  • I went up when I was 13...im 15 next month and my 2 friends who went up at the same time as me cant figure out why Im better than them...and how at first I just picked up everything quick and went up en pointe without pain...

  • Hey! .. I'm 16 years old and danced for 5 years... I had the Genious idea to quit when i was 7 for soccer and rugby, but i really want to get back into ballet and eventually do pointe. My feet are pretty flexible still but I was wondering where to start. should I just sign up for classes ? lol

if you could help me out that'd be awesome! :D

  • @SoyBlanca869 look for an adult beginner open class since you are 16 =)

  • haha Taylor part xDDD

  • i dance two days a week along with other classes, would that be enough?

( i have been dancing 3 years(; and my ballet classes are an hour and a half(:

  • just got my pointe shoes today and im so incredibly excited to start working with them!!!!!!!!

  • Hi, I'm 16. in level3, and have been doing ballet for 5 months...our class moves to level 4 next yr...I take 2 classes a week and work on it in between. Do you think that I will be allowed to go en pointe and move to level 4 with only a years experience? [I have been dancing (not ballet) on and off since I was 6]

  • I guess I should also mention that my arches are high (not extremely but are in the range) and my left foot's second to is slightly longer than my big toe....

  • @Fiddler4mySavior only your teacher can say because they have seen you in class and there are many things to evaluate. People make videos of their feet and ask if they are ready but you can't tell by this. What you should do is ask your teacher what you need to work on to get there =)

  • @mydancetv Thanks :) I'll do that!

  • @Fiddler4mySavior You are doing R.A.D. ballet right? If you are, at the age of 16, you shouldn't be in level 3. You should be in level 8 or more! I am so sorry dear, but you can't handle pointe shoes right now, believe me. I am doing ballet and I am in level 5. I just bought my pointe shoes. I bet you are NOT ready.

    I am sorry sweetie.

  • @Demeter199 I just started last July and am thus new at ballet. My question was whether or not my teacher would even consider me for pointe next yr....we start in level 4. My teacher is currently considering me for it...

  • I am getting my pointe shoes today

  • @Purplefreak2060 Congrats!

  • Ewwww their feet are gross!

  • i would love to start ballet again as a hobby however i started at the age of 4 and quit at the age of 12 i don't know if points would be a problem seeing as im 17 . also there is nowhere to be taught it except where i use to go and the teacher was horrible to me and always ignored me.

  • @123person1000 This is the same with me, I used to dance from the age of 5 - 11 and I quit, i'm now 16 and want to start again and learn how to go on pointe - how long do you think I would have to wait? :) If anyone could reply this would be so helpful

  • I'm 15 and I'm receiving my pointes in four months, and I started four month ago. So it means I'm getting them in 8 months? Now I'm kinda scared :/

  • I have a Video where I ask if my feet are ready for pointe. Could you please check it out and give me some advice?

  • ive done ballet for 2 years but ive stopped and apparently i have perfect ballerina feet. i have very good control of my toes, my arch is very high and i have good balance. could i be able to do pointes?

  • I'm 14 and my teacher says we have to wait 1 year...

  • @rorofromhethersett Thanks! Its pretty similar so I'll wait a year.

  • My old ballet teacher said i wasn't ready for pointe and i wasn't going to be ready for a long time, then she didn't have enough time for me and i had toswap schools. My next teacher put me on pointe straight away, and explained i had the best thirteen-year-old pointe she'd seen so far. lol

  • 1997 balletfreak. You are 14 in 5th grade?

  • @lemonadepunx 13 8th grade

  • I like your emphasis on health when it comes to body shapes and dancing. Some girls and even some dance schools create unhealthy body images as the "right" type of body. It's completely ridiculous. :)

  • im 13 and im starting my first pointe class on thursday! do you have any suggestions before i start??? thanks♥ btw; i LOVE your vids! "D

  • i have been on pointe for just about a year and im 12

they dont hurt or anything (unless ur on it for hours)but everyone just work harder on ur streches if you dont have a good arch

  • I have been in ballet for seven years. Since first grade and know I am in 8th grade, so I am 14. I am in the highest ballet class at my studio and I take three ballet classes a week, but I am still not on pointe at all. I think I'm ready don't you????????????????????????????????

