If I go into the Sound Settings (by r-clicking the USB device in "Devices and Printers", there's a section called 'Enhancements' under the Properties for the Headset (which is labelled as a 2nd set of speakers n my system). One of those enhancements is virtual surround sound. It was unchecked when I first went in, but I'm wondering if I should check it.
It seems to be a Windows thing for compatible speakers, I just can't tell if it'll have any effect.
great review buddy thanks alot, was looking at these via overclockers but they seemed a little cheap, having now seen them on you and your personal non biased honest opinion on its features i ordered them, cheers
@yorkshire4000 no. they are open-ear design which mean you can still here the background noise, so if someone as talking to you then you will here them or if you have the tv on in the background you will here them.
@saberine1997 THESE (gamecon 777 7.1) In my opinion though. Just youd have to get used to the weight of these.. They are abit heavier then most other headsets but they made it that way so when you shake your head (RAGE) they dont slip off. And because these are alot more stirdier build then the trittons. But.. I f you have the spare money, Get the Trittons AX PRO 720. But get these instead of the tritton 180's :) But i must say, these are VERY comfortable! :) :]
@GeeksTech Actually you can use these on a ps3/xbox, although you'll need a mixamp. Try the Astro mixamp pro.
I would recommend this mix amp due to it greatly improving the sound quality of every headset I've tested including the Gamecom 777. As a side note the astro mix amp is MLG's official mix amp. (At least the bundle with both the mix amp and astro a40 headset is MLG endorsed).
@4Skyrim Actually you can i think: just plug your mic normally into the usb sound car, then into the ps3 and you just plug the "sound speaker" into your tv. At least for PS3 it works
Nice review man! I’m looking to get these but I'm running into the problem at where to buy them from. There seems to be many websites selling them with 5.1 surround sound even know they state their GameCom 777. Alittle confused, the only answer I could think of is that maybe theres an older version of 777 that come with 5.1 and not 7.1 like the newer versions.
@REVAvenged Yes these are a newer 7.1 model. so there are lots of places that are selling 5.1. so you do need to check before buying that you order 7.1 and not 5.1.

Do the headphones themselves, as in the ear cups cancel background noise?
