The Omnia HD is better than the N97. I have the Samsung Omnia HD, and it is AWESOME, it is NOT slow. The N97 is better in terms of internal storage and QWERTY. The Samsung Omnia HD is better in terms of CPU, Ram, screen, camera.

I'm hesitating between those two phones!! hard decision...the samsung looks really cool on paper but i've seen it in a shop and it's very plastic like and makes it feel like a toy! but the hd video etc is very cool i dont know what to do!

@instantsurgery Perhaps you should wait for the rumored Nokia N8 (supposed to be announced in April) with 12Mpix, HDMI and 720p video recording ;) That, or I think Sony Ericsson Vivaz could be a more compact choice for hd recording. I own the Omnia HD and love the looks, but it's a bit too big and Symbian OS ui is dated...

no but you can have a lock code so that when you unlock the screen it asks for a password.

like in the iphone if you have seen it..

also if you have a mailbox (or mailboxes) in your phone you can set the phone to be locked when the sim card is changed so no one will be able to use your phone

To all who read this, I guess I have to agree with those that think that both phones have their own serious flaws, there's no clear winner and will never be... After using the I8910HD for two months now (had N97 before too for a short period of time), I feel like selling it and trying my luck with the N900.

I'm sure there're groups of people to whom these devices fit perfectly, but I just want to see what's next in the mobile phones world, mostly something non-Symbian!

Returned Omnia for the N97 after 1 week...sound on the Omnia has a problem and the HD on the phone's little lens...just does not work with all the lags. Omnia has a bigger and great screen...thats about it...if taking pictures is your thing...should wait for the Sony 12mp IDOU/SATIO...

Gonna be a few years away before they can make a small enough HD recorder with a working stabilizer...

all you had to do was update to the latest firmware which i have now and the sound quality is much better and much clear on my phone you can check my account to the the results. And comparing my video recording vid to the nokia n97 vids you see on youtube omnia hd wins.

True, the quality seems clear but the motions is the same as an LCD tv...can never beat a plasma due to the motion frame blurs...like i said...gonna be a few years+ before they can come up with something new to fix that...

Well size is just about the same...I like more the Omnia cuz it's thinner, I love the looks of the N97,screen is very responsive, it's fast, camera is awesome...the million pixels won't matter here because you won't get better quality with the 8mp...cons: the two speakers are bad for playing music, but it's not a sound stereo system right? Buy good headphones and you'll love it, to tell you the truth, today I held my N82, and I miss the real buttons... =) Go for the N97

My N97 is not laggy at all...I press and everything happens immediatelly...no lag. But I just tell you...you are going to be happy with this kind of phone for a few days...but when you get used to it, it won't be anything special anymore. I still have my N82 and it's mint, so I probably sell my N97 and keep my N82...These phones are too bulky...N82 is perfect

Isn't the internet radio built in the music player on the N97? About lack of apps it's sadly true, S60 is terribly under supported by 3rd party devs, just look at the iPhone App Store!

Wait for it , there's a big update coming this month that will add kinetic scrolling and improve RAM management on the N97. iPhone is a good choice for apps and games, but N97 is still a viable option for work and social networking imo...

Hey...I have Handy Taskman and programs for locking/unlocking the screen... and when both are running simultaneously (Either MyKeyLock and Handy taskman or Handy Taskman and nUnLock) Only Handy Taskman will work, and the other programs for locking/unlocking the phone won't work....does that happen to you too? n97 has minor guts the omnia hd is a powerfull beast compared to the n97

to make a long story short n97 sucks if you want ther speed goe for the e72

I do most of my movie watching on my iTouch, and although watching high res unconverted movies is pretty neat feat on the OmniaHD, I don't do so much video recording or video viewing to fully justify the high price. I'll probably also go for the N97 as soon as I sell my N85!

I got the N97 first, and i wasn't happy with it. The keyboard is not the greatest, and like menu's are just plain.... I mean its not that big of a deal but i mean for a 100 bucks more, you are getting a 8MP pixel camera with HD recording and a OLED screen, a bigger screen, the interface is way more smooth and better eye candy, the GPS finding is better. I returned my N97 yesterday and got the Omnia HD. Best Choice i've ever made when it came down to a cellphone.

well on the omnia hd it has a QWERTY touchscreen keyboard , handwriting (which is you writing on the screen and the standerd keyboard tht is on phones, Even though i know you posted this a month ago and you may even have bought the n97 by now i just wanted to let you know that it only takes a matter of 2 days tto get used to the i8910's qwerty keyboard which is really fantastic for me .
