  • I love how the criticisms against Byrd dwell on actions he did from decades ago--nothing to do w/ the issue in this vid. Delusional rightwing nutjobs who can't deal w/ the facts. And who is this long-winded, stumbling asshole giving non-answers from about 2:30?uh, blah blah, uh, blah blah, uh, uh, uh. . . another soulless Repub. cocksucker.

  • Byrd's clear, simple intelligent logical questions cut right through Crocker's and Petraeus's double talk and baffling obfuscations.

  • Comment removed

  • his hair is pretty.

  • Where was this "hero" during the Vietnam War? He supported LBJ including Gulf of Tonkin, but Johnson was a Democrat of course so Byrd supported his Vietnam policy. Iraq was a bad idea, but Bush was a Republican (Republican In Name Only) so Byrd was not about to support his Iraq policy. Byrd has proven over the decades to be rather partisan.

  • Who's the guy on the right of Patraeus. Is that the iraqi ambassador?

  • its strange to see a guy like this who was part of the KKK at one time change so much. Much more aware....kinda the opposite that I expect lol you expect people to get senile.

  • I like Byrd. 91 years old. Longest serving senator ever. I cannot belive it. And he got a straight answer out of that general. Amazing.

  • Was he still in the KKK when he became a Senator? You do know that he was once a Klansman?

  • Yes I know. Thanks for the reminder. WHO CARES?! Jesus! How long can you hold somthing against someone? That was from totally different era. People are simply products of thier upbringing. You are talking about a time in American when it was seen as a "high honor" to be in the KKK. That was 70 years ago. He has LONG since repudiated it. It should not even be mentioned with his name anymore becuase its not fair. He has done such a good job with a long distinguised career.

  • Yet, if he was a conservative, then you would Damn him for all time for any hint of past associations...this is called hypocrisy.

  • Well. I might be inclined to do that from an "emotional" point of view, yes. But he is not a conservative. So it's a mute point.

  • Actually the point is not mute...the hypocricy of the left is proven by the fact that Byrd is a well respected D Senator.

  • You're absolutely right, any time a conservative does anything wrong the dems are all over their asses but when one of their own kind does the same thing theyre like "Oh lets forgiiiiiiiiiiive them"

  • Except that the Democrats aren't on the left.

There is no left in America.

  • That's odd...they sure seem liberal to me. Maybe you don't think so because they aren't conspiracy theory over the edge bleary eyed America Haters like you are...well, at least most of them aren't. Enjoy your Hate...I suspect it's all you have in your life...and that's truly sad.

  • Yes, they do seem liberal. That's because they are liberal. But Liberal isn't on the left. Liberal is pretty much right of center. It only appears left to a population that is dominated by right wing politics.

How is criticizing the evil foreign policy of the U.S. & U.K. an act of hate?

Imagine if you criticized Hitler's foreign policy & I branded you a German hater.

You seem unable to disassociate yourself & the American population with the policies of a few elite individuals.

  • NOT ALL CONRGESSIONAL MEMBERS HAVE THE SAME ACCESS.

they're facts that dont mean anything that would justify the arrogant actions of this administration and the weakoning of our contstitutional liberties that the forefathers already gave their lives for.

The president presides, not dictates. The congress is a Co Branch. I don't care who "wins." Everyone has already lost.

  • There is a special site in DC where "ANY" congressman can go to be briefed and to see raw intel. The top leaders in both parties get regular if not daily briefings...that's a fact.

  • Robert Byrd is a patriot, a voice of the truth.

His questions make PERFECT sense. He uses common sense, logic, and lessons from history lay his questions to the IDIOT and IGNORANT puppet Bush.

  • @EgyptianPrinceCB You are a moron... This coward you call" a Patriot that uses logic common sense" and the like, is a former Grand Poobah of the West Virgina Ku Klux Klan. Hes sooo logical.

  • i wonder how these guys can keep a straight face.

  • You're the only racist here.

