  • Holy cow, I remember having that video as a kid and watching it over and over wishing my parents would buy the machine.

  • Fun fact: the narrator in this video was the one for G4's show 'Icons'.

  • Comment removed

  • "Did you see the way he went through that door?!?!?!"

  • why is it called 64?

  • @DrakrSlyr The games on the system are 64 bit. As opposed to an earlier system, say, the NES (which have 8 bit graphics) 64 bit graphics were a big leap considering the last Nintendo Console was 16 bit.

  • god i remember getting this video. I have it floating around somewhere... lol

  • I'll never forget how exciting 1996 was. Being nine years old...it was just the perfect timing of everything for me. Not only do you not get VHS in the mail anymore, these were the days when you'd actually make an hour long trip to Toys R Us just to watch promo videos on those kiosks they used to have (or maybe still have, I haven't been to Toys R Us in a decade or so....)

  • any knows soundtrack from 1:15 ??

  • VHS is an unfortunately forgotten canvas for the cheesy and weird, but that era is over, now we have the internet and DVDs. Sure, they're convenient, but at what cost?

  • Did One Of The Gamers Just Sa, "Did You See How Mario Went Through That Door" XD

  • my friend owns this vhs, we watched it a few times over the last couple years, this makes me wanna go watch it again XD

  • It's funny looking back on what people thought bits were and what they actually are. Hell, the original Xbox was technically a 32-bit system.

  • @thatsistheguy uh source? that is completely untrue

  • @nothingandeverytable h tt p:/ /en.wik iped ia.o rg/wiki /Xb ox#Techn ical_spec ificat ions (remove the spaces) -Says right there it uses a 32-bit processor.

Again, there's a common misconception that more bits = better graphics. For the most part, bits only refer to the number of integers that can be stored and computed. A little too complicated for a YouTube comment so Google it if you're curious.

  • It's too bad Nintendo has no need to do video promos like this anymore because of the internet, I loved getting these in the mail.

  • I nostalgiad so fucking hard after watching this.

  • "You see the way he walks through that door?" "No kidding" WTF?

  • "Give him a toss, man. He ain't nothin'."

  • We invited three of the best gamers in the country... well actually just some 12 year old boys with some free time.

  • lol i had this video..

  • @3:22 -> "360!!!"

I simply KNOW that Microsoft heard that. T-T

  • Gaming has come so far.

  • @zxadvent19 lol have you heard of atari

  • @zxadvent19 backward

  • I had this video too, Nintendo must have had good marketing because i bought a N 64 the day it came out, and later after i got the star fox VHS i bought it too..LOL

  • Is the cab driver J mascis?

  • YA! I found this video! I have it on VHS in my shelf but I dont has a VCR anymore LOL.

  • I remember getting this in the mail

  • It's so NINETIES!

  • I broke my mothers vcr watching these nintendo tapes.

  • oh my god mario can walk through a door!!!!!!!

  • 5:17 I always give her the penguin then she gives me the star then i throw the penguin off the edge and she gets pissed long story short pilotwings 64 was the greatest game ever.

  • OMG Ken Lobb is a legend. The Klobb in GoldenEye was named after him. Too bad it was the shittiest gun in Goldeneye and was a running gag with my friends and I back in the day. "Oh shit I just killed you with a Klobb!". "Damn I picked up a Klobb". Haha good times.

  • lol but i didnt have a nintendo 64 so can you tell me WAS they graphics better than than wii? ( I KNOW PEOPLE DONT SELL ANY 64'S ANYMORE )

  • I have 4 Nintendo 64's, one of which was given to me by a teacher. i am aiming to collect all the colours and desings.

  • i still dont know how to holed the controller

  • @123GhostMonkey Lol ikr. You're supposed to hold the middle with your left hand, and the right part with your right hand (depending on game)

  • LOL...Z BUTTON!

  • Goddamn game companies need to do videos like this...yes, exactly like this, with cheese and all. These (the DKC tape too) were fun tapes and nowadays they'd have to make em all slick and cool. This was back when people knew how to have some fuckin fun.

  • WOW, brings back memories! Had this VHS as a kid.