  • Im 13 and on pointe, but i have poor arches, is it to late to make them good?

  • okay if i had surgery on my feet to get a metal implant put in would i be able to do pointe again? I was training for it for about 2 months but then surgery came... but I realllly want to try it.. Ive wanted to do it for sooo long. I have all movement and most of my strength back but would the implant make it difficult?? Please answer if you know or if you think I should try..

  • Awwwwww I have rollen arches D;

  • I Came For Mini Taylor xD Jkk ;p

  • Comment removed

  • @1997balletfreak just ask your teacher what you need to work on it could be anything from your core to pulling up to straightening your knees. :)

  • @mydancetv

Whoever invented pointe shoes was a sadistic monster and you people are all insane masochists who love pain. I can't even think of ballet without cringing.

  • @pinz2022 LOL okay why are you watching pointe shoe vids then :) they aren't that bad. Seriously.

  • @1997balletfreak 14 IN GRADE 5?! WTF!! '\I'm 14 in grade 9~! what the hell happened 2 u?! did u fail 4 grades?! LOL so sad xD

  • @1997balletfreak 14!grade 5!?

  • Is it possible that only one of your feet is ready for pointe?

  • im a dancer and im getting my pointe shoes next week, im scared because my teacher thinks im ready, but to me my arches arent good enough, any advice... i feel helpless

  • there is a girl in my class who is not so great, but she only started this year, but she got to go en pointe. she says she had private lessons with a russian ballerina, but she did not know any of the steps, im afraid shes going to get injured and i think she got to go up because everyone else is going up,do you think she is going to get hurt?

  • @easleykids it really depends in which you love more if you have a passion for one or the other choose that but otherwise if you like both the same choose the one that is cheaper or easier on your family haha

  • I only started ballet in February at the age of 15 and went en pointe in late August / September. However, before that I did six hours a week of Irish dance for a year and a half (including what we called 'toe work' in hard shoes), and I did ballet from the age of 4 to almost 11 before quitting for health reasons. So I think I'm okay strength wise although I'm careful to warm up a lot because hyperflexibility and pointework don't mix well!

  • It took me 8 years of classical ballet 3 of which were 2 a week for two hours. If you are really desprate to get onto pointe you can use pre- point shoes which have the same feel and look just not a as strong toe box so u can only go three forths of the way up with out etheir breaking the shoe or hurting ur foot/ toes

  • I'm a tween and have 5 years of dance experience, 4 of which in ballet, and one year of gymnastics experience but I haven't improved there yet. If I am to start going to ballet or gymnastics twice a week I am to quit the other activity. I'm not using pointe yet and want to go to ballet twice a week so I can join a more advanced level in dance, but gymnastics is such a well rounded sport and I only need to climb half way up a rope before advancing. Which should I stay in?

  • I'm 12 and I started ballet a few months ago. I really need to know how to improve my arches, ankle flexibility and strengthen my feet! How can I do this? Also, I have really long toes, and my 2nd toe is longer than my big toe. Will this prevent me from pointe? Also when do you think I can start pointe?

  • @sugarjenni There are many exercises such as rolling through the feet that can strengthen your ankles and arches. Ask your teacher! If your 2nd toe is longer than your big toe, that might prevent you from pointe, depending on what your teachers want from you. I went on pointe after 10 years of ballet, but again it depends on your teachers standards and when they feel you are strong and ready enough. At minimum, I'd say it would take about 4 years with ballet at least 2/3 times a week. Good luck!

  • True that.

  • gotta love the taylor part!!!! :D

  • Is it bad that I can dance on a pointe for about minute without shoes... and ive never done ballet but ive been studying it for a while now.

  • Hi! :) i started ballet 1 or 2 years ago and i am now 13 ( i do 4 major ballet classes a week) my teacher has told me i am now ready for pointe! and i will take my intermediate Foundation exam this March:D

  • i'm 10 now and i'm going to be 11 next year and i start ballet??

  • 2-3 years of ballet to get onto pointe?!?!?!? im screwed -,-

  • @PinkStrawberriezz I actually started pointe after 10 years of ballet. It just depends on where you live and what your teacher wants for you. It takes many years of practice to develop correct technique and strong ankles.

