azzording to what i have learnt is that if it is a recording it is not compulsory to prostrate however (sajdah tilawaat), however if you want to it is permisible this will depend on your piety (sp) but if you are listening to a live recitation then it is compulsory to perform sujood even if you are listening to it over television.

You must do Sajda because this recitation contains a sajda verse.

According to a fatwa that i read, sajda is not necessary if the recitation is recorded. However if the prayer is live, that is on live on tv or internet, sajda must be done.

jazak Allah khair, but why inserting the 'pbuh' in Arabic in the middle of the transdlation??? It doesn't exist in the Arabic Quran, of course, so you shouldn't 'add' in the translation like that!

Actions are judged according to intentions. I am sure the intention was not to add to the translation of the Qur'an, but to send salutations upon Mohammed (SAW).

It is a polite reminder that Allah the Almighty has commanded us to send 'peace and blessings upoon the Prophet-pbuh', and who would not like to be reminded of Allah's commands. Judge for yourself.

Qur'an, it is impossible to translate it exactly. Only some of its beauty and message can be conveyed in another language, in so doing there are bracketed explanations, asterisks referring to other commentaries, similarly reminders to send 'peace and blessings on our most beloved prophet 'saw''. Translation is not Quran itself and thus we may handle it without 'wuduu'. Allah knows better.

It is a recording and therefore you don't have to do a sajdah on hearing the sajdah aayah. If we were listening to it live then we would but we are not.

Really? you don't have to sajda? But I think we should because if we pay attention to the meaning, it clearly says that believers prostrate against Allah in the Hereafter.