  • Nintendo 64 > Playstation any day of the week.

    NINTENDO SIXTY FOURRRRR!!!!!

  • So corny...

  • I never held the controller like that. I put my left hand on the left, and my right hand on the right. I could reach the analog stick in the middle just fine. Maybe I just have long thumbs.

  • @ledawg1138 datz how i hold mines

  • super mario 64 and donkey kong 64 were great

games for me back, even killer instincy gold :)

  • Best Part:

    4 Controller Ports!

    4 Players Play!

    Z Button!

  • I remember getting this video in the mail, back in the day. I was really excited about trying out N64 games, because it was a whole, new thing. I especially wanted to check out Super Mario 64 (being a Mario fan).

  • The N64 has been the console of my childhood!!! And yet, it still is!!!

  • Oh yeah uh we had stunt guys in creepy hats slamming into walls to simulate Mario doing it.

  • "Brian O'Rourke" was played by my friend Matt Wise. No shit.

  • Poor bastard.

  • well their marketing must have worked..i remember watching this about 20 times before the system came out, and begged my dad to get me one the day it came out and it was impossible to find one..we finally found one like an hour away and we drove there to get it. Awesome memory.

  • damn still remember having this vhs tape must be in the attic

  • when mario toss bowser the first time it sounds like mario said so long gay bowser

  • D: ITS KEN LOBB HOLY CRAP.

  • Thanks to the power of the internet Nintendo no longer has to spend money to send out DVDs or VHS they can just give you a link to watch a video on the internet.

  • I remember when my brother worked at a video game shop, and the owners imported one of these from japan before it was released in Australia. Now internet wasn't common at all at that time and nobody had ever heard of the N64, and when I showed all my mates this brand new console before they even heard of it they were amazed and couldn't believe what they were seeing. Good memories

  • The N64 was Nintendo at it's best, but the controller is terrible

  • Great console, crappy controller.

  • It was weird but not crappy. Most games had you playing the game with the left hand wrapped around the middle section and the right hand on the right section.

  • I love the N64, but the controller was utterly abominable.

  • I loved watching my Brother play those games when we were kids.

  • OMG i remember getting this own the memories

  • ZOMG!!!

    It has a Z button!!!

  • Name a major console that had a trigger button prior to the N64....exactly.

  • MAN!! n64 is amazing, a good excuse to Drink more!!!! Great system!! Always

  • lol, "360"!

    ahead of its time :)

  • dude man, too high to talk....awesome game tho

  • This is the video that made me beg my mom to buy me the N64 and well after a month of begging and pleading and me bargaining to get better grades, she finally bought it.

  • a re-edited version of this was released for the Australian market of this

  • Holy crap a Z button! Can you believe it! I've heard of a and b buttons, but never a Z button!

  • Now, sure. But the N64 was the first.

  • My friend actually recieved this video in the mail, and we all went over his house to sit down and watch it together in a big viewing. It was awesome.

  • yea, it was a free rental at Blockbuster Video. We were very excited back then. Looking at it now, it is SOO cheesy, but that was how promos for games were made back then.

  • There's no mystique anymore, all you have to do to get a preview of a game or a system is look online and there's about a hundred different sites with "inside info." It was a simpler time. A more exciting time ... ah.

  • OMG THE Z BUTTON?!?!?!!!?!?

  • lol there's 3 sweet hair flips in a row from 2:42 to 2:56! the 90's were amazing.

  • lol "gameface"

  • 0:41

    Beta Mario?

  • "SO LONG GAY BOWSER!" I think it says that lol 2:45

  • OOPS I mean 5:45

  • XD LOL

  • lol z button.

  • classic video, I still got video cassette from nintendo. i got a month before nintendo 64 was out. good times

  • N64 is part of my childhood.

  • yeah fuck sony during the 1990s

  • i dont like the looks of that gameface guy

  • so early 90's cheesy.

  • Late '90s, actually. If you want to see early '90s cheesy, watch "Invasion of Nintendo."

  • I liked it when those badasses got out of the car--I was like 'oh shit! it's on now!'

