I mostly ignored the new series, although I did record it for friends. They should have come up with a truly new, original show. But aside from that, I'm amazed that people didn't notice how racist the new version was. Think about it. There were two black characters in the original series, who became a white guy and an asian girl in the new one. But I didn't see any Occupying going on over that, or Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton shaking down the production company...

I just finished a 4 day marathon of watching the series. I began to think about the all the booze and death on the show and came up with a guess of how much was drunk ( or dranked) More than i could ever afford.

And by my calculations only 13 people survived.

I was wondering on how they were going to portray Starbuck as a woman. They didn't a change a thing. In the original series Dirk Benedict played the part of Starbuck. Starbuck the man drank heavily, smoked cigars, gambled, would get into fights with surperior officers and others, and would whore around with every woman he could find.

i love the fact that katee can do a range of emotions. So many tv shows are so... cardboard-ish with their characters. Take NCIS : LA or many others. I just love the new BSG. Great cast. great dichotmy. I'd take her in a second.

Nice to see the rest of the panel members beaming and listening appreciatively! All too often, it seems, when I watch these kinds of clips, the rest of the cast appear utterly disinterested in what their costars are saying, and look generally unhappy to be there.

It probably bears mentioning that I was referring to cast members of OTHER shows when I was commenting on the typical "disinterested" and "unhappy" demeanor of actors in "these kinds of clips".

The Battlestar actors are this pleasant, enthusiastic, and mutually respectful in every interviewy clip of them I've ever seen.

LOL The original Starbuck actor has this pathetic blog called 'Starbuck Lost in Castration' & is really bitter about the new show (calls it unimagined) & the way the new character is not a man(because according to him women are simply castrated males). He goes on and on about he was oppressed by network execs b/c he could not play a womanizer, yet claims the new show has no morals. I think that particular irony is lost on him. Just read it if you can- its pretty funny actually.

The article of which you speak is well-written and very accurate. I read it and didn't detect ANY bitterness. It's creative, articulate, and quite correct regarding the points he makes. I like the new series and plan to watch every episode. That is a compliment in itself, as I liked the original series and understand the disappointment many feel regarding the changes in gender and the blurring of the lines between good and evil.
