It made 230whp and 260wtq @ 8psi. This was all below 5000 RPM also because at ~5k, it would start breaking up. I still haven't quite pinpointed the problem, but it's quite a bit faster now with bigger injectors and an Evo VIII fuel rail and FPR

  • it would start to breakup due to lack of fuel. if you get upgrade your fuel system a little more it wouldnt do that. XD but none the less, your car is still fast.

  • Motor is all stock.

    Fuel system is FIC 650cc injectors, Evo VIII fuel rail + FPR, Walbro 255lph fuel pump, AEM EMS with speed density conversion

    AFC does nothing for 3G eclipses because the ECU automatically corrects back to normal after you make adjustments

  • did you say yours shuts off at 117? i use to own a 2001 GS and everitime i toped it out i got a little higher, until it finally stopped at 127. Now i own a 2000 GT with 78,000 miles and it goes until redline :) about 155MPH.

  • No, I "shut down", meaning I took my foot off the gas. These cars have no speed limiter so there's no way for them to "shut off" at a given speed. I've done 155 in this car and could have gone faster because my redline is set to 6500 rpm on my AEM EMS

  • Mine first shut off at 119 and then it shut of at 127, i never even got close to 150. when i hit 127 i would lose all the power, lights would stay on, but motor was off and everything. odd eh?

  • I would get the eclipse, although the integras have strong blocks and the Acura/Honda world has tons of aftermarket swaps and upgrades. One thing that I woud MAKE SURE is that whatever car you pick it has not been romped on too hard... even a 99 is ten years old, 100k+ miles, and both of those cars are known rice-rods that a kid drove from 16-18 years old.   • My brother had a '99 Eclipse GSX and I loved it. If you go that route just make sure you get the 6 bolt motor and you can make a beast. The stock 7 bolt is doomed to failure.

  • I need some major help....My parents are getting me a car and I recently fell in love with eclipses. I found a couple for sale. I found a 94 manual with nice rims and a body kit. But the front and back bumper peices needs to be replaced. Also the car wont stay crunk. Idk what that could be. Then on the other hand there is a 97 manual which i dont know to much about it but it seems like its in better condition but none of the upgrades. What should I do? And why wont the 94 stay running?

  • I have no idea why the 94 won't stay running. It could be caused by millions of things. If I were you, I would go with the 97. I don't really consider body kits an "upgrade", I think they're more of a hassle. It sounds like the 94 needs some work. Plus, you have no idea who did the modifying and if they messed something up in the process.

  • the 97 manual is 95% likely to have the stock 7bolt 4g63 which means the light/stock mods are perfect. if you overmod that motor it has a higher risk of getting crankwalk and then ur screwed. In my opinion, if you wanna mod ur car, stay away from 7bolt motors. go with first of third gen eclipses, or get a 2nd gen with a 6bolt motor (common to find, many people swap them)
