@UzumakiYodaime yeah, the voltage is boosted up to 400v and the current becomes extremely low compared to the battery, this current then stacks up inside the capacitors until they reach the voltage being given to them,
You guys realize that human tissue is not made out of aluminum, right? You can put your hands across a 12 V battery and nothing will happen because your resistance is too high. At the same time, you can drop a piece of aluminum (or metallic ruler) across a 12V battery and the same explosion will happen. In light of this, I doubt the capacitors will 'sublimate' your tissue.
I just got shocked by mine a few times today. The human body has too much resistance that you just get a tingly sensation from your muscles contracting due to the current. You might get cooked a little internally I suppose....
its not that powerful. I've hooked up several in parallel, getting a high microfarad rating and high voltage output. I can only shoot down a few aluminum cans with nails.I don't get much of a shock out of it either. Now try touching the electrodes of a neon sign transformer. :)
after getting my hands in to contact with the arc from a turned on TV i dont seek electric shocks anymore.. tho i will mention that this can hurt if not used to it.. but it wont kill u.. unless ur extremely stupid or very unluckky. maybe both.
@DeathCalibur i'm not sure about how much 2 small batteries would do to you but as a general rule you don't touch charged capacitors because they have a tenancy of killing people, or atleast giving a nasty shock, depending on the size. unless you're an idiot or get turned on by electric shocks haha
You know nerd was the term coined for the exact opposite of a Drunk. Drunk spelled backwards is Knurd which is pronounced Nerd. GG my friends, if your not a nerd your a drunk. Nice VId. Going to try none the less, don't worry I won't sue.
if i show u an scr u w be worried not to drop it on yr fes :)) (200A 1400v to be moe precise, it never getshot or even worm no matter how many caps i use. so far i got 18mF at 350v) to get rid of the rezistance in the sistem use a thicker wre for the conections (i use 6mm^2 and 2mm^2 for thecoil) put 2 washers at the ends of the coil and an pice of iro pice over it. this way u will get a good efichency. i put 4mmX3cm nail projectiles through cocons (blunt tip projectile). nice prezntation btw :)
try putting a coil on the capacator, this should generate a EMP, high enough to disturb high frequecy technologies, like coin validator in a vendor machnine to get free soda's ;)
hahahaha....i have touched a 400 volt 500 uF cap bank on a dare and i still have all ten fingers....so yeah, not too bad

Poke that capacitor without incident and then we'll talk.

For instance a STMicro STB25NM50N-1 rated at 550V at 22A.....
Just a thought :)

lol well played. Just don't kill yourself. Zreiscool, on the other hand, can kill himself. I'd be fine with that.

electrokenetic?
its a coilgun; nothing more, also not a proof of concept; its been done before.
gonepishing 3 years ago
Yes. "Electrokinetic" means we are using "electricity" to incite "motion," or kinetic energy.
A coilgun is electrokinetic propulsion.
It's not a proof of concept for everyone else, it's a proof of concept for us. It's also a test of our triggering mechanism.
gunnerzip 3 years ago
i heard of coilguns, electromagnetic guns/accelerators and ferromagnetic accelerators but never electrokenetic;
makes sense though.
btw; what firing mechanism? are you referring the the blinking LED? I assume the mechanism itself is just a relay.
nice coilgun btw; I really ought to make a better one myself (2 stage anyone?)
I recommend making a casing for it and posting to the "worlds coilgun aresenal"
gonepishing 3 years ago
Well, Better parts have arrived ( such as stronger SCR's ), and a better gun will be developed! Stay tuned for the bigger version, comming soon!
