Saddam was a murderer and devil. But it aint hard to see, this movie is nothing but a poor attempt of white-washing history. Defending an illegal war, legitimated by lies of WMDs.
Yet, once it was THE WEST to built his laboratories, to use chemical warfare vs Iran.
I wonder if the movie shows saddam talkin to the US diplomats, prior to invading kuweit, and his friend Bush sen. setting green lights? Probably not.
another production trying to cover the reality, saddam was a dectator, but even before looking the production I see that it's demonizing him! and there are lots of fools who fall for it!
@mustang19ms Actually it's waaaaaaay too humanising Saddam. The only monster is Uday the psychopath son. They don't even show any war crimes, except of one village massacre during Iran-Iraq (following a failed assassination attempt on Saddam), genocide of Kurds is just a dialogue during a dinner, slaughter of the Shia rebels is not even that (just skipped). And in the final episode Saddam is just tragic, much more than Hitler as shown in The Downfall.
@punipunipunisher I am not sure if you're Iraqi or not, but if you are, you would know that Iraq can never have a normal leader and flourish, it's impossible, the only way in Iraq is to scare people even about thinking to change the system, this is the only way Iraq can be ruled.. Saddam was brutal, even against his own family, he was brutal, but he was just! In his time you can do whatever you like, just stay out of politics and drugs!
@punipunipunisher I'm not bro, at all, but it's the truth.. if I am racist I would treat them differently, but I don't I have Iraqi friends, but even they admit it, it's their nature, they are hard to rule, that is all
@mustang19ms It's not "truth", because somehow the Iraqi-Americans (Arabs) don't need to be tossed into acid vats and the American Kurds don't need to have to be gassed.
@Sexisttroll he refused at first. he agreed later. But US invaded anyway. Bush listens to what he wants, ignoring most warnings against the consequences of his actions.
Well Saddam was able to keep the peace in Iraq much better than any messed-up democracy in Iraq.....Don't get me wrong, this doesn't mean I approve of bombing Kurds with chemical weapons but maybe the West ought to learn something from him.
@Noogai45 you have a Point, although saddam was Over brutal with the iraqies but Iraq needs a brute dictator to hold the people, now that saddam is gone they are all running wild like animals blowing the shit out of each other,
@punipunipunisher *facepalm* No and definitely not any other silly hare-brained genocide. I just wish to point out that dictatorships have a supposed higher safety-record as compared to liberal Western democracies. The USSR and Nazi Germany had very few incidences, if not none, of terrorism etc. But then again, the dictators had to go fudge it up with their irrational policies.
@Noogai45 Lol? The "bandits" and "terrorists" (undergrounds of all kinds, almost everywhere) were killing Nazi soldiers/policemen (and often civilians too) on a DAILY basis. The Soviets too had quite a lot of problems with various ethnic nationalists (Ukrainian, Polish, Baltic, Caucasian, Central Asian), also add the whole Russian civil war that killed MANY millions of people before the Bolsheviks ultimately prevailed.
@Noogai45 So what your basically saying that you would want a power hungry self-loving dictator governing you, easy for you to open your big fucking mouth and give an opinion when you never been in one. Food for thought. He killed anyone that did not support him, killed any friends for an inch of suspicion, and promoted race genocide. You want us to learn to kill our people and install fear..... kind of defeats the purpose.
@coldwater1234567 Bring peace? He killed thousands, some of my family included, he lived like a rich pig while the rest of Iraq struggled in poverty, his sons raped and beat women, Jews, Assyrians, Kurds and other of Iraq's many ethnic minorities as well as Communists and homosexuals were ruthlessly murdered by that man. He killed men, women and children. He is not a hero.
@MrsJellyCat :::when he was in iraq there were peace there was not exist of killing in the street there were no fighting based on religions iraq felt peace and people who killed by him were planning to kill him iam sorry for children who were killed but i am disparately sorry for who killed by American army so look at his advantages and compare them with his disadvantages
who is better to kill 100 and save 10000000 or to kill 0 and save 0!!!!!1
@coldwater1234567 There MAY have been stability, but by that logic, Hitler brought stability to Germany after the Weihmar republic, but in turn, killed millions. Of course, I don't defend the American Army one bit. And Saddam didn't just kill 100, he killed thousands. I think the only concern now is to restore PROPER peace to Iraq, without a dictator, without military interference, where Iraq is rebuilt and safe for everyone.
@MrsJellyCat hhh seriously with no offense you made me laugh look honey this conversation became serious and now i will tell you something you never heared of .... in Iraq there were people waiting to kill each other and burn mosques and churches because they are believers of extremist parties in the meanwhile saddam was fighting and killing them without mercy by hundreds . these people called him dictator but now you are sitting in ur computer and think u know the whole truth .....
@MrsJellyCat and this the rest of the comment and by the way America killed thousands 100000000 of iraqi people for Justice but i was wondering why america didnt fight north Korie (koria) oooooooooooh i forgot that Korea doesnt have oil .......... saddam standed in the court like a man not like Hitler who killed him self that indicate something that he is not regular man he was a good man and the people who made the execution were in extremist parties in holy day for muslims ???????????
@coldwater1234567 actually, love, my family fled Saddam because AMERICA encouraged him to attack Left-Wingers, such as Communists, Socialists and Liberals when they were best friends in the 70s. And I'm sorry, but he hid in a hole for several months. That doesn't sound couragous to me. And I said, I DISLIKE what America is doing. And I'm sorry, but how are women and children extremists? And Saddam even killed Muslims (Christians and Jews). He was non-secular. There is NO excuse for murder. NONE
@MrsJellyCat Actually Saddam hid in a shack, the camoflaged hole next to it was a last resort in case of danger, it's not like he spent all the time there.
I wish i could spit on his ugly face for what he did to my parents. Fucking sharmota!

@Noogai45 you really need to lern about dictatorships, specially germany. "gew incidents" LOL.
a few incidents are needed to execute you. Like my unconfirmed badmouthing eg. Counted thousands each month.
Know euthanasia? Disabled kids, ripped off their parents, sent into gas.
Old people, killed to save health care costs. People WITH family.
And thats just our "own people", not counted jews, nor the victims of war.
Like brutality in leaders? Taste some yourself. Then come again.