  • They're introduced like three special agents about to be assigned some kind of dangerous mission with the fate of the world at stake...and then all they do is gush about three video games.

  • Wow johnnyblaze, trying to start another arguement? it came out 12 days after my 6th birthday and it was our 2nd console outside of the SNES we had before.

  • 10 pages of arguements? *points* Lol internet!

  • ohnnyblaze9333 is jealous as i see ;-)

  • W00t! the n64 was released in america the same year i was born! (1996)

  • pfft, you dont know shit about it then. i was in middle school when it came out.

  • Clusterfuck with AIDs = rattis1

  • lol gj u made me laugh.

  • Has anyone else noticed that we never see the gamers' lips moving when they speak? You can see the strings on this puppet show.

  • Y was 360 a cool word in the 90s?. I remember hearing it alot when i was a kid.

  • yea this was huge back then, I remember being blown away because i was so used to sega genesis and SNES, yea the playstation was around but I thought all those games looked liked doom with the unfiltered textures. althought I think the graphics of playstation came to surpass the N64 around 98-99 throught craftier programers and various tricks

  • I still got my 64, and i still play it every day :-D

  • They're amazed at Mario opening a door.

  • all i msayin is theoriginaldrbob needs anger- management

  • all im saying is that you should get some friends

  • wow the same insult? u must think ur hot shit dont u? ahahahahah

  • Whats the same insult?

  • haha, at 2:45- Ken Lobbs rubbing his hair like that- it looks like a Pert Plus or Rogaine commercial.

  • 00:15 - IT'S OVER 9000!!!

  • "Did you see the way he went through that door!?"

  • At 2:13 look at the mario game

  • Wow look at how he opens doors!

  • I first got my N64 in 2005... because I had I PS1 at that time... A BIG mistake, the N64 is incredible and so cool... I miss the 90's...

  • I remember watching the hell out of this thing in first grade. I thought it was so awesome to just spend hours tiptoeing around as Mario because it was JUST LIKE THE MOVIE.

  • 8...16...32...64...START!

  • I didnt get a nintendo 64 till my 12th bday and that was in '98, but I played super mario 64 and I loved it immediately because at the time, I was like "WOOOWW I REMEMBER MARIO!!." I had the Genesis before the N64 and had friends who had the SNES

  • 360!! lol

  • 64-bit door opening ability!

  • Yeah, goin through that door doesnt seems like all that big of a deal now, but back then, when true 3D was really just taking off in the console world, goin through a door that fluid and fast hadnt really happened in 3D games without "LOADING".

  • Did you see the way he went through that door?

  • Nintendo was decades ahead of the competition when it came to door-opening technology.

  • Alright, my local station logo is in the video......:P

  • That cool techno music used in the Mario 64 section? I wish that was in the actual game. I was disappointed when it was not. Anybody know what the track is called, or where to get it? Please send me a message if so.

  • Very Cool

  • The n64 had about 15 games tops that were worth playing, but they all happened to be 10s. The most PSX games were 7- 10 in terms of replay value. PSX had texture to their graphics, the n64 did not. The PSX had voice audio in many of their games while many n64 games did not. the PSX had a CD player, which was still significant back then.

oh right, the n64 had FOUR control sockets , whop de doo!!!

Sony owned Nintendo, chew on that Mario

  • ps1 games were extremely gay. Except for the series games (like crash and spyro) most of them completely sucked. As far as consoles go maybe the ps1 did beat n64 but the games? come on n64 was the best.

  • The N64 and Playstation both ruled.

  • The PSX was a lot better though in terms of game volume and graphics

  • not by far.

  • Makes me want to play my N64... 5/5

  • Quote from 1 of kids "woah! did you see the way he walked through that door!" 4:03 lol nice vid

  • yaeh bad acting.

  • Gameface seems like a douche bag in this vid with his smug ass.

  • I can't believe that I still have the VHS of this.

  • and what did the ps1 do.......

  • just like your mom....except she swollows too.

