01:45 seriously ? you just survived an avalanche and the first thing your concerned about is not your kids or life but how you're gonna get out of there...
i cant even lie- i started watching because nothing else was on, but it was better than i expected. the plot is.... lets say unbelievable, but the acting and effects were better than expected. the movie wont win any awards but i'll probably watch it next time it comes on.
there are a bunch of academic papers about it and there was a methane hydrate research and development act of 2000. Some scientists think offgassing hydrate played a part in a major extinction in the geological record. Google K-T event methane hydrate.
3 hours ago I heard this movie is supposed to be about methane hydrate offgassing from the ice caps. Does anyone know if this movie is going to address the gigatons of methane hydrate offgassing from the continental margins of every land mass on earth?
This is a book from 2003 about methane hydrate. Remember how noone could figure out why they put seawater down the drill pipe?
Page 279 Fire Ice (Published 2003)
"One method is pumping steam or water down the drill hole. This melts the hydrate and releases the methane. Then you pump the methane to the surface of the sea floor through another drill hole."
Recently BP-Amoco discovered how to bring these frozen fireballs to the surface intact...
...Ever since the discovery of these hydrates one of the big questions has been "can we mine them without triggering a disaster that makes the K-T event look mild by comparison?"
