The incomparable Robert Palmer, man of many talents. I miss what could have been, all the songs left unsung, all the opportunities to be dazzled once again. I feel fortunate to enjoy the legacy he has left behind but still miss him. Rest in peace, dear sweet Robert.
The jazziness of Stanley Jordan and the soulfulness of Robert Palmer's rendition work beautifully. The slight raw edge, for me , just adds to the charm
a 5 star clip no doubt but (dont sledge me for this) palmer looks a little unsure with this...maybe due to lack of time to rehearse - 2 great talents.
Mkay, extremely good guitar playing, but this was a little....abstract or jazzy for me. Not denying it was very good tho I'm sure. I love Robert Palmer
Wow, its on my favorites list for sure. Thank you so much for sharing this, I'm always thrilled when new Robert stuff shows up on Youtube. Thank you again, its beautiful.
Both performers are at their best in this duet; Palmer's voice is beautifully accented by Jordan's inimitable guitar playing.(Billie Holliday & Lester Young were amazing together, too.)Still, everyone has seen at least one collaboration in which the musicians would rather compete w/each other than play!Old Nat King Cole would be proud. In short: This sublime song is played by a duet which does full justice to the original w/out a useless note for note imitation,or losing personal style.
"There was a man,a very sweet, enchanted man. They say he wandered very far, very far over land and sea. Very nice and happy of eye, and very wise was he. And then one day, a magic day he passed our way, and as he sang of many
things, fools and kings, this is what he sang to we. The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return." Robert, baby, R.I.P. Thank you, eclectic1970!