  • I dont see how it was 'crap' per se when a lot more glut was released on the PS1 than its counter parts. Sure the console had its setbacks but also had some large advantages over the saturn and playstation. I mean, I dont necessarily agree with the elitist crowd of nintendo fanboys who think ocarina of time is the best game ever, but the best games on the N64 simply outweigh those on the saturn and PS1. Quality over quantity is what im trying to say...

  • i respectfully disagree, the few n64 games that were good, may have been REALLY good, but the psx had a LOT of REALLY good games. the n64 just wasn't Nintendo's strong point. Super Mario Sunshine for example, was WAY better than Mario 64 in terms of replay value

  • oh god we have another englishaftermint on our hands!

  • omg!!! i still have my n64 and play it more than any other system i own!!! i love super mario 64!!!!

  • I remember getting this video in the mail one day. Brings back memories. Kudos to you for the upload!

  • lol, I remember watching this all the time. I still have this on VHS!

  • Apparently, "best" means "most easily impressed" in this context. "Did you see how he went through that DOOR?!"

  • Apparently, "best" means "most easily impressed" in this context. "Did you see how he went through that DOOR?!"

No fuckin' kidding. Slimiest shadiest tactics...

  • its funnny how these people dont realize that this was 11 years ago. NO DUH HE WAS SAYING THE CONTROL STICK IS COOL ITS ONE OF (IF NOT) THE FIRST SYSTEM TO HAVE ONE! and will you two idiots stop arguing?

  • FUCK YOU if it was eleven years ago why are you getting involved? and why dont you have the balls to reply?

  • Please refrain from using hate speech against other users. This is the only warning you will receive.

  • Well why dont you tell that to them english efternamn?

  • go make another fcking picture slide show faggot!

  • Please refrain from using hate speech against other users. You have been warned.

  • Well why dont you tell that to them english efternamn?

  • Please stop, the next time you resort to hate speech, your account WILL be suspended.

  • what hate speech?

  • 6:18 -- The slimebucket says "I could go on talking about Mario for the next twenty hours..." then he shows them off less then 20 SECONDS later. Lying slimebuckets.

  • watch what you say about the klobb..

  • What? You mean you don't know? You're a fan of Nintendo 64 and you don't know the stuff that's gone around about him?

  • nope i have no idea.

  • i dont know tell me.....

  • 2:19: "The Z Button" Fucking nonsense! These slimebuckets are the only company that ever described a damn button as a feature for A WHOLE SYSTEM! Why would they have to do that if the n64 is so great?

  • Good god man. Ok, there are a few idiots replying to your comments but you're going a little over the top yourself. It's a cheesy promo video and you're acting like Nintendo's evil.

  • 4:30 -- "The control stick is cool. It actually allows full, 360 degree control!" -- Ya think? Dumbshit.

  • whats the name of the song from 3:34 to 4:05? i post this same comment in the wrong part.

  • Same response as I gave you last time. Same situation, misleading garbage. Typical Nintendo activity.

  • Same reason we are arguing: you are a hippocrite.

  • 6:00-6:05, "I'm not gonna go all the way through this level, but I just want to show you some of the cool things you can do" -- When the level is almost over, and he completes it anyway by defeating Bowser, what a crock of misleading bullshit. Shows what slimy con-artists these people were.

  • will you shut the fuck up! stop commenting on these videos if you dont like the n64 your so annoying!

  • Hmmm... let me think. Ummm...

    NO

  • It took you that long to think?

  • Oooohhh. Is that the best you can do? BTW, what's a "hippocrite" (it's hypocrite, genius)? I'm skeptical as to whether someone could be as dumb as what your projecting. Go fuck a tree, nerd.

  • is your mom a tree. fucking spermed her like...well something related to that topic. btw go get raped by that swedish guy and buy swedish fish

  • I say hippocrite because i assume your fat. You do seem like the type that likes to annoy people with your whining. Plus "Go fuck a tree, nerd" is a shitty come back that makes no sense. Go get a life prison bitch.

  • No, you said it because you don't know how to talk, your past comments demonstrates this. Get lost, nerd.

  • Go suck off your dad, nerd. Go lick the Andes mountain, nerd. Go stop commenting on these videos if you dont like Nintendo, nerd.
