Sanda is not a fighting style. It is the practical application of any style of Kungfu. For example, there is shaolin sanda, baji sanda, bagua sanda, etc. In china, most kungfu practitioners train targets and sparring along with their traditional kungfu style. This becomes their sanda. It is only outside of China that people have separated Sanda as a fighting style on it's own. without the traditional form there isnt much depth or meaning to the movements
@donismail my friend, don't give morons the time of day if they don't deserve it. some people will say anything to persuade themselves they're 'ard. having apparently studied for 12 years this muppet obviously still has learnt the most important martial art lessons... btw before you give me one of your childish responses androsfinx, you should already realize i won't dignify it with a return.
interesting how sanda is clearly much more paractical than all the other kung fu. out of all these ludacris styles, you somehow get one that would be perfectly useful in real self-defense.
@kyler1115 No. 咏春 not 永春. 咏 means "song" or "poem". 永 means "eternal". 春 means "spring", as you pointed out correctly. So, as you can see, 咏春 is a typical Chinese girl's name meaning "poetic spring".
@Sacrefies Wing Chun is the English translation for it. Most closely linked to the Cantonese way of pronouncing it "literally also Wing Chun, just that the "Wing" intonation is voiced lower. Yong Chun is the Chinese equivalent for Wing Chun, still the same thing
lol, i love seeing people debate over ma. go to the country of origin and learn it from the most senior master that is still alive. then we can all have opinions.
in the meantime, debating which martial art is the best is pointless. the martial art is only as good as the artist and any martial art can beat another.
most are shorts because they dont get the calcium from the milks for the bone like most american or european get everyday. fresh milks is very expensive somehow and theres only power milk which isnt as great, and most of them are poor so can not afford milk to get the calcium.
Those large pillows are so you can actually punch your opponent in the face, and so actually apply the techniques you learn in the gym. Something that dosen't frequently happen in Martial Arts.
I noticed that in Asia, there is a lot of real, full-contact sparring. In the USA, that seems to not be the case. So in the USA, the Golden Gloves, and the collegiate wrestlers (and now MMA) have the best training. You need to practice hitting and getting hit.
i know im going to probably get a lot of thumbs downs for this but I maintain that traditionsal boxing is right up there with one of the most effective fighting styles.
@mikespikeforlife - look up the martial arts documentary where the guy talks about the shaolin monks training in western boxing because it is more realistic in a combat sense. Boxing is the first and foremost way to end any fight, ie. punch em in the face hard.
rated POOR because of the continuous repetitive flashes the makers of the film deemed my eyes to endure while watching the 1st 30sec of this piece of fucking shit
@69MrGemini yup by Yim Wing chun ,During one of her daily walks into the surrounding wilderness, she observed a fight between a snake and a crane. She was totally captivated by the simplicity, effectiveness, and directness of the techniques of both the snake and the crane. A Kung Fu master herself, she proceeded to research and develop a new fighting system based on the movements of the snake and crane. The resulting system formed the foundation for modern day Wing Chun.
Nope. Nobody knows who it was invented by, because it was developed at the time of the Ming and Shaolin resistance in the Qing Dynasty. A load of legends were spread around to confuse people about this new style. People think that the one about Yim Wing Chun is the most popular because it's romantic.

in Human Weapon, we are only seeing the sport style of San Da, not the actual style...the real Sanda is like the video said, the deadliest and brutal in kung fu... it goes to the point where they dislocate joints and even breaking things in ur body...
@Gin520 of course they would not break each other's bones in training. it could happen that you need your sparring partner again. it's also correct that there is a difference between martial sports and martial arts. e.g. wing chun was never a sport. you learn efficient techniques for defending yourself (and body control also) without the regulation of sports.

The "story" is that it was created by a women. But as far as women living and training with, and being, a monk is just that...a story.
Just because the story has been repeated over and over doesnt mean it stands up to historical analysis.
Believe me, the heads of of most Wing Chun schools/families say it's what's been passed down, few believe it to be true.
@mikespike I only disagree in that boxing doesnt teach much about fighting reality with those large pillows on your hand when boxing.