  • This is an insult, and I'm not talking about Byrd.

  • Byrd is an icon.

  • You wrote: WHY MORE TIME....At what point do we stop defending our country's freedom from terrorism no matter why it started.OR KILL THEM IN YOUR BACKYARD TOMORROW..YOU CHOOSE. Answer: the war in Iraq is not defense, it is destroying the US.

  • AMAZING Sen Byrd asks if there was or is any connection with 9/11 and the war in Iraq and General Petraeus answers "not that I am aware of Senator" period nothing more to add. This is the most amazing thing that has come out of this general's mouth. Thank you Sen Byrd!!!!!!!!Surely Bush would have explained the connection between Iraq and 9/11 to his top general in Iraq!!!!!!

  • The justification for the war was never because of a link between 9/11 and Saddam...and was never presented that way by the Bush Administration. There was a link between AQ and Saddam, but the 9/11 commission found that there was no "evidence" that it was an operational link. SH was brutal and unpredictable...and he had the capability and technology necessary to make WMD and the potential to pass it along to terrorist groups...some of whom he did materially support. These are FACTS!

  • You only remember the part you want to. Without a constant diet of 911 fear Bush would never have been able to send US troops to Iraq. America had been attacked and Bush played on our fears to make Uraq look like a real terrorist threat when it was not. Remember,"it is better to fight terrorists in Iraq than here"? A total oil scam.

  • The US Congress is privy to the same intel that the President is and they (large majority from both parties) voted for the War in Iraq. Bush along with the majority from both parties in Congress sent the troops to Iraq...and no case was made that the decision had anything to do with AQ or 9/11. There has been 2 major probes into whether Bush lied or somehow cooked the intel and neither found that he did. Your Hate for Bush has clouded your judgement.

  • The Bush Administration never claimed that SH and 9/11 were connected...ever. You sir, are mistaken.

  • RE: "The Bush Administration never claimed that SH and 9/11 were connected...ever. You sir, are mistaken. "

You are wrong. Apart from George Bush's speeches where he continually kept mentioning Saddam & Al Quaeda in the same sentences after 9/11, purposefully attempting to associate the two unconsciously in people's minds.

Rumsfeld also clearly stated that they had evidence of links between Iraq & Bin Laden. There's a good video where they show Rumsfeld a vid of him saying it after his denial.

  • No...he did claim that SH and AQ were connected, but not that SH and 9/11 were connected. FWIW, the 9/11 commission stated that there WERE connections between SH and AQ, but there was no "PROOF" of any operational links...so you are wrong about me being wrong.

  • Except that the main reason for associating Saddam with Al Quaeda or Bin Laden, in the immediate aftermath of 9/11 was to create the possibility in people's minds that Saddam was responsible in someway for 9/11.

Like you say there was no proof of any links between Saddam & Bin Laden or Quaeda.

But of course, there is plenty of proof of links between the U.S. & Bin Laden since they trained him as part of the mujahdin in the 80's & between the U.S. and Saddam's use of CW.

  • I didn't say that there was no proof of any links between Saddam & Bin Laden or Quaeda. The 9/11 commission said that there WERE links between Saddam & Bin Laden or Quaeda....but no "PROOF" that they were acting together. The key word here is the word "proof". So was Bush trying to duoe the American people into believing that SH was responsible for 9/11? I don't think so and the American people didn't believe there was a connection...that was not a part of the national discussion at the time.

  • No, just as there is no discussion that wearing Lynx Anti-Perspirant really does make you more attractive with the opposite sex as is unconsciously inferred in the adverts.

The fact that there is no conscious debate about it, shows that the subliminal message has bypassed the conscious & only registered in the unconscious as was intended.

That is how unconscious psychological manipulation works. If it registers consciously, it failed. It has to be felt, rather than cognitively understood.

