I just bot a nightster. I'm 5'4" tall and 145 pounds. The suspension bottoms out in the street and big bumps quite often and I almost lifted the rear tire out of traction scraping the pipes today. however it is quite smooth on good roads and cruses at 80 just fine
I think it's such a nice bike and it's also the most selling bike in H-D company I have 08 nightster and i'm in Saudi Arabia and it's wonderfull and powerfull bike and also i did some cruises in so many countries but it dosen't fit tall guys ... and also the gas tank is a bit smaller than other models from harley and it's the best bike to be the first bike in harley,,,,,
6'3 and riding a sporty? good lord, tell him to try out a Triumph Rocket III, he would probably like the feel of it since he is pretty tall, the bike in general fits a lot better for taller people.
HD's are cool but personally not my cup of coffee really. I like the looks but that is about it.
I wouldn't doubt that, they were however more intimidating in the groups rather then by themselves, they still are.
As for that, I am just saying that a Triumph Rocket III is a big bike made for big people as in comfort so if he wanted more comfort, that may be a bike he likes, it's a beast.
My brother inlaw is about 6'3, 6'4 and use to have a harley but he said they seemed like a toy because of his size.
Just as short as a generation ago the HD ElectraGlide was about the biggest bike out there. It was pretty big and quite adequate for pretty much anybody size. A friend of the family was a Motor cop and he stood about 6'7" and it fit him. But soon all the other Cycle companies attempted to out do HD by making everything bigger as if thats better. Not necessarily so. For instance the GoldWing is rediculous, why not just get an SUV if you need that much space to stretch and be comfortable.
I have an '09 Nightster and I wondered the same thing. Here's my opinion: It's the inseam that's most important. I have a 32 inseam and it fits just right. Whether you're taller or shorter over-all won't change how your legs feel on the bike. I'd say a person with a 33/34 inseam and shorter would fit well on the bike. However, there is no better test than to sit on a bike yourself. Stop by your HD dealer and test a few out. Good Luck!
looks, feels, sounds and hauls ass like a MOTORCYCLE. A classic American motorcycle. It's not trying to be anything else. great 1950's styling - and obviously A LOT of people love it - best selling motorcycle line in history.
Sorry the "fellas" you are referring to would provably look down on a bike like this. It is too much of a purist bike. And as for the wealthy aspect of your comment. Well at it's base price off $9,600 it is cheaper than Japanese sportsbikes and quite a few cruisers. As for them breaking down all the time well I don't think you have ever owned one so an argument from ignorance is worth about ohh! negative five.
It doesnt even look nice. Looks like it comes used straight from the factory. Do the guys on the assembly lines get to put 20k miles on it before it goes out the door? What a piece. I support American products but damn guys, wake up! Go check out a Victory, nice, elegant and you get more for your money.

For $17,000 I got a 9 inch back tire, a chromed out bike package, 100cu motor and, it's sick looking on top of that. I've done my homework and I dont work for Victory but I do know what a good deal is when I see one. For a $17,000 HD you get 2/3s of a motorcycle, they cost 20k+ all said and done, with hardly any chrome at all, a skinny back tire, a smaller engine, and they look plain as possible. You'd have to sink another $8-12k+ to even get them close to the already done Victory. Good luck.

Keep in mind that in the 60s and early 70s the Sporty was the bike of choice for Hells Angels and some of them were some big dudes.
