  • Hi. What is BSL and APL??

  • I love this song!!! Mayer Hawthorne is so unique! :)

  • Comment removed

  • We were in the same boat. My stylist cut off my growth so it was like my hair never grew. My hair stayed at my shoulders. I stopped cutting and it's grown so much.

  • Same thing happens to me. Been having the same medium length for years. But also I don't take care of my hair and I'm too lazy To brush it everyday lol

  • yaaassss i was kinda jammin watchin yo vid lol! whats the name of this song??

  • @bri80056 Mayer Hawthorne- I wish it would rain....LOL

  • Why do u hang qtips on the wall? :39

  • @lenalici0us89 LOL...not me! My dad lol..he just hangs them up there so when the bowl of q-tips are finished, it's easy to just go to the wall, take them out of the container and fill the bowl.

  • I am sooo with you on this! I know alot of people who trim based on a schedule. (every relaxer or every 6 mos) I trim when my hair says I need it. And so far I haven't trimmed in over a year. My stylist is very much into healthy hair and she checks for split ends at every relaxer! I'm about 1" from full APL with no plans to trim anytime soon.

  • @cuzimblessed Not trimming? What do you mean? In this video i was trimming my ends with every relaxer..every 3 months. Thin ends were not the problem because i didnt have that. She was just obsessed with blunt ends which is why she always trimmed my hair..She would cut a inch off every 3 months..Thats why i stayed the same length for a year straight.

  • I've also decide to limit my trims to twice a year. I also relax twice a year, sometimes people do not like stretching due to a lack of moisture which leads to breakage. Moisturizing and sealing helps me to stretch so long... Every two months do you have an inch of new growth? If not wait longer.

  • @sexycandy876 I just relaxed 3 weeks ago after stretching for 2 months and I'm glad to say i was able to retain 1 inch of growth! Now i know for a fact that my hair grows .5 inches a month. But currently, im tired of my hair hiding under wigs right now, so im thinking of getting a sew-in when i reach 8 weeks post. Spring will be around the corner by then and i want to look fly again LOL. So i guess my next relaxer will be in May. That means my i will be stretching for 16 weeks again.

  • I had that happen to me and have not been back to a salon since. I know how you feel and I really don't understand why they feel they have to cut our hair (not trim) every 6 weeks whether we need it or not.

  • But your hair is healthy right? And she didn't cut off MORE than you had grown out, so although you're disappointed, you're also blessed. Really blessed, because I know one person (myself) whose stylist hid loads of breakage. By the time I realized it the only answer was a BC. I had lengths that were past my chin and others that were 2" long!! Imagine that if you can. I'm natural now and loving it. I'm following your sister's journey very closely as I'm about a year behind her. Much love.

  • I like your hair, even if it didn't grow, it looks pretty, that counts right?! I also dont show my face in my vids, its nice to see there are others out there who prefer the same! =)

  • @fuchsiadreams09 Thanks. My hair did grow. It's just that my stylist chopped off my length and made it appear as if it weren't growing. Yea, i like my privacy but at the same time i want to help people grow their hair lol..

  • I had a setback last year too do to stress, I had shedding, and edges started thinning, just now getting my hair back on track.

  • I understand how it feels, but your hair looks so much thicker. At least you know the products and techniques you are using works and so gaining length by trimming less is an easy quick fix. Trimming every six months sounds like a great plan, but again, your hair looks thick, shiny and healthy!

  • @FromShorttoLong Yea, thickness is the only good thing that came out of trimming with every relaxer. My hair is noticeably thicker and now all i need to do is retain the length. I hope my hair agrees with my plan of trimming every 6 months though...cuz it's like it has a mind of its own. First it loved stretching for 6 months, now it hates it. I cut it down to 3 months...and it hates that too. So i have no choice but to relax at 2 months now lol. Im due for a relaxer in 2 weeks btw.

  • I think sometimes its all with the person, I have trimmed my hair every other relaxer and my hair has grown so much. Its actually to long and I need to go have it cut.

  • @MagnificentMeka Well how often were you relaxing? Because i was relaxing every 3 months. My hair grows .5 inches a month, so i was getting about 1.5 inches of growth. This is the same amount that was being chopped off every time i relaxed at 12 weeks (3 months).

  • @ladydipset88 I relax my roots every 2 months, I cut my split ends every 3 to 4 months. I don't trim all of my split ends to were all the splits stop. I don't wait to long between relaxers because then my hair breaks off really bad.

  • hmmmm, I agree, i trim my hair twice in one month, my sister told me i cut my hair too often. dat i wouldn't see length and not even my hair dresser trim my hair at every relaxer most likely every other relaxer. Sometimes she doesn't even trim. depends it dust where she sees fit not all the time my entire head needs to be dust..right now i take over dat area...besides she cuts by the faze of the moon for thickness or growth, i have retain and grown some length. different people different stroke

  • thank you so much im going through the same thing and i will be following your tecnique

  • so how often do you trim and when do you trim

  • @alina333ful In this video, i trimmed every time it relaxed. So i trimmed every 3 months. My hair would grow an average of 1.5 inches, and that's exactly how much my stylist would trim off. So i never retained any length. As the hair gets longer, the ends get a little thinner naturally, but she didn't like that. So she trimmed it with my consent of course. But never again. My last trim was in my November 2010 relaxer, and my next one is in May 2011, 6 months later.

