@arandomperson3 Not like an AK at all, striker fired. AKs are hammer fired. Most AKs are stamped receivers, ALL Vz 58s are milled. The Vz is 1.5 - 2 pounds lighter than an AK depending on the stock and foregrip. The magazines are aluminum, about half the weight of an AK mag. And none of the parts are interchangeable between the two rifles.

Acutally, this rifle is ONLY in 7.62X39mm same as AK47 and SKS. it's NOT the 7.62x51mm which is the NATO version of the .308win.

The military version is the same 7.62x39 chambered rifle as the civilian version. The military one is called the Sa VZ 58 while the civilian is the CZ 858. The ONLY difference is that the military one has full auto capability. Trust me, I own a CZ858 I know what I'm talking about.

@harrysunb You can fit any kind of optic u want on that front rail. the video is grainy and it's hard to tell but i'd bet that those are kollimator type red dot sights. As with any red dot, there is always a problem with parallax. it's an inherent defect with any sort of holographic sight. you physically cant make a red dot that is 100% paralax free. but quality made ones (aimpoint, eotech, etc) can get pretty close.

I agree on vz58 being better than m16. AK is better for the average person to own due to ease of maintenence, but is inherently only accurate up to 300 m. M16 can reach out to 500m with an acog scope. M16 is for a professional soldier. Vz58 has accuracy just under the M16 with reliability just under the AK.

yea ive been airborne infantry for over 4 years. ready up drills are fine and all, but thats just a waste of ammo plain and simple. ive been to combat and never in my life has the need ever arose to just shoot 8 mags straight.

When things go right and your profiles stand up you shouldn't have to but when things go wrong you might have to.Operation Just Cause and Operation Restore Hope offered just a couple of examples where our boys had to run their weapons hard and non-stop when things went really wrong.CCTs and SEALs won't even field a weapon now without dumping a whole load though it first. Lesson Learned and Cheap Insurance IMHO

8 mags straight firing is not a training drill. Its a standard CZ and Slovak (if not NATO) testing procedure for new weapon, ammo or weapon equipment, the rifle has to fire at least two sets of 8 mags changes with short brake between the set. In this case its the test of new shortened version of Sa VZ58 named "Defender".

Of corse its nonsence in real battle, you dont even carry that much ammo with you.

naturally, torture testing weapons is neccessary. typically in the us army we do that in a controlled environment. i was unaware that this was some sort of official testing, and if it really is then i withdraw my previous statement. on the other hand if its just 2 guys trying to look high speed by goin "rambo" then its still pointless.

Damgerous you can see that there are few more adons to be tested in life "field" test. The defender has a new butstock, new upper and lower handguard and new red dot gunsight. You have to test all of these componenets following prescribed procedure (I think its NATO standard procedure). I sae the procedure on paper so I know its been done this way. The whole video is just weapon test not tactical training.

Prove function and check for wear.this establishes a reliable MRBS(mean rounds between stoppages) that the operator can depend on in a fight.If his weapon when properly maintained can expend the full loadout of magazines that he carries every time it increases his confidence level if it fails then whatever failed needed to be replaced anyway.Practice makes perfect!
