This is box-on-box 990k draw works operated land rig. The draw works work like a pulley system that the rigging cables are fed through, resting on forged sheaves; and ran through a huge spool motor(can vary in size) and can be electric or hydraulic;and is usually powered by a separate SCR house(festoon system). These are the kind of rigs I design, of course mine are better :p
OSE II the non toxic oil spill clean up that can prevent natural resource damage even in spills like the Exxon Valdez, and the BP Gulf spill. OSE II when permitted in the drilling response plans, would give the public confidence drilling could occur and natural resources protected at the same time.
Tell Drill to get that thing in the air next time. Seriously though, this is done with hydraulics. Has to be to go that slow. Smooth but dangerous imo. Roughneck Up.
@TexasHolePoker are you retarded? its a jackknife rig, derrick is pulled up with the draw works. Do you see any hydraulic rams on the derrick anywhere?
LOL, Jordo, wtf is the diff between an oil rig and a drill rig? I work oil rigs and am smart enough to know they are the same damned thing. I am embarrassed for you.
I thought it was a cactus rig...Cactus are the only ones around here sticking that color up. They make it seem like they get this done in 7 min...HAHAHAHA. Half the time Theres no tool pusher truck pusher or anything, just a contracted trucking company lining up to to pile all that on a tiny location. Then you have the Co. bringing the Co. Man trailer squeezing in trying to get their shit together, everyones cussing each other out on the C.B and shit...not fun under the Texas panhandle sun.
nah no anchors. they stake the well . drill rig moves in. drills the hole. sets casing. gets out. then they come in and set anchors. then ur workover rig comes in and does what it needs.
I used to build these oil rigs in houston. We'd stand one up every month. Took like 6 moths to build from scratch, the whole assembly. Derrick, drill floor, shaker tanks, ect. We'd build it all.
cool video! my boyfriend works out on a rig in BC. He's shown me pictures of Derrick's being raised but I've never seen a video! He's in love with his job and I think it's pretty cool too =)
Excellent video, having raised many a derrick it still gets the hairs on the back of the neck, if the oilfield is in you, its in you.......................
if you are looking for a job on a rig just walk into pretty much any drilling company's office and ask them if they are hiring the usually take anyone
been in the patch for 7 years, ive doe snubbing, coiled tubing, frac, im doing cement now, never been on a drilling rig, i would like the experience though
lol, truckers are fine long as your not standing behind them. And lets face it, anyone who stays a swamper is just a guy who couldn't cut it as a roughneck
Hey this is Jerry and I am also jpwipf here on YouTube.. I just posted a response to this video where I took the original and sped it up. It is a lot better than this 7 minute one.. Enjoy..Peace..
A very long, boring video...should have edited some texts for information on raising a derrick. It must have been fun if the high-tensioned cables break and the derrick collapsed in the end. He he. Those two lines in the sky are reflections of 2 fluorescent lamps. This was shoot on a glass window. Very boring like a surveillance camera.

@TexasHolePoker
Looks like it's a jacknife pulled up with the draw works and bridle lines.
You can see the blocks hanging down at the start.
Hydraulic derricks usually lay down over the draw works side.

Rig move is cool, but you should have speed it up and taped the truckers and swampers tearing stuff up like they always do. Put it all together
