I wonder how many times Macbeth has stabbed himeself in the foot or something jsut to piss off Demona. I also wonder how many times he has gone to a play just to see the reaction of the cast. "What's your name?" "Machbeth." "NO! HOW DARE YOU?" "No, it's my name!"
It would be funny if, in addition to the little announcement showing the year and location of the scene, it would flash back to Goliath and the others. MEANWHILE *shows them in stone, doing nothing*
You know, the whole "Only Demona can kill MacBeth" thing also works as a reference to the Shakespeare play. Didn't the witches say that MacBeth couldn't be killed by a man of woman born?
This show is defenitly going on my list over things I'll allow my future children (if I have any) to watch. Shows in the likes of Hanna Montana, Jonas Brothers, (come to think of it every show for kids for the past 5 years that has not been animated) and bloody damn Phineas and Pherb is banned for ever and shall never be shown in my home!!! NEVER!!!
Poor Macbeth...To never be with the one you love, and to live an immortal life for an eternity until one vanquishes the other. I really liked his story arch with Gruoch (sp?), and now he's one of my favorite villains on Gargoyles. Although it's kinda hard to call him that now knowing his backstory, so maybe tragic anti-hero would be better...
@neonrave210 That's how I felt at first but seeing all the betrayal and hatred she's had to put up with for 1000 years I've come to see her as somewhat of a frightened child. She's all alone knowing what happened to her Clan was her fault and tries to justify it in her head so she can believe it and not feel so guilty. OK she's made terrible choices in the past, but try to understand where she comes from. Her whole life people betray and are terrified of her kind no matter how helpful they are.
@TraustiGeir Yeah, they had that discussion she overheard that they were trying to be hush hush about and it ruined everything. If they made it castle policy to discuss delicate issues about gargoyles during the day, everything would still be going smoothly.
Disney just yielded to 'public' opinion, they had/have to consider the fate of their enterprise as well as their artistic desires. I don't blame them for selling out and letting shows like this gather dust in a warehouse, I blame the majority of contemporary society for becoming so *insert bad enough adjective here*.
wow demona, how retarded can you be? i mean she really jumps to conclusions and sides with the wrong humans, and this is the second time she's responsible for killing almost all of her kind.
Face it guys.... Disney is selling out. Jumping the shark. Losing sight. Screwing up. Disney no longer wants to put forth the effort to hire any good writers or writers with any talent in that matter. They've totally reverted back to their earlier formula: not actually taking their audience seriously and throwing an endless barrage of "wacky teen" sitcoms and crap in a hat animation. Disney should collect that money they're throwing away and put it to proper use, like this show once did.
Every single character in this show that could be classed as a villain is so layered. The only one-dimensional bad guys truly are throwaways, like the rest of the Pack or Dracon. How many programs, animated or not, can brag about such development?
They need to go back to this type of cartoons. I'm in highschool and I'm still obsessed with this show. They need to stop the crap that comes on now and replace i twith this. To hell with Hannah Montana and Suite Life
"I mean to buy it back...with your blood," WOW. Stabbing characters through the heart onscreen. Oh yeah. This show is unapologetic and awesome for it.
@SuzieCuzie22 The thing is, I think it's the same woman that does the voices for most of the Scottish women on Gargoyles: Kath Soucie. Maybe it's just her that sucks with Scottish accents.
Like what? I'm not trying to be ignorant here, I truly want to know, because I agree with them for the most part. There are not a lot of cartoon shows anymore that actually have story plots, complex characters, and a central theme or message. Not a lot that I see, anyway.
I don't own satellite or cable television myself, but it seems to me that whenever I do have the opportunity to flip through the cartoon channels like Disney, Nick, or Cartoon Network, there aren't all that many.
Boston Legal was pretty good when it was on. But it got canceled a few years ago after only 5 seasons which is a shame since it's one of the best shows I've seen since NYPD and Law & Order.
No, she didn't get stabbed. Only Macbeth got stabbed and as they stated, they were linked so in turn she felt his pain. Thus she reached for her chest as anyone would when feeling pain in that area.
Demona had always been my favorite character. Her story was so tragic, yet she couldn't escape the irony of it all. All she ever wanted was for her kind to be safe from the prejudice of humans, yet it was always because of her trying to do the right thing that they perished.
I have a tendency to hold grudges too, but DAMN, Demona is a mess! I still feel sorry for her. Forgiving others or even yourself is hard to do, at least I think so.
It's a shame we don't get to see Gruoch's father murdered like the little dips*** he is. His consistently cowardly and retarded advice is just as much to blame for things getting screwed up for Macbeth than Demona's being a b****, if not moreso.

