very nice interpretation, who is de conductor? is very young, probably entonation yn bras sometimes is rarely?.... but is not problem... y like de conviction
Very thoughtful and accurate interpretation of what has got to be one of my favorite pieces of music of all time. Too bad Brahms didn't use full orchestral forces like this more often.
Incredible!!! it sound perfect! I think this is the best play (I've seen on youtube) thinking in the "spirit" of the original composition. A shame the quality of the audio, it has a scratch or noise or something. What a beautiful women!!! This video has everything! Did I say something about the women? They are beautiful!!!
You know what I don't get. Of all the videos on Youtube, this is the only video that I actually think plays the piece like it should be played. It used to be the first result for "Academic Festival Overture" on youtube. However, a year later, it gets moved down one slot, replaced by one with quality that is not as good (just being nice, if I was honest, I would really be bashing the musicality of that performance). Then another year later, this video gets pushed down two more slots.
It doesn't get much better than this. Human beings make life so much better when they perform in this fashion. It gives my mind and heart more reason for loving, and that is good!
@eth5530 I adore this piece. I first heard it on TV watching an old Cary Grant movie...'People Will Talk'. At the end of the movie, he conducts the orchestra in a very moving performance.
Just a quick question: Is there any more information regarding what has happened to the conductor [I searched the conductor's name and did not get much feedback] and this fantastic orchestra? Have they all gone their own ways? Any more performances? Thanks, I absolutely worship this video~♥
Well, this was absolutely BREATHTAKING. The orchestra looks quite young, and I was so impressed when I first watched this to see the flawlessness and the perfection of each of the notes and phrases. The conductor truly seems to connect with each of the musicians in the orchestra; the sound quality is absolutely phenomenal;; so are each and every one of the notes and rhythms. I love listening to this, thank you so much for the upload! ^^
Jó volt megnézni ezt a videót! Én is játszottam ugyanezt, ugyanitt 2007-ben! Életem legnagyobb élménye volt amatőr zenészként fellépni a zeneakadémia nagytermében a Műegyetemi Szimfónikus Zenekarral :)
Well seeing that I'm such a spazz I need a GPS Device just to find my place of employment Everyday, and I haven't got a talented bone in my Body, I can't really relate to some of the criticism
Dalcroze would have disagreed. Whether or not the musicians move in sync is not the point, do they move at all? Yes!!! That's why this young group plays as well as they do. The brass' lungs are certainly young though, aren't they?

It bothers me that each musician moves around but not in sync with the others. I would punch some of those violinists in the face for sure. And fuck the claronet players, they really piss me off.
Great performance of one of my favorite pieces of music. BTW Is the very talented orchestra very young?........everyone in it appears to be in their twenties!!!
Beautiful sensitive phrasing, marvelously old fashioned!

I think the piano passages could be softer. However, they play with such SPIRIT.

Why are the men dressed so slovenly? A bit incongruous compared with the formally dressed women and conductor

Les musiciens sont jeunes et beaux, surtout le chef d'orchestre, c'est rare et super sympa !!!

Those are some strings right there. Conductor rushes some of the passages that could be more expressive, but overall a fun and exciting performance.

Is it just me, or is the high woodwind section too animated? I think they could cool it.
ConductorMan03 2 years ago
I like it. In my opinion it is a matter of taste.

Definitely too animated. I was waiting for someone to get whacked in the face.
