What I find interesting is that Robert "Tosh" Plumlee, a CIA pilot, admits that he flew Johnny Roselli into Dallas on a private MATS (Military Air Transport Service) flight the morning of 11/22/63. One of the head of the mafia being flown into Dallas the morning of the assassination on a private government flight? Smells like conspiracy spirit to me.
When I look back on this period in history, I always get the feeling that we as a country were robbed. That this wasn't supposed to happen. It seems almost like JFK's assassination was a violation of the of the laws of nature. He was a glamorous and intelligent figure and while he made some mistakes, he was ultimately shaping up to be a truly great president. And what did we get after him? LBJ, Nixon, and Carter. Our last great president, to be replaced by a warmonger, a maniac, and a failure.
In my opinion, this is the finest documentary film ever made which documents those 4 terrible days in our history. It really brings back all the emotions for me in ways that all the other films and remembrances do not. I particularly like the way the background music from the movie "Our Town" was interspersed throughout the movie. I believe this film was made in 1988 to mark the 25th anniversary. Now, we're coming up on 50 years. JFK has been gone for longer than he lived. My God.
I also taped this when it first aired, but have since lost the VHS tape. Thank you so much for posting it, I've looked for it ever since. An amazingly emotional piece of work that happened to win a few Emmys. It introduced me to the music of Charles Ives and the particular piece "Our Town" by Aaron Copland...wish it would be released on DVD. It's a masterpiece of documentary filmmaking.
He gave us all so much promise that we as a country could achieve some much. Then so suddenly and tragically it was all taken away from us and the world. We shall never see the likes of such a man as John Kennedy and that in itself is a terrible shame.
What a terrible loss for the usa. I agree that he had so much potential. He is the only President in the 20th century who really filled the role as far as image is concerned. when i think of a president of the usa, i think of Kennedy. I feel this loss so terribly even though it was before my time. Its interesting to speculate what might have happend had he won a 2nd term......what might have been...
@creates100 Yes, it is interesting to speculate on "what might have been." However the fantasy of Camelot always collides with the facts of his life. And facts, as John Adams once said, "are stubborn things." The evidence points to JFK having to resign from office or face impeachment because of the recklessness of his sexual trysts with women, which probably would have been made public. He would have left office in disgrace. Oswald's bullets ended JFK's life, but yet saved his reputation.
@TheTweeter53 ,What is worse ,alleged "trysts" with women or Launching large scale illegal wars against a country that had not attacked the U.S,Impeach Bu$h,why dont you stay off these JFK videos if you hate the man so much,You people continue to kill the man over and over again, you sicken me to the pit of my stomach,i utterly despise you Republican fascist scum.A president of the U.S was murdered and you people just cant hide your satisfaction,Whatever you people are you are not Democratic.
@TheTweeter53 You apparently have little understanding of journalism in that era and the public discourse. As repugnant as it is and sounds, it was compartmentalized and people cared not to report it. The only reason we care about it years later and today is b/c after he died, we were left with a bunch of complete degenerates and liars who took this countyr to shame in a such a way that no one could possibly trust them. His death in a way spanned the sensationalistic journalism of today.

@creates100 -- President Theodore Roosevelt and President Franklin D. Roosevelt and President Dwight D. Eisenhower - were exceptional men of courage and character - two Progressive, as is America's real tradition and contribution to philosophy and politics, and the later was very Washington (George) like -- they filled the role of President to a high degree and represented the Presidency well for America - JFK was like them more than anyone (except Reagan) afterwards is more like it.
I have that program however, I have not had a chance to put it on here. I will try and put it on sometime. I am surprised it is not on youtube already. Take care.
Thank you for sharing this with us, as well as the "Four Days in November" program. Here we are, just weeks away from the 45th anniversary of this dark day. If only he had lived, what great things he could have done. A true American patriot, if there ever was one.
Also - do you happen to have "JFK: In His Own Words"? This aired on HBO in Nov. '88. I've got a copy of VHS, but was wondering if you might have it to post on YouTube.
To me, this is still the very best documentary ever done on the Assassination of JFK and the days that followed......

I never forgot this program because of the great use of music. Copland's "Our Town" alternating with Ive's "Unanswered Question." Fantastic.

isnt it amazing how so many people can still feel the tragedy even though his death occured long before we were ever born?
that should definitely say something about what kind of person jfk was.