  • I was born with a perfect turnout and have great balance but my feet are slightly flat and i have hyper extended legs which are not good for you ( i have been working with both issues and they are getting better) ive taken ballet for 8 years im 11 and i take 4 classes a week. Can i ever go on pointe? Please answer this question! i want to be a pro dancer when i grow up... but cant if im not on pointe

  • @megahorselover24 generally speaking I see people all the time with normal feet on pointe and hyper extended legs look pretty in ballet but I have heard you have to be really aware of them. Ask your teacher about it. Also work on your arches NOW! You can still improve them some.

  • @megahorselover24 well my instructors say that its best to go on pointe when ur 12 due to ankle growth. ur ankles are fully grown when ur 12. so yes of course u have a chance! i have flat feet too and was born with great turn out and balance as you. so dont give up!

  • I hate Twilight -.-

    Love ballet <3

  • i AM IN GRADE FOUR BALLET, I TAKE 3 CLASSES, I AM A GOOD STUDENT! WHAT DO I GET?? nothing!!!!!

  • No offense but I have been doing ballet for over 11 years and been on pointe for years and I am not the thinest person but you don't have to be thin to do pointe. If you learn the correct technique and understand your limits, weight is no issue.

  • What song is playing?

  • would you be able to do any type of ballet if your not double jointed

  • @breyergirl2011 you don't need t be double jointed, my arms are and it's actually a pain because if I straighten them all the way they bend back. Hyper extended legs look pretty but you have to learn to control them I think.

  • @mydancetv oh well thats good because im only a little double jointed. Thanks for replying so quickly :)

  • If I tend to show one of those ankle problems stated (falling toward my big toe), does that mean I have it or have I just not been dancing long enough and I am too weak?

  • @BubblyMango21 It is just practice that you need maybe and yes more strength and technique work ;)

  • so is this at 0:50 good or bad???

  • Would I be able to go on point? I have been danceing for 8-9 years on Flat (I am 11) and I have the habbit of Holding my core tight throughtout the day, and doing reqular warm ups (Such as Dedajues) During school. I also have strong legs that are mostly mussle, and I have good balance. But, would it be a bad Idea to even think about starting point if I have bad knees?

  • I've heard of people who started much sooner than 2 years.....

  • @mydancetv I'm going to, hopefully soon! I had already discussed it with my mother a few weeks ago! Only problem, I will have to start all over!

  • What i wanna know is how i got from a music video to ballet shoes! (though i have been wanting to get back into ballet, to bad i was forced to quit, if i had stuck with it i would have already been in pointes for 4 years. I started at 2 had to quit at 5 cuz of money issues)

  • @ShaianneAlexis it's fate - start up again ;)

  • I took ballet when i was 7 and then quit im 16 now and trying to start all over, will i ever be able to do pointe?

  • @JesusHearsYou most likely unless you have something about your feet/body that may prevent it. There are adults that go on pointe . Obviously their feet aren't as flexible etc as someone that has been training since a younger age but you usually can still do it ;)

  • @mydancetv How long do think it will take?

  • Um.......How do speed up the process of my dancing;I'm a beginner now How do I become intermediate quickly?!!?

  • @AshleyPalafox1 Not really any short cuts except for taking more classes, practicing more, remember every single correction and applying it every time . That's all haha ;) If you can squeeze in some privates with a good teacher that will help- ask them straight up what you need to work on. Lots of core exercises will help too and watch a lot of ballet! And get rid of bent knees sooner than later and learn how to spot. Okay you can't really speed up the process but you can work extra hard.

  • im 13 and all my friends have just started pointe, and im really worried that i'll never start. is it still possible to catch up so i can join? also is it possible to still be a ballet dancer if i dont know pointe? xo

  • @LilylunaP13 you prob will eventually and if your technique in flats gets really great you could actually pass them up when you get on pointe even if you started after so get it good in flats!

  • Thank you for this video :)

  • I am 14 and want to start ballet but have not enough money and i want to do it on my own. Do you think if i do enough research can i do it or should i leave it and i want to get pointe shoes to practice do you think that is a good idea ? and i have really strong ankles and bone structure. Just to make it clear i will do alot of research because i do not fancy hurting myself. WHAT would you recommend should i do it or not ?

