we went in May this year, and they had to stop 'Oblivion' because there was a guy using his mobile to video the ride, there don't always catch them but when they do they stop the ride and take the phones off them till the end. i'm bettin the Idiot with the camera in this video is to blame for it being stopped.

Whilst it may fall off the ride most times, in other cases it is entirely possible it could spin off hit someone else or even hit people on the ground. This ride goes fast so the camera will be going fast. It isn't a case of odds, it is the principle that we have a fucking idiot putting someones life or health at risk.
@AssassinZable The momentum from the ride would make the camera keep on going forward even when it stops, and if it hit someone, they would have a very bad day.

@MultiSuperllama it cant really stop in the middle (unless it stalls) because when you are off the lift chain, the coaster is at the mercy of gravity until it hits the brakes or another lift hill.
It happens all the time, its just something that happens with air, its nothing to worry about all thought I did panic because I was on the last train of the day and there were just four of us on it when it stopped, the staff working on nemesis laughed at us.

it is just being kept in that section of the track because the car in front of it just ending is a little to close. its not really a malfunction but more of a process of preperation
The reason why they did the emergency stop is because the black guys got camera out and filming or taking pics, they dont let you use camera or film while your on the ride.They find out from the cameras fitted on either side of the ride.

Tis funny, this is the EXACT same place we broke down for about 2 minutes. I was having a chat with a tourist who was taking a picture from the bottom of the ride but my friend next to be who is afraid of heights was shitting it.

IT's really amazing how stupid some people can be. They know they're not supposed to have a camera out recording the whole ride on a roller coaster, but they do it anyway. Personally, I think filming a roller coaster from a off ride view like I do, makes for a better video anyway. The only on ride videos I do are of transportation rides like observation towers, skyrides, and amusement park trains. You're allowed to do that on those rides, but not roller coasters.
@BroddieAndShanita yeah everything was working fine but the cable car things kept stopping? lol. Sky was the only one that really broke down their when we went... but it was for about 20 mins it was broken for, aha... and wow? you guys had to leave ;o x x x

This happened to me, it was goin up (Someone was filming) and It just went BANG! It did it so hard that I nearly slipped out the top! Was there 10 mins, my neck ached like mad, then someone came to take the camera :l

when i was at alton towers air broke while i was on, then while i was in the queue,
then.... oblivion broke while I was on it and we were stuck for around 10 mins.....
its quite fun being stuck for about the first 3 mins... then becomes boring as fuck!

Tis funny, this is the EXACT same place we broke down for about 2 minutes. I was having a chat with a tourist who was taking a picture from the bottom of the ride but my friend next to be who is afraid of heights was shitting it.

Its a rollar coaster dude you arent facing down all the time, that thing flips you over, spins you around and loops you round at very high speed, a phone that gets loose could go anywhere and at a serious pelt!

@allanfr1961 have you actually been on that ride? ... and that stupidity is why I suggested looking up the laws of motion ... You know that feeling that something is exerting a force on you when the rides going? if a phone got loose from you it wouldnt just land on your chest or harmlessly hit the floor the force generated by the ride would send it flying and with a fair bit of force at that!
I'm sorry but your stupidity and that of many others in these cases is unbeleivable

IT's really amazing how stupid some people can be. They know they're not supposed to have a camera out recording the whole ride on a roller coaster, but they do it anyway. Personally, I think filming a roller coaster from a off ride view like I do, makes for a better video anyway. The only on ride videos I do are of transportation rides like observation towers, skyrides, and amusement park trains. You're allowed to do that on those rides, but not roller coasters.

This happened to me, it was goin up (Someone was filming) and It just went BANG! It did it so hard that I nearly slipped out the top! Was there 10 mins, my neck ached like mad, then someone came to take the camera :l
