LMHO! That is an absolutely wicked bit of editing! I would have preferred a name more like Viper's Defender mode, in keeping with KITT's do no harm programing, myself.
I never care for NBC but I only watched it just for Knight Rider (the original and the 2008 one). The only show I watch on there now is Chuck. You know even the original Star Trek was on NBC but it was cancelled after 3 seasons (1966 - 1969).

On the idea of ATTACK Modes(K3000):
I call the pilot SPM because it looks more like the actual mustang(like SPM+KITT).