  • @Naeere12345 I wouldn't do the pointe shoes unless you can have a teacher look at you. You can really mess yourself up and with out proper technique there is no point in putting the shoes on anyway. If you can afford the pointe shoe you should be able to take some classes ;) or save up! You will like it.

  • @mydancetv I'm 12. I am going to start ballet . A girl in my friend's class who is 11 just started and she has all the basics and she is starting to do pointe, I have very strong feet and toes so do you thing it will take long to start doing basic pointe? My first and second toes are equal length so will i have to work harder or less, or does it just mean i have more area to work on? I pay attention and work my best. I do street and will be starting contemporary soon.Sorry it's so long Thanks.x

  • @tashahops99 it depends on your core and stuff too - back strength etc - that is why i went off then on again. Alsopractice keeping your knees straight- bent knees- bad ;) unless plie- you know what I mean. Square toes or even length toes are great for ballet!

  • @mydancetv Oh my gosh thank you so much! xoxox

  • I took ballet for about 7 years starting at age 6. When I was 11 my teacher said I was strong and had a beautiful arch -but- she was concerned about my ankles and wanted me to wait until I built more strength. I wish I'd stuck to it instead of quitting but I was just not paying attention and thinking hey, there's more to ballet than pointe. (and she didn't say no, never, just "Not now"). RIP my ballet teacher Lisa 1913-2008

  • thanks i will work on it. an odd thing is i was born with a perfect turnout

  • @ mydancetv thanks

  • I am a figure skater who has just started ballet (to help with skating) and I would like to try to get on pointe. I have very strong ankles. Any suggestions?

  • @GammaBunny101 strong core and do a lot of releves ;) practice pointing them. point point point ;)

  • @GammaBunny101 me too :D

  • Two of my favorite things in this video dance and Taylor lautner!!!! :D

  • @crazycheerleader25 i second that!

  • i have great posture and balance and everything but my feet are just a little flat, do you think i could be on pointe ive been taking ballet since i was 3 or 4 and im 11. please answer this comment because i want to be a pro dancer when i grow up

  • @megahorselover24 i think your feet have potential to be improved before age 13 - i don't know by how much or how flat they are but work with theraband as much as possible and practicing pointing them to the floor with legs stretched out in front of u- also make them flexible... pick up pencils or marbles with your toes and practice raising your big toe separate from the rest :) no guarantees but it will help anyway.

  • I loved this video :3 hahaha

  • what is this song

  • @themsiheartdance97 "kettentanz" strauss:erste waltzer, op. 4 london symphony orchestra :)

  • I take advanced ballet and have better abs than Taylor Lolz

  • what about double jointed ankles? are they any trouble in ballet?

  • @mydancetv okay thanks!

  • I'm 17 I did ballet when i was 8 i stopped when i was 15 I can still do everything i'm just scared to get back in those shoes lol But i miss doing what i love. Will i have the same problem as i did when i first got the shoes?

  • @nunnally23 start taking classes again and work your way up. ;) Yes you can!

  • Ugh - I'm a fourteen year old and have been dancing for about nine to ten years. (Age 3-4) And my teacher is considering the idea of putting some people on pointe work. I used to walk to my bus stop on the tip of my toes. But, question is - If I have a longer second toe and weigh about 140 and 5'4 in hight, could that work?

  • I took ballet for five years and started pre pointe and lost interest... And the only reason I did ballet for that long was to get on pointe. Which kinda sucks but I am now in tap and jazz classes and going on my eighth year=) I love it so much!!!!

  • @shutupitsmyopinion You probably have better lines thanks to ballet ;) !!

  • i am 16 and i have never taken a ballet class in my life...but im still capable of pointe....does that make me a freak of nature???......because i can actually bounce around on the tips of my toes and walk around the house no problem just like that.....

  • I am 13 and have been doing ballet for about 7 years now! Some of my friends are at the same level as me but they are in a different class, their teacher says they can go on pointe after Christmas, but our teacher hasn't even mentioned it? Any help?!

