everyone plays the same songs for marching season, same arrangements and everything. the crowds love them, you cant really be original anymore.. and BTW, university of memphis is the only place in tennessee you can get a docorate in music and they have some very highly decorated and respected members of the musical community working there. so act like adults please and grow up
@chygal790 I'm from Memphis and I'm a U of M Basketball fan, but what does U of M Doctorate Program have to do with anything? We're talking bout band and schools that critizise but imiate. A lot ot of folks in U of M band wish they were at a place like JSU, SU, or TnSU. I Know plenty of em.
Crucialdrummer needs to go back to Freshman English and learn how to speak and write.....I'm guessing that the University of Memphis didn't teach you that.....it sounds like you wish you were in the band at TSU or JSU.....are you mad because you didnt get a scholarship to those schools.....or maybe because you are a white person trapped in a black body.......get a life and a degree!!!!!!!
I don't think that there is any problem with Memphis' band playing I'm So Glad.
I do think that you all could had arranged your own version though. This is a song that TSU plays WAAAYYY to often for you all to think that you would get away with murder by playing an arrangement of our arrangement tailored for our crowd. Blasphemy!
Im in da band at Memphis and Why ya'll tsu folks give a fuk for its a damn song damn it a like we gettin money off dat song or sumthin. We folk in da band could give a fuck who wrote it we just do it to get our money for school! And by the way u tsu nut sacks need to be worrying about Jackson State gettin in dat ass again and dont worry about us ya dig
Look, I go to TSU, and it is the way yall have the nerve to play this song yet talk so much crap about TSU, and dog Black bands period, yet, yall are playing a Black school's (TSU's) arrangement. of "I'm so Glad" that is causing the ruckus. Again, I remember when UofM alumni pitched a fit over Big Ballin. Do you hear us playing Go Tigers Go?
Also, the way yall sound on this (and other stuff here), yall need to be worrying about Overton High School waxing yall, real talk!
k90107, you're talking tall, but you and your band is walkin small. And you are supposed to be a part of a premier music organization of one of the few premier universities in Tennessee?
Do your school a favor and act like you know your place before you further put your mouth. If you don't know why this is bothering TSU (or any other HBCU heads), then *singing* YOU WILL NEVER EVER EVER KNOW US...
LOL, how someone from Lane College with 1/8th of a marching band gonna come on here and call someone some idiots. Come back and talk when Whitehaven stops doing your homecoming fieldshows. LOL.
The Aristocrat of Bands has been playing their current arrangement since the 60s. I was born and raised in Memphis and went lots of Memphis State football games and almost every basketball game from Elloit Perry till Penny Hardaway played and NEVER heard I'm So Glad.
We also didn't add the triplet to the ending until 93. Talk what you know, pimp.
AD...for real.He is a graduate of my high school alma mater, and was the band director over there. Word from some of his students from my old alma matar has it he can't stand TSU, and was disappointed when a few of his students went there...talk about irony!
Most arrangements of this song except for a few sound like TSU's. But U of M is good for biting of TSU even though they have a low opinion of HBCU bands...

Since you're in the band at Memphis you can answer my question. I was curious on how many people are in your band this year?

AMEN brother. I hate how certain schools talk trash about HBCU's but can't do what we do.

That's not true, I heard TSU play the triplet as early as '87.

Thanks for straightening that out nupedaphied. Another Crat told me 93, but it's a moot point right now.

We did not play thhis arrangement and never had this arrangement til A.D. or brother Adrian wrote it in early 2000...I think presumbly 2003
