  • is that some wire from the cable hanging off to the side, above the curtain rod?

  • @packagewarren - i cut the end off a coax cable and hooked the center conductor of it around the curtain rod.

  • Is that too difficult to make a antenna into a curtain rod?

  • btw, you all know dat DTV stations use MPEG-2 to broadcast ota. DirecTV used to have MPEG-2 but they got rid of it. HD is better uncompressed

  • my tv has this built in. its cool when i dont have cable

  • I bought this box. I really enjoy it; the signal is great

  • Pick up the same model I actually lost a couple of channels

  • no no

  • Have you tried to beam in ABC, FOX, and PBS from Orlando/Daytona Beach since this video? Don't get me wrong, your apparatus for receiving DTV stations is quite impressive but I'm just wondering about the other stations.

  • DTV channels operate in the UHF Frequencies, you'll get better reception if you make a little UHF loop antenna about 10" in dia. (old coat hanger) Then connect it to a UHF balun, then RG6 coax to the coverter :) Thats what I use and the signal levels are all around 65-70%

  • I tried the same converter, and when I touched the coax connection on the rear of it with my finger, it started picking up stations from all over. I guess the hat I made of aluminum foil to ward off the aliens, martians and evil spirits has a second use. I have aluminum foil folded over 3 times and taped to the upper corners of every room so that may act as an excellent ground plane.

  • how close are you to tv stations?

  • Approx 30-40 miles.