  • @Megameg72 You should confront your teacher and let her know you want to get into point! I'm 13 and just talked to my teacher about it, she said she can get me there in no time. It helps if you tell them, so they can start building your strength more

  • I started Pointe classes when I was 10 and I had been doing ballet for 7 years before! And no I don't think your "Pear Shape" would be any problem at all!:D

  • @LegendofZelda2211 Thank goodness :D But what about the flexibility of the feet? I have seen a couple of videos here on youtube and my feet are not even close to being as bendy/strong/flexible as shown in the videos. Will this come with practice? :)

  • I'm a 19-year old girl, and I consider taking ballet classes (when I can afford it sometime in the future) My concern is that I will be too old :( Also, I'm 5'4 and weigh 136 lbs with a tendency to store the fat on my butt and thighs. I have always had string legs though.. But will this - my pear-shape - be a problem?

    Help!

  • @Brumbasse22 people start as adults all the time- all diff shapes too ;) there is a blog called adult beginner you should google it. She's super funny.

  • @mydancetv Thanks! I'll check it out right away :D

  • @Brumbasse22 im 18. i took my first class on september 7th this year. never looked back. even though my parents told me i was too old and fat to do it. i did it anyway.

  • @iceskatercharlotte Your parents can say whatever they want, I think it's totally awesome that you started anyway! Have you progressed much since you started? I'm so eager to hear what other "senoir"-starters have learnt and what experiences they have made :D

  • @Brumbasse22

No, you are not to old! If any teacher tells you that you are too old, run the other way! There was a woman that started dancing in her mid-50's. She enjoyed it so much that she quit her job (psychiatrist), and studied ballet full-time (5x / week). She landed in toe shoes (pointe shoes...I am old school) after one year of studying part-time. DO NOT let the pessimists squash your dream. I wish you the best in your dancing. goals!!

  • According to these things, my attitude is the only thing that doesn't have a problem... (: I have flat feet, I think I sickle a little but I'm not sure, I'm bow-legged and I have slight postural problems (though they're in the neck not the legs ;)... HELP!

  • Hell my second toes are longer than my big toes and I'm flat.

  • @taylorswift091196 Same :(

  • okay.. so i'm 16................................. and i've always wanted to do ballet.

i couldn't before because money sucked at my house :(

do you think it's too late?

and if not.. what the heck should i do?!

  • @ilykateomg Go try a class! You are probably old enough to take an adult beginner class so you don't get put in w/ little kids ;)

  • @ilykateomg i started a month before i turned 16, n i love it, im still learnig the basics, and im not all that good. but i do enjoy it. no its not to late as long as its something you truly want and are prepared to practice .

    GOOD LUCK

  • @geglamb omg.. THANK YOU.

    much appreciated.

i just need to get my parents to sign me up!

do you think i'll be with a bunch of 6 year olds..? :O

  • @ilykateomg um it all depends on the school, n the youngest you can start taking pointe is around 10. for me at my school there was only 2 of us tht did pionte, and only 6 other girls took just ballet so they put us together n it wasnt bad, n they were little girls like 8-9year olds, but they split us up during class. it jus really depends on the school you go to . :D

  • @geglamb you're perfect. omg. thanks a million.

ahaha no one would ever reply to my comments... >:(

    YOU DA BEST <3

  • @ilykateomg awww thanks lol, im glad i could help. i hope you enjoy pointe. and if you hav any questions dnt be afraid to ask. good luck ;)

  • @ilykateomg I'm in the same situation ):

  • @ilykateomg It's NEVER too late to try! there are probably some teen classes in your area I started at 13 and I just got my pointe shoes you'll do fine I'm sure it may take time to loosen up some mucles but I think you can do fine!

  • @ilykateomg I just started and I'm 19 :) no worries!

  • HELP, im trying to decide in what brand of pointe shoes is the best cuz i need to get a new pair ASAP, this will be my 2nd year on pointe, but ive been dancing for 14years, iam 17, any suggestions would be greatly appriciated thanks lym

  • @geglamb it depends on your feet just try on as many brands and widths and vamps as you can until you find the perfect shoe. You need a store with a big selection and a great fitter. What kind of foot do you have? square toes? wide? etc

  • @mydancetv i have very narrow skinny feet, i am also flat footed, n idnt have square toes lol at least i dnt think i do.... thank you for the advice i really appreciate it

  • i have a larger big toe then the rest on my others its much longer. will this ruin my chances of pointe

  • I am supposed to be going on pointe next summer but I am flat footed, will this make it harder?:(

  • Woah- I didn't know how arched Paloma's Feet are!

