where i live a german plane crashed in a mud bog and ot had 4 MG15's on it. they are the predecessors of the mg34's and mg42's. each one is worth around £1,500!
@08natahnw im sorry but thats bullcrap, not the part about the plane and the MG15's, that might be true. but a MG15 is worth much MUCH more then 1500 pounds.
@eivindandreashiew It depends what model you look at. The MG15, unlike the MG34, was manufactured as a mounted aircraft weapon, and only a few ground based test models were made pre 1939. But when Germanys supplies were crippled in 1944 they took the guns from the aircraft and grounded them. They added a saddle drum, stock and bipod to them. The aircraft-mounted models ARE around £1500, as they probably never saw any real action. The ground models, as you say, are worth between £2500-£10,000.
Amasing technology. Where I live in england a german dornier 17 light bomber crashed in a mud bog near the beach because of a failed engine. That plane has 4 mounted MG15 in it(the predecessor of the MG34)and each one is worth around £1'500 pounds. Course, the guns are loaded and when it exploded in the crash the guns probably blew up, but I'd risk drowning in quick sand to get to that plane!
Where is this narrator guy from? He sounds like he's from the US most of the time, but when when he says words like shots, notch, and craft he pronounces them in a way similar to an Englishman.
Did the Germans have a Machinegun similiar to the M2 Browning 50 Caliber? The MG 42 and MG 34 are outstanding machineguns but the M2 could kill soldiers, destroy all vehicles except tanks and destroy aircraft.
@jjhays36 besides being too time-consuming to produce in the millions demands, the MG34 was also not as reliable, especially in the dusty desert or muddy steppes of Russia. The MG42 was not only cheaper and faster to make but less likely to jam.
@naxa321 The National Firearms Act of 1934 simply required registration of machineguns. Depending on the state and local laws, it is possible to legally own a machinegun. Ask the thousands of people that have them in the US!!
in my opinion the 34 is a much more elegent looking piece then the 42, yeah i now their practically the same design but i hate the way the barrel jacket looks on the 42 and the rectangular look of the reciever, it generaly looks meaner as well which could be an advantage, but any way im just rambling so heres to the mg 34/42, the 2 most advanced general purpose machine guns for over 60 years!
Good video, but the description is wrong. If it was an "old german war video" the narration would be in German. This is a US Army training video. The Army used these videos to teach American GIs how to use captured enemy equipment.
Its Beautiful! Problem is thought they were to accurate as a machine gun putting about 15-20 rounds in each solider, which in turn is a waste of ammo which is a waste of money. Haha germans having to be so damn good at what they did.
the most genius part of this gun is the fact that it has the double trigger feature...semi n full ... its shit loads easier for the gunner thats for sure... can simulate lone rifle shots to lure enemy out and pour down hell once they are exposed lol....

MG-34's and 42's are relics from pre world war II and WWII. The 34 suffered from hairline-itis, it was fitted too precisely from a combat weapon and suffered multiple failures as a result. The MG-42 was developed to solve this problem, yet, the 42 suffered many of the same failings. IF kept clean they function perfectly, if not, they don't function at all. They are a wonderful Mauser development of the past, But, they are not suitable from service in a desert. Now, they are collector pieces.
not wrong my grandfather brought one home after the war and before he was sent to jail for warcrimes, about 20 years ago (years before he got out) someone offered him $40,000 USD that's a lot of money in British pounds, he declined, I neve figured him for a sentimentalist nostalgia gets the better of some people it seems
was a Gruppenführer posted to Jasenovac nearing the end of the war, and he was jailed for just that, being a ranked SS officer, but he believe in the Nazi ideals and didn't go all Speer and thus he was jailed.
The trigger is a great idea, you suppres them with single shots, let them think they've killed the sniper and then waste them all when they get closer.
More like being able to shoot at them without giving away the fact you're the MG. Full auto fire tends to draw more attention from the other side, and that's a bad thing.
A Waffen SS MG crew (2 men) had to train for 2 years before they saw battle! This was in the early war years offcorse. KROMBAHNfiring with mg...only germans that could manage that!