  • this is such a disrespectfu message towards me....it is not only trimming that could be the reason why you havnt been able to retain length, health how you eat and how active you are plays a big roll on how healthy your hair is i gtmy hair trimmed by my stylist very 2 months an my hair is growing nice and healthy w/o split ends and i eat well an excersize evry morning

  • @Fashionhairfitters Lol. im not disrespecting you. A lot of people were asking me how come my hair stayed the same length for a year, so i made this video for them. I eat well too. I dunno, when i wasn't trimming my hair so often, it was growing. Julie it's not your fault! lol..Why would i disrespect you and make a video about it and post it on Youtube knowing we both have a channel together about hair? That makes no sense. Stretching too long plays a role too. I disappointed myself for that.

  • What is BSL???

  • @socialbutterfly80 Bra Strap length.

  • I am watching BSL also along with you.

  • i'm sorry i couldnt help but giggle at the music u added lol awww but ur hair is pretty =) happy growing!

  • @kellytclarice Lol thanks! Thanks for subscribing! Watch me reach BSL in 2011!

  • please tell me what u use in your hair to let ie grow and get that much body

  • @nikii4900 I will be doing an updated regimen video when i have the chance. But as far as the body goes, Jamaican castor oil has really helped me out in that department. I think i will make a video showing how i use it too .Also, I guess tthere's a good side to trimming because i do no have thin ends left on my head! which probably adds to all the volume and thickness. Before my cousin started doing my hair, my hair was long but i had thin ends :/

  • Girl....at least you still have HEALTHY hair, length is easy to obtain if its healthy. Lesson learned so like you said let's get BSL in 2011! I'm going to be on the same trim schedule (thank God my stylist doesn't think trims are necessary more than that anyways so there's no argument there) and I am not stretching beyond 10 weeks either! YAY for long hair in 2011!

  • Do you still have the same regimen? Maybe it is time to change it. You should have passed APL a long time ago. I am thinking that you need a stronger protein to maintain the thickness of your ends.If your ends need to be trimmed every relaxer(two months), you are doing something wrong.

Beautiful hair by the way. I hope you make BSL in 2011.

  • @lolitina1987 Hey. There's nothing wrong with my regimen. In fact, I think this regimen may be the thing my hair needs! My stylist prefers neat cut ends which is why she always trims. And she said stretching for 3 months was causing me to shed too much and that when I shed like that, they interfere with the thickness of my ends. So she trimmed it off every 3 months, not 2. My hair is very healthy as you can see. So no problem in the regimen department. NO MORE TRIMMING in 2011! Only 2 trims.

  • Wow, I see what you mean. Thanks for sharing this video and I am SURE you will meet your goals in 2011 now that you know what to do. Good luck!

  • me and you are about the same length! lets get BSL in 2011! lets get it!!! but girl get the splitender, it really helps and it barely takes any length off!

  • @ladiig0tswaqq Yes!! I was researching the Splitender last night but I have mixed feelings. Have you used it before? I was thinking of getting it so i can maintain my ends after I relax every 2 months. Just to snip off any jaggedness.

  • @ladydipset88 I love the way you add your music to your videos lol I always end up searching for the artist :)

  • @2pac4realu Lol..I always add music that shows my emotions to my vids lol. Since I'm kind of sad, i added this song lol.

  • @ladydipset88 The split ender is the truth! it literally barely takes any off but it gives you a nice little trim too!

  • Well, at least your hair is healthy...That's more important than length anyway...You will reach your goal soon. I have faith in you. Good luck!!

  • Glad you were able to figure it out. I'll be watching and praying.

  • just start trimming your hair yourself. honestly , there is nothing a stylist can do that we can not do. if you can grow your own hair than you can also trim it yousef ! good luck !

  • I think that sounds awesome, and its funny you mention relax every 2 months, because some women would gag at the idea, but at the beginning of this year i was relaxing my hair every 7 weeks and it grew all the way down to arm pit length, i did a stretch for 6 months recently and barely saw the benefits, I really think that 7-8 weeks is best, for my hair, when i get too much new growth i just begin losing too many strands of hair, best of luck to you.

  • @omthomas I found that happens with my hair too. I stretched for 4 months relaxed and when I tried to stretch again my hair said "uh Uhh" so I relaxed after 8 weeks and my hair is doing fine.

  • with the last statement...makesure your hair stylist have your best interest @ heart...Getting relaxers every 2 months=more money for her...that is why she dont want you to stretch your relaxer...

  • OMG i just did a video on the same topic Excessive trimming and have laso decided I'm going to trim every 6months Should of been BSL a HOT minute ago too... let's make it happen in 2011 hun smoochies

  • I'm glad you were able to figure out what was keeping you at the same length. I think the majority of stylists like to keep that blunt look simply because it looks neater. But hair does not grow like that. I'm not saying to hold on to ate up ends but I am saying you don't need a trim everytime you relax, especially if you wear protective styles. Maybe a dust but not a trim.

  • "stop trimming"... best video ever lmao

  • I am excited to watch you achieve your hair goals in 2011. Good luck.

  • AWW

  • Good Luck Lady, this sounds like a great plan!!! It's best to only trim every 6 months! I use to trim everytime when I relax and also be back at shoulder length... What has really helped me maintain my ends is by baggy and sealing!!! this method keeps the scissors away!!!

  • Girl, I agree with you!..I do my own hair now..moisturize and seal, and will only dust every 3months...I'm aiming for APL and will relax every 2months using Elasta QP products. Your hair is healthy though...pretty!

  • girl ur hair is beautiful n it looks real healthy ...no worries, we still love u, i just wanna wish u all best n god bless.

  • aw that sucks..good luck in 2011:-)

  • Don't be disappointed, your hair looks healthy and you now know what works and does not. Ain't no shame in the hair game. These things happen.