  • i really wanted to get on pointe i am 11 years old and i am not in ballet but i will be starting again in pre point classes in a few weeks

  • @gamegirl209 do you mean the draw string you tie in front? it doesn't really matter unless you need to tighten your shoe . There is no way to really pull it through if it went up in there with out taking out the whole seam or you can cut it if the knot went up inside the seam and just make new ends- does that make sense?

  • hi ! im 16 soon to be 17 in january and i LOVE ballet i really want to start ballet and hopefully some day be able to dod pointe but i havent done a dance class since i was 10 ! is it too late for me ? i think the dance is beautiful and peacefull and i would really enjoy doing it .

  • @mrsalicia55 you can start up again! There are adults that start taking it even later than you ;)

  • my teacher said that i can start pointe in december but im scared im not ready :/

  • I havebeen doing ballet for 9 in half years and now im 12 what am i suppose to do to try show my teacher that im ready to do pointe work ?

  • can i still do pointes shoes if im flat footed?

  • i've benn in balet for a year, and I think I'm ready for pointe since my feet are strong and i have a great posture and balance, but my teacher won't let me because of the class and stuff, I know I'm ready, but I'm still scared, what should I do?

  • @tatimar98 trust your teacher and even if you feel it is time- the more time you spend in flats refining your technique the better - with in reason of course! You could always ask what you need to work on to get there- maybe there is something you are unaware of. ;)

  • @mydancetv Thankyou! :) My teacher told me I can go on pointe next year, so I'm gonna trust her and wait. :)

  • @tatimar98 LOL ballet for a year and you want to go on pointe? I have been in ballet for five years and I am still waiting for pointe. And I am happy I am still waiting, I can improve before my feet become in pain.

  • @fizzydrinkmixer LOL to you darling! :) It results my teacher told me i will go on pointe next year ;) You don't know how strong my feet are and how able I am to dance ballet, so better keep quite. And you have been for five years and still waiting? Good for you. :D

  • @tatimar98 I won't keep quite, and neither will you once you break your ankle. I feel bad for you. Good bye.

  • I went en pointe when I was 9

  • I wish I had seen this video when I was younger. I started pointe at 10, but my second toe was slightly longer than my big toe. It's been 16 years, and after only 1 year with pointe, I've completely ruined my feet. I just recently had surgery to repair one of them. This information is invaluable.

  • I go on pointe this year hehe can't wait tbh

  • Great video! But I have a super quick question.

I'm 15 now and would really like to start ballet but have no prior knowledge of the beautiful dance. (When I would start ballet would be when I am 16.)

Is it too late for me to start to learn? Should I start working on strengthening my ankles, toes, and feet?

Thanks so much for the help! It would be very nice to hear back soon. :)

(Also, if anyone is willing to help, replies are welcome. :) )

  • @RainbowNinjaXD no it is not too late to start ballet! people start as adults . =) You could start with some theraband exercises and releves and picking things like pencils up with your toes. Of course sign up for class too ;)

  • @RainbowNinjaXD it is never too late!!!!!!!!! but you mite have to be in recreational ballet, because it would be akward for you to be in a class filled with a buch of 4 year olds! in my opinion, i think you should start strenthining your feet muscles and see excersises only.

  • Thanks , This is really going to help me !!

I am starting pointe in a few weeks .. :)

    I am excited .. but nervous !

    This helped alot .. !

    Thanks again !!!! (:

  • I just wore out my first pair of pointe shoes. They were capezios so I'm wondering what kind of shoe everyone prefer so as to help choose ones that are right for me

  • @Kalipto97 Well I have tried griskos and russian pointe. It really depends on what shoe works better for you, you could try a harder shank :)

  • @mydancetv Thanks for your help! I've seen both those types pointe shoes and liked them a lot:)

  • Off topic but : To the pointe is a tattoo and piercing parlor in my area. Haha. Great video.

  • @rorofromhethersett also look into toe spreaders and google correct overlapping toe ;)

  • @rorofromhethersett have you tried a toe spacer or a chiropractor? Have you ever tried on pointe shoes? I wonder if the box would keep it in place, but that might hurt. I'm not sure ;)

  • is it weird that i can stand on my tippy toes with no pain at all without pointe shoes??? and ive only done ballet for 2 years and im the only one in my class that can do it for hours on end and still not feel any pain
