haha whoever is saying they've seen 'dried blood' on piercing guns is a total idiot. at claires only the earring goes through the ear, which is in a sterilized package right up until the piercing, the gun doesn't touch the ear at all. i don't agree with piercing little kids ears, and i work there, but there is nothing really unsanitary about it. and before you say 'omg how do u know anyting about unsanitary conditions!?!>@#22" im a 2nd year nursing student.

You use a gun, guess what a gun can carry? blood born diseases. What do you use to clean the gun? Alcohol wipes? That does NOTHING. The only way to sterilize the equipment that you REUSE (disgusting) is with an autoclave. So no you're not clean, at all.

Also, where did you get certified to pierce? please do share. How long was the training? I'm rather curious.

@gegele40 first of all the gun never touches the ear at all...nor does blood get on the gun (noone bleeds on a simple ear piercing and everything is sterilized ......IF it was unsafe or unsanitary do you you really think the states would certify us to pierce at all?..no they wouldn't so OBVIOUSLY we are quite sanitary!! we go through a decent amount of training to pierce..its not rocket science..so you recommend a 3 yr old girl to get her ear pierced with a big fat needle and pay $50 thats smart

I still want to know who certified you seeing as how guns aren't safe, in the slightest, and how a store that sells jewelry is NOT sanitary. Once the child has filled the above requirements that i stated that you could give a rats ass about, yes, i think they should get pierced with an 18g hollow needle not some "sharp" earring that uses blunt force

The needle is 18g, have you seen 18g? that is not some "big fat needle". And yes, i'd rather pay $50 to get a piercing done correctly than run the risk of catching HIV because some idiot doesn't know how to pierce and uses a fucking piercing gun.
