Heh... I started on a similar project a few months ago with an old Acer.
The differences were at the back panel, for witch I used an aluminum plate as a heatsink and backbone :D and to completely eliminate fans...
But I checked the USB ports too late in the project. So, with all ports found dead, and no way to plug a mice or even a touchscreen... (I had more of a tablet in mind)...
Perhaps I'll give it another try with a pcmca2usb card :D
You can use an old laptop monitor into an extra TV or monitor? I wish to learn such technique, so I can learn how to make my old laptop monitor into a peripheral monitor, so I can have better productivity with it; multiple monitors are better than one.