I don't consider haloCE6's comments to be particularly obscene, I've seen a lot worse on vids of cartoons aimed at a younger audience.
There was a scene in an episode of Storm Hawks where one of the lizard characters, Repton, stuck his tongue out and licked some frozen yoghurt (scene was suggestive to those of us with a dirty mind) and someone left a really off-colour comment about it.

Totally with you. Actual anime - with a plot and something real behind - it is fine, but most of the stuff they show now is just plain rubbish. There's nothing like Gargoyles around anymore, and it's such a shame.
Good job we've got the DVDs and comics. We can keep on spreading the word.
Aye. It's a sad truth you speak. Thank goodness for users like nayrusavatar who posted this whole series. Hopefully, the younger generation will happen to run across it on here one day. Maybe then, there will be hope for them.
I agree with you to an extent, but I think the English dubb of DragonBall is much better than the japanese. I pretty much prefer everything else in Japanese though
Hey, anchanta ...you realize that this is an American show, right? And since you like anime so much, be on the lookout for Brooklyn and Broadway the next time you watch "The Big O".
Yeah, I get the Dragonheart reference. I don't think either Gargoyles or Dragonheart would have copied from each other though, whilst City of Stone broadcast a year before Dragonheart was released, Dragonheart would have been in production before CoS aired.
Down the fucken drain im afraid, I loved watching gargoyles saturday morning ,I got to say gargoyles is probably the best thing to come out of disney ... now what do the kids have, suite life ? hannah montana?
Im glad i grew up with awsome shows with good animation, plots and music(Batman TAS,x-men Animated series)
I hear that! Ah the good ol' days...Batman, Superman, X-men, Beast Wars (for me at least, lol), Gargoyles (duh), even reruns of the old loony toons...the 90's were good to us.
The 2000's bitch slapped an entire generation out of any quality entertainment. That's for damn sure!
Good thing too. I've heard that there's a Gargoyles comic by the original creator of the series. It's supposed to continue from where season 2 left off...not that shit season 3 gave us.
I officially label season three of Gargoyles as the beginning of the Pussification of Disney.
Bruce Tim is the only person who could keep Badass cartoons alive and even he had to give up after JLU. Its actually kind of funny, this show had the potential to make Disney a major competitor in the action cartoon arena, but they were so confused by it that they didn't know what to do. Instead, they went with 'Kim Possible' and kiddy live action and stupid cartoons. and then the stupid spread.
It seems only nickalodean takes cartoons seriously, anymore.
Sadly the good shows are fading and near dust in the history of animation. Though once in a while good shows like this or near this, pop up but not much of them come from america anymore thanks to all the people saying it's hurting their child's fragile minds or due to the interest levels in one area the other areas grow smaller and become "extinct" more or less. Though you could show your future children or nieces/ nephews this stuff instead of the present day shit...
This is very true; its harder nowadays to make shows like this with out the censors and parents having a hissy fit over whats on television blaming the makers when they, the parents, should be more responsable teaching their kids fantasy from reality, even with all the ratings they put on tv and movies ironically.
@jocstarbunny You are right but it is also wrong to try and keep a child so...naive. Cartoons like these and the X-Men and Batman the animated series were good cartoons that taught us about morals, even the adults enjoyed them.
@jocstarbunny i have to agree. thats why im going to be a cartoonist and re-defy the tv universe in introducing REAL anime/cartoon series thats deep and alot of genres/sectors. if wussy parents dont like it then they can suck it because tv is meant to reveal art and meaningful. i'll be big and maybe i'll be known throughout this world. i love these cartoons and theyll forever live on as classics. instead of showing my kids johnny test i'll make them watch DVDs of x-men evolution and so much more
@jocstarbunny I'm all of 15, and I have to say, these are the good ones. I can't stand anything of the new ones, with the exception of a few of DC's... I miss when Disney was like this...
What those who compain how the old series harm their children's minds don realise is that with their over-sanitised 'clean' series, they cause even more harm to their children, isolating them from the reality of the world instead of preapring them for it.
There are good shows like this nowadays, though they are very Very VERY hard to find or soccermoms or whatever gets rid of them saying they are too inappropriate for their child's "fragile little minds"...
Ahh, Some still believe in acting as such. Me being one, and loving the woman i care for, without reason more then my feelings for her, and the love she gives me... I hope someday you find the same, "iceblonde"...

