I think I know why some elephants live in India. Millions of years ago, India was next to Africa and Australia before it became part of Asia, so some of their ancestors must have migrated from Africa to India.

It is also possible that they migrated to Africa from India! However, before the continental drift, it is unlikely there were any elephants at all, anywhere.... :)

@cbsteffen When India and Africa was connected there were no elephants,humans,etc. India was connected to Asia when the elephants migrated out ogf Africa.