  • SH was surely not that unpredictable. Rather, he had a strong survival instinct - he would never do anything to threaten his own power. The fact that the West turned its back to him all of a sudden changed his fortunes, obviously. Yes, he was brutal - but if that's a reason to invade a country, the US would be very busy indeed. Perhaps he could have made WMD and maybe he could give it to someone - but he did not. You can't start a war based on hypothesis and speculation.

  • SH "acted" like he had WMD in the run-up to the war. Is it predictable to pretend to have it when you don't? The problem was that SH was not a sane person and the sons that would have succeeded him were not sane either. So you basically had insane megalomaniacs with access to oil wealth and weapons technology running a country that is smack in the middle of an area that is Very important to the world economy. Trust me, the US gov had his sanity evaluated by the best in the business.

  • This is the problem, you believe that he didn't pass along WMD tech...but you don't know that he didn't. We actually have tapes of AQ testing chemical agents on animals...tapes that were acptured in Afganistan. Red fellas have actually sold Russian weapons (including Helicopters) on the black market...an active Russian sub was offered for sale and a US agent toured the sub in Russia with the Captain and crew aboard. A nuclear device has been offered for sale on the black market. Wake Up!

  • He was given the chance to allow the UN to verify that he didn't have WMD and turned it down..repeatedly..that "strong survival instinct" got him hanged. Ohhh, and wars with Kuwait and Iran and threatenind the saudis are evidence of good judgment and preditability right? Saddam, at the very least, was a sociopath and probably a psycopath..how can you suggest that a person with those kinds of mental issues is predictable. He had people executedfor throwing out newspapers with his picture in them.

  • Yes, Saddam was a psychopath whom America supported through his WORST atrocities.

Rumsfeld went & shook hands with him, knowing full well that Saddam had used Chemicals on a "daily basis" on Iranians & "kurdish insurgents" (quoting declassified State Dept. docs).

In fact, the U.S. states blocked a draft resolution condemning Saddam's use of Chemical Weapons in 1984.

I have links to the declassified State Dept. cable instructing the U.S. UN delegate to block the resolution on my channel.

  • Rumsfeld also shook hands with Colin Powell and Condoleeza Rice, knowing full well they had used and continue to use chemicals on their hair on a daily basis. What a hypocrite.

  • What part of hypocrisy don't you understand?

When someone from an administration supports somebody else through their use of Chemical Weapons (Rumsfeld in particular) & then uses that same crime as a sub-pretext for attacking them later, how is not hypocrisy?

  • We cant declare war on all possible 'enemies'. That would leave the world in one big war. How about the US propping up dictators in other countries? Saddam, Bin Laden, and extremists exist b/c of the sh-t our govt does to other countries. You talk about FACTS. How about the fact that a 9/11 hijacker was caught speeding by the Oklahoma police. The govt knew he was part of Al Qaeda, but he got away. Instead of war and wasting lives and money, we need to fix our government.

  • Incredible. So many of us have known this all along, yet 70% of the people who voted 4Bush in '04 thought there was a direct Iraq/911 link. I still meet ppl today who think we r in Iraq fighting for 911. It's unbelievable. Bipartisan support for entering Iraq? Yes, it is true both D & R voted for the Iraq Resolution. HOWEVER, out of 195 congressman against entering Iraq, only 6 were Republican. It wasn't a majority from both parties supporting the war, it was an OVERWHELMING REPUBLICAN MAJORITY.

  • WHY MORE TIME....At what point do we stop defending our country's freedom from terrorism no matter why it started.OR KILL THEM IN YOUR BACKYARD TOMORROW..YOU CHOOSE.

  • This fiasco will end when Haliburton allows Baby Bush to end it.

  • Transcend politics! watch a video by lightbliss on youtube. All these changes in government do not apply! Stop letting them mind slay you!

  • war, what is it good for?

    HALIBURTON

  • God bless Byrd

  • Sen. Byrd has left more brains in the White House toilet than George Bush has ever had in his spoiled brat head.

  • Take a deep breath, and hold it, for 30 minutes.

  • thanks for the video
