  • M.L husain was born in the war and john F. Kennedy born in the war too :D

  • who is at 0:52 ?

  • Choules has died. There are none left. This is not just the death of a man, but it is symbolic of the end of entire generation of people. The whole population of Earth born when Choules was. Much of the world we live in was built and pioneered by these men and women. They will be missed.

  • @Polyfusia There are only none left if you are refering to combative veterans. Florence Green, who is 110 years old, served as a waitress for the RAF and is officially recognised as the last surviving veteran of the First World War (since Claude Choules passed away). Furthermore, there are several claimant veterans still alive, as CrazyCoyote100 has mentioned. Also, there are individuals alive who were born in the 19th century, they are also symbolic to Choules' generation.

  • John Babcock was from Canada, not the USA.

  • Happy Birthday Claude Choules!

  • His death was tough to take in. There are still veterans out there who could've fought in the Great War.

*Kashi Ram Rai (USA, born Nepal)

    *Mzee Barnabus arap Rop (Kenya)

    *Andrew Rasch (USA)

  • @CrazyCoyote100 I'm intrigued, but I can't find much on these individuals. Could you possibly inbox me any decent links you may have please? It would be much appreciated. Thank you.

  • Frank Buckles died Sunday :(

    now theirs only 2 left.

soon to be the soul survivor. :(

  • great peice i salute the last of these heroes, american english polish and german

  • Bad news People Claude Choules health is declining even faster, he's almost completly blind and deaf! and even possible.......Death =( lets pray he'll stay alive!

  • Was die alles auf uns losgelassen haben!

  • Shame that they found an unverified Veteran and he died just after a few months after he was discovered =(

R.I.P Futcher Harry And Terrey Douglas

  • BTW Harry Futcher and Douglas Terrey have passed away- not sure about the others although supposedly there are no current Unverified World War I Veterans- Just the 3 Verified and Era-Vet Józef Kowalski .

  • Thanks guys for rating, and commenting! I added the last living WWI-era vets in the description box. Take a peek! Remember, WWI-era vets never served in WWI, just in a different war during the same time period as WWI.

  • @CrazyCoyote100 They found another unverified Veteran

his name is Futcher Harry he fought for the British

  • There could be More Veterans out there in the World! after all we did discover florence green! who knows maybe theres 5 or 10 veterans or more!

  • sorry the chance is almost zero. Green wasnt really a veteran she was a waitress

  • crazycoyote100, I am pretty sure Frank Buckles did not turn 109 on 1 February 1901, he turned 109 on 1 February 2010. Also, Claude Choules just turned 109 on 3 March 2010.

  • The ending of the two World Wars are 27 years apart. Im assuming that in 2037, we will get in this perdicement again. Nobody needs to worry about that.

  • Mr. Babcock just passed away today. RIP

  • @CrazyCoyote100

With his death, the Canadians have, more or less, lost a National Treasure.

As for the other three... At most, we will only have Mr. Buckles for 2 more years, 3 at most

Same goes for Mr. Choules. As for Florence Green, well some women have been known to live to 112, even 115, so at most, but highly unlikely, she will be around for only 6 more years at most. I'm not being Pessimistic, it's just that our bodies can only live for so long...

  • It's tough seeing the last ones pass on.

  • I agree, someday we'll be watching this happen with the world war two vets too.

  • Thanks for making this Video. Your facts are correct. However, I believe that Claude Choules is the LAST ONLY LIVING PERSON in the world today that was actually a combatant.

  • they are all gone

  • No, Claude Choules, Frank Buckles and John Babcock are still alive

  • You can call a veteran a hero, but he/she may disagree. The true heroes are the ones who never came home.

"Until one has given it all, one has given nothing." -Georges Guynemer, French WWI fighter Ace KIA

  • Claude Choules is very significant. As of today, 10/8/09, he is the last living witness to "The scuttling of the fleet at Scapa Flow," whatever that was.

  • the scuttling of the fleet was when the German navy was being held at Scapa flow while the allies decided how to divide up the ships. the Germans through a wrench in thier plans by sinking every ship they could on the British guards

  • holy shit ! i wanna cry

  • Harry Patch sadly died this morning also

  • 3 of the last 4 months, there has been a veteran that died, April- Netherwood Hughes, June- John Campbell Ross, and July- Henry Allgngham

  • Henry was one of very few males that made it to 110+ years. Before his death, 78 total verified supercentenarians. 72were women and 6 were male. Amazing!!

  • Henry has sadly passed on today.

    RIP Henry.

  • With the death of Henry Allingham, we have lost:

    - The last living survivor of the Battle of Jutland

    - The last living founder of the Royal Air Force

    - The last living survivor of the Royal Naval Air Service

  • Henry Allingham is now the oldest man in the World