Ever hear of Onepiece?
4Kids destroyed that show when they dubbed it...
Anycat...
Now all cartoons pretty much SUCK!
I prefer Animes... and like to watch most of them in Japanese.
anchanta 2 years ago
I agree with you to an extent, but I think the English dubb of DragonBall is much better than the japanese. I pretty much prefer everything else in Japanese though
SuperSaiyanJoseph 2 years ago
Hey, anchanta ...you realize that this is an American show, right? And since you like anime so much, be on the lookout for Brooklyn and Broadway the next time you watch "The Big O".

I know Gargoyles is an American show.
It's one of few good cartoons!

I know...
I wrote that in response to a comment someone made about todays shows being no more than shitty cartoons and anime....
Gargoyles should be shown earlier... It's an awesome show with some structure...
Disney has it on at 4am.... That's just wrong!
anchanta 2 years ago 46
yeah. todays cartoons sucks ass, especially those anime series. Shows like Gargoyles, Batman, Transformes were good shows. I miss these.

has anyone seen dragon heart??? if not, then this question means nothing....
gahenna666 2 years ago 3
Yeah, I get the Dragonheart reference. I don't think either Gargoyles or Dragonheart would have copied from each other though, whilst City of Stone broadcast a year before Dragonheart was released, Dragonheart would have been in production before CoS aired.

xXIronbitXx,
I hear that!

No one seems to take Cartoons seriously anymore. Its a pity, the comic book is back in force, however.
vp21ct 2 years ago
Good thing too. I've heard that there's a Gargoyles comic by the original creator of the series. It's supposed to continue from where season 2 left off...not that shit season 3 gave us.
I officially label season three of Gargoyles as the beginning of the Pussification of Disney.
AndrewDeLong 2 years ago 5
i agree. since this story arc, nothin produced by Disney has come up to tis stnadards both in drama and storytelling
FeyaLeigh 2 years ago
and very little else where.

Uh, what about W.I.T.C.H., season two in particular? That at least came close.

maybe.. but it was too girly and fluffy to come up to this standard

xXIronbitXx,
Sadly the good shows are fading and near dust in the history of animation. Though once in a while good shows like this or near this, pop up but not much of them come from america anymore thanks to all the people saying it's hurting their child's fragile minds or due to the interest levels in one area the other areas grow smaller and become "extinct" more or less. Though you could show your future children or nieces/ nephews this stuff instead of the present day shit...
jocstarbunny 2 years ago 59
@jocstarbunny
This is very true; its harder nowadays to make shows like this with out the censors and parents having a hissy fit over whats on television blaming the makers when they, the parents, should be more responsable teaching their kids fantasy from reality, even with all the ratings they put on tv and movies ironically.
Oedi2674 1 year ago
@jocstarbunny You are right but it is also wrong to try and keep a child so...naive. Cartoons like these and the X-Men and Batman the animated series were good cartoons that taught us about morals, even the adults enjoyed them.
bruiseviolet05 11 months ago
@jocstarbunny i have to agree. thats why im going to be a cartoonist and re-defy the tv universe in introducing REAL anime/cartoon series thats deep and alot of genres/sectors. if wussy parents dont like it then they can suck it because tv is meant to reveal art and meaningful. i'll be big and maybe i'll be known throughout this world. i love these cartoons and theyll forever live on as classics. instead of showing my kids johnny test i'll make them watch DVDs of x-men evolution and so much more
NOVAGIRL666 10 months ago 3
@jocstarbunny I'm all of 15, and I have to say, these are the good ones. I can't stand anything of the new ones, with the exception of a few of DC's... I miss when Disney was like this...
GallifreyanGhostGirl 7 months ago
@jocstarbunny
What those who compain how the old series harm their children's minds don realise is that with their over-sanitised 'clean' series, they cause even more harm to their children, isolating them from the reality of the world instead of preapring them for it.

OhHenryDude,
There are good shows like this nowadays, though they are very Very VERY hard to find or soccermoms or whatever gets rid of them saying they are too inappropriate for their child's "fragile little minds"...

@OhHenryDude
The FCC has sucked it all away and Hollywood is turning us into mindless bobbole heads with their prodcutions of remake after remake.
