I love Maria callas so much, and this video makes me love her even more. She sung everything how it should have been sung, and sadly, even though i want to become an opera singer, no one will ever match up to her musicality and voice,so I suppose being an opera singer would be almost pointless after the world has experienced the best opera singer that they will ever get, and yet being an opera singer is the most fulfilling thing I could do with my life
No offense. Callas was a great and important 20th century opera singer. I'm a fan. But from footage such as this, no matter how you justify it, her personality is conceited, arrogant and spoiled. She is a total diva.. She could have said "I just vant to be alone" LOL But from biographies she was insecure and very unhappy in her personal life. Still, I find it interesting that other sopranos like Beverly Sills were modest and humble.
@MastersoftheOpera Maria Callas is not one-dimensional as you would like it. She was not conceited, never spoiled. Arrogant, when the situation called for it, such as here, dealing with a stupid gaggle of arrogant reporters. She was sometimes happy and sometimes unhappy. She was sometimes secure and sometimes insecure. She was often modest and humble.
She is La Divina. Great character, on and off the stage. Bravo, Maria, for ever!
She's such a pleasure to watch. A fascinating person. And when she's angry she's so wonderfully sarcastic. Such eloquent expressions and such a characteristic, and in my opinion totally BEAUTIFUL face.
GOOD NEWS dear Callas fans!!!! Striker capitulates! The automated production of feces is over. He's a nervous wreck because the great Filaredo gang has destroyed the white knight on his black donkey. Striker, you are alone in a hopeless plight!Go home and lick your wounds!!! Hoohooohaahaahhhaaa..... what a wonderful world...!!! Striker is only a picture of misery.....LOL

something about Greek women.. .they should all be shot. i know this greek girl, her name was Adamandia and she wigged out on me. All these greek women think they better than everyone else. shame on all of them
The only thing you are revealing with this almost unbelievable statement of yours,is your utter and profound wealth of ignorance!!!!You are, thinking about it,'judging' the whole of 'mankind',as ultimately there are no such things as 'borders' or 'countries'...every person on this PLANET is an INDIVIDUAL...each unique by their genes and biological and sociological 'situations'!!You are basing your belief on what ONE female person did,who happened to be born in Greece??Grow up,for your OWN sake!!
i've seen this footage before and though i love her i can't help but feel how naive she could be sometimes(strange statement i know) - no one else would give those airport reporters the time of day but as usual she gave and gave! from a certain point in the fifties all anyone wanted to do was 'bait' Callas and bring out Le Tigre and its an indictment of the times, not Callas, that an artist of her calibre could be trated as such. Viva Maria!
Her beauty was in the fact her voice was unpolished, and at times raw, but that gave it more natural beauty and charm than all the women since who tried to sound beautiful and ended up not remembered. Suck on that Opera collector!
Callas was full of flaws, wobbly high Cs, ugly screaming voice, horrendous technique that cracked most of the time, let's not mention her monotonous high notes, unlike sutherland's ringing ones. hmmm let's see what else?
she lost her e-flat in 1955, she produced bizarre sounds in many coloratura passages (example: the Ah! si in saprgi d'amaro that became hooo! si) and they call her "la divina", and a dramatic coloratura! ¿?
Callas was one of the three or four most important figures in the entire history of opera; her unequaled musical integrity, musicianship, musicality, total identification with each role she sang, rhythmic mastery and incisiveness, bringing new respect for classic and forgotten Bel Canto operas, superb declamation of the text, and marvelous stage presence will never be forgotten and did more for opera than most.
sonjaxfactor: Callas was probably the greatest operatic artist who ever lived - certainly the supreme diva of the Twentieth Century. In her prime, she could sing absolutely anything and had a three octave vocal range. Her sense of drama and musicianship has never been equaled - let alone surpassed. She could wed text with music like no one before or since. Opera is said to exist B.C. and A.C -----before Callas and after Callas.
:))))) BC and AC was coool...she is a legend and nobody can double her for sure. "USE YOUR MIND" hahahaha- a real capricious diva...she can do that becuase she is MARIA Callas...
I think it's pretty easy to discern characteristic elements of the Greek culture in her personality, even in those brief encounters here!... These cultural elements are all over her manorisms, expressions, bodily and textual interactions with others. She appears 110% Greek, and if you can't see it, then you should start considering that perhaps don't know much about cultures and their different norms.

Maria Callas' UNPOLISHED and HARSH voice definitively was not beautiful, and after her famous tapeworm-diet her voice was the worst (she damaged her vocal cords). Her notorious vocal decline began when she had only 39 yold.
whoever to listen Callas' voice FOR FIRST TIME, says that it's INSUPPORTABLE.... and the first impression is the true one!.
Your prima donna was a dirty woman. She was Onassis' public lover until the rich mand rejected her to married with a real lady with class and charm. The temperamental ugly mezzo-soprano betrayed to her husband, she was extremely ambitious and an unfounded vain woman, because she was ugly with her typical greek face. She had to shave every day.

...and the ugly & temperamental prima donna wasn't a good person, she died without husband, friends and relatives. When her own mother requested 100 dollars to her, she furiously said "...you must jump by the window...". Callas hated her mother who lives in the poverty. You must to ask why Callas hated her mother...her history is horrible too like her voice. She wasn't a saint......
Because the mother prefered her older sister and made Maria pushed her looking for soldiers and "entertain them" as a young woman during the war in order to get money for the family. :(

Dear Callas fans!
Striker9410 is a liar and fraud. He breaks the agreement with Filaredo group since 3 days and continues to bash Anna Netrebko on Anna Netrebko sites.
He cannot end his bad comments and we come back to Callas sites if he don't stop his insults right now.

Just because she did not take BS from anybody .... is not to be confussed as 'Greek personality' whatever that means!
She was simply smart, speaking and singing four or five languages!

figapoof..you should consider stop masturbating all to often.R.Tebaldi looks like my dick in the morning after i slept with your mother.
Callas was the sexiest thing as well as the best soprano of all time and the fact that you don't like her is due to the fact that you are a faggot.
the other cocksucker you call ''real lady''is a prostitute just like your mama..speaking of which..ask her to call me for the usual.will you?
